
Abstract: Technological advancements have facilitated access to electronic books (e-books), which are becoming increasingly popular as language learning media due to their interactive multimedia features. This bibliometric study aims to map the development of research on e-books in language learning using data from Scopus analyzed with the Bibliometrix package. The analysis reveals that the literature is centered around themes of reading literacy and the integration of educational technology, highlighting e-books as a key component in supporting reading comprehension and enhancing motivation in language learning. The study also finds that research is predominantly contributed by developed countries (notably China, the United States, and Japan), supported by strong institutional funding, while international collaboration remains limited. The contribution of this study is to provide a comprehensive map of research trends, collaboration networks, and dominant themes in the field of e-books for language learning, while also identifying research gaps that warrant further investigation. The comprehensive bibliometric analysis maps publication trends, author collaboration, and key topics related to e-books in language learning. The findings indicate that students’ reading literacy and the use of educational technology are dominant themes, with e-books playing a vital role in improving reading comprehension and learning engagement. Cross-country research collaboration remains limited, highlighting the need to strengthen global scientific networks to bridge research capacity gaps in this field.. The transition from Early Childhood Education (or PAUD in the Indonesian context) to elementary school is a pivotal stage where children shift from "learning to read" to "reading to learn." This study examines the role of family parenting styles in enhancing children's literacy skills during this critical phase. Utilizing a qualitative phenomenological approach, the research explores parents’ lived experiences in supporting the development of reading and writing at home. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observations, and documentation, then analyzed using thematic analysis. The findings indicate that democratic parenting styles significantly foster children’s intrinsic motivation and independence in literacy. Key practices, such as intensive verbal interactions, dialogic reading, and post-reading discussions, were found to enhance comprehension, narrative skills, and expressive language. Furthermore, purposeful digital media use, combined with active parental mediation, supports multimodal literacy development. Consistent reading routines and strong emotional involvement were identified as vital supporting factors, while limited parental time and a lack of age- appropriate materials emerged as primary barriers. The study concludes that family parenting is a decisive factor in bridging literacy gaps during the transition to elementary school. This research contributes to the literacy transition discourse by establishing a multifaceted family literacy framework specifically tailored for the transition from PAUD to primary schooling. These findings imply the necessity for a family literacy model that integrates democratic parenting, rich verbal interaction, and guided digital literacy to ensure children are prepared for increasing academic demands.
Everyone has the right to education, including children with special needs. Education aims to shape character, develop thinking skills, and foster empathy. The purpose of this study is to analyze the development of independence and perseverance in students with special needs through a holistic, inclusive education approach and to identify supporting and inhibiting factors. This study employed a qualitative descriptive approach with a case study method. The research was conducted at Kalitapen 1 Elementary School, located in Purwojati District, Banyumas Regency, selected based on specific criteria and local wisdom as a representative case reflecting the dynamics of inclusive education in the region. The research participants included classroom teachers, students with hearing and speech impairments, students with learning disabilities, and parents. The object of the study was the educational ecosystem involved in implementing the holistic inclusive approach. Qualitative data were collected through observations and interviews. Data were analyzed using qualitative procedures, including data collection, reduction, and interpretation. The findings indicated that the holistic development of independence and perseverance among deaf students and slow learners was fostered through the synergy of prompt-based instructional methods, family partnerships, and the strengthening of self-awareness. Holistic, context- based character education was found to function as a transformative process that internalizes values into daily habits, making it particularly relevant and effective for students with special needs.
Digital educational management in Madrasah Ibtidaiyah (MI) in North Sulawesi faces challenges related to ethical security and data integrity amid the rapid expansion of artificial intelligence (AI). This study examines the relationship between Ethical Digital Governance (EDG) based educational management and teachers’ managerial readiness. Using a quantitative correlational design, data were collected from 524 MI teachers through a five point Likert questionnaire developed from the POAC framework (Planning, Organizing, Actuating, and Controlling). Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation, and simple linear regression. The results show a statistically significant positive relationship between EDG and managerial readiness (R = 0.361; R² = 0.13; p < 0.05), indicating that EDG explains 13% of the variance in readiness. Although the correlation is weak, the positive direction suggests that strengthening ethical standards and digital transparency supports teachers’ psychological safety and pedagogical autonomy. Teachers demonstrate responsible AI use; however, institutional control remains largely compliance-oriented, potentially contributing to technostress. EDG therefore functions as a foundational enabling factor rather than a dominant predictor of managerial readiness. Future research should incorporate additional structural and competency-based variables to better explain managerial preparedness in Islamic educational institutions.
A scientific encyclopedia is a learning medium that contains factual information, interesting illustrations, simple case studies, and reflective questions that guide students to explore, analyze, and communicate their findings using scientific methods. This study aims to measure the effect of media on learning outcomes and critical thinking skills of fifth-grade elementary school students in science. This study used a quantitative approach with associative and descriptive quantitative strategies. The sample consisted of students in class VA (experimental) and VB (control) at SDN 22 Kota Lubuklinggau. Scientific encyclopedia media was applied to the experimental class, and image media was applied to the control class. In data collection, the techniques used were written tests in the form of multiple-choice questions to measure learning outcomes and essay questions to measure critical thinking skills (pre-test and post-test). Data analysis and processing were carried out by determining question scores, descriptive analysis, prerequisite test analysis, and inferential analysis. The research design used was a pure experimental design with two groups. The results of this study indicate that scientific encyclopedia media significantly influence learning outcomes and critical thinking skills in social studies (learning outcomes and critical thinking skills in the experimental class were greater than those in the control class). These findings contribute to the existing literature on scientific encyclopedia media and their impact on student learning outcomes and critical thinking skills in social studies.
This study aims to develop the Engklek Smart Quiz learning medium based on Education Through Art and to determine its feasibility and effectiveness in improving the science learning outcomes of fourth-grade students on the topic of “Forces Around Us” at SD Negeri 1 Pendem. The method used is Research and Development (R&D) based on the ADDIE model. Data collection techniques included both tests and non-tests; tests were conducted via pre-tests and post-tests to measure improvements in student learning outcomes, while non-tests consisted of observations, interviews, questionnaires, and documentation. Data analysis utilized validity, reliability, and normality tests, paired t-tests, and N-Gain. The media was developed as a banner-based game integrating physical activities, art, “Do” and “Ask” question cards, floor patterns, and music barcodes. The validation results indicate that the teaching material is highly suitable, with an 89% approval rate from subject matter experts and a 96% approval rate from media experts. The material is also considered highly practical, based on a 92.65% approval rate from teachers and a 94.20% approval rate from students. The effectiveness test showed a significant improvement in learning outcomes with a significance level of <0.05. The N-Gain values of 0.5634 for the small group and 0.6083 for the large group fall into the moderate category. Thus, this medium is considered appropriate, practical, and effective for IPAS learning, and the use of game- and art-based learning media can serve as an effective alternative learning strategy in creating active, creative, and enjoyable learning experiences for elementary school students.
National education aims to develop the potential of students to become people who are faithful, have noble morals, and have character in accordance with the noble values of Pancasila. The purpose of this study is to explain the role of teachers in shaping students’ character through Pancasila education in fourth-grade students of Bringin 02 Public Elementary School. The type of research used is a case study, with a qualitative approach. Primary data sources such as fourth-grade students and homeroom teachers, and secondary data in the form of articles, books and others relevant to the research. Data collection techniques consist of observation, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using techniques namely data collection, data reduction, data presentation and conclusions. The validity of the research data is tested with Credibility Test and Confirmability Test. The results of the study indicate that the character of good manners of fourth-grade students requires consistent habituation through Pancasila Education. Teachers have carried out the roles of educators, motivators, and evaluators optimally. Supporting factors involve role models and self-will, while obstacles include low awareness and negative influences from the peer environment. Semarangan style dance as an identity of Semarang City is essential to be introduced in order to preserve local culture through innovative teaching materials. This study aims to explore the characteristics of Semarangan style dance, identify strategies for enhancing students’ critical thinking skills related to local culture through digital encyclopedias, and examine the improvement of students’ critical thinking abilities. The research employs a qualitative descriptive phenomenological approach involving 30 elementary school students and teachers in Semarang City. Data were collected through observation, interviews, focus group discussions, and document analysis, and analyzed using interactive analysis techniques. The findings indicate that Semarangan style dance embodies geographical conditions, socio-cultural values, and the multi-ethnic character of Semarang society. Strategies to enhance critical thinking are implemented through stages of dance appreciation, practice, analysis, and evaluation. In conclusion, the use of digital encyclopedias is effective in improving students’ critical thinking skills in cognitive, kinesthetic, and character dimensions. The implications of this study suggest that Semarangan style dance-based digital learning media can serve as an effective model for integrating local cultural content into elementary education, supporting culturally responsive pedagogy and character education. Furthermore, this research provides a pedagogical framework for educators to utilize digital encyclopedias as innovative tools to foster critical thinking while strengthening students’ cultural identity. At a broader level, the findings contribute to efforts in local cultural conservation by positioning traditional dance as a dynamic learning resource within contemporary digital education contexts.
Problems in writing instruction can be caused by the use of learning media or models that are not sufficiently relevant. Digital learning media such as the E-Big Book are considered to have the potential to increase student engagement because they combine text, images, and interactive activities. This study aims to develop the Descriptive E-Big Book media based on the Writing Workshop model, test the media’s validity, and assess its effectiveness in improving the simple sentence writing skills of second grade students at Imama Islamic Elementary School. This study employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). The results showed that the Descriptive E-Big Book media, created using the Canva Pro application, received a content validity score of 96.875%, a linguistic validity score of 96.875%, and a media validity score of 93.75%. The average score of the 26 students was 88.11, which meeting the minimum passing score of 70. This indicates that the development and implementation of the Descriptive E-Big Book learning media based on the Writing Workshop model is effective in improving simple sentence writing skills among second-grade students in elementary school.
This research aims to develop, test the feasibility, and effectiveness of Syllabox media based on syllabic methods to improve the reading ability of informative texts for class II students at SDN Pandeanlamper 03. The research method used is Research and Development (R&D) with the ADDIE model. The research subjects were class II students who were involved in small-scale and large-scale trials. Data collection techniques include observation, interviews, questionnaires, documentation, as well as pretest and posttest. The results of material expert validation show a feasibility level of 98.33% and media expert validation of 93% with a very feasible category. The results of the effectiveness test show a significant increase in the ability to read informative texts, proven through the paired sample t-test and the N-Gain value in the medium category. Thus, the Syllabox media based on syllabic methods was declared feasible and effective for improving the ability to read informative texts in class II elementary school students.
The Miniature Micro Hydro Power Center (MHPC) is a learning media development designed to improve critical thinking skills in elementary science education. The operation of this miniature resembles that of the actual MHPC Karekan, located in Banjarnegara, Indonesia. This study aimed to develop the MHPC Miniature media, evaluate its validity, and test its effectiveness in enhancing students' critical thinking skills. This research employed the Research and Development (R&D) method, using the ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation) model. The research stages included an assessment of teacher and student needs, followed by product validation by material experts (one science lecturer and five experienced teachers), technicians, and nine practitioners. To test its effectiveness, 102 fifth-grade students from the Ki Hajar Dewantara Cluster in North Purwokerto District were selected as the research sample. The sample was divided into an experimental and a control group using a cluster sampling technique. Data from the posttest were analysed for normality and homogeneity before an Independent-Samples T-Test. The results indicated that validation by science experts and practitioners yielded a Content Validity Index (CVI) of > 0.85, indicating the media is highly suitable for learning. Furthermore, the Independent Samples T-test showed that the experimental group using the MHPC miniature performed significantly better than the control group, which used only video-based media (ρ < 0.05). In conclusion, the developed MHPC miniature is a valid and effective tool for fostering critical thinking skills in elementary science learning. These findings imply that integrating contextualized miniatures into the science curriculum can bridge the gap between abstract concepts and real-world applications, providing a scalable model for innovative STEM education.
The lack of innovative technology-based learning media significantly impacts student learning outcomes. This study aimed to develop practical, feasible, and effective mobile learning media for fourth-grade elementary school dance lessons to enhance academic achievement. The implication of this study is that the learning process becomes more engaging through the integration of technology- based instructional tools. The research utilized the Research and Development (R&D) method with the ADDIE model. The subjects included one subject matter expert, one media expert, one teacher, and 36 fourth-grade students. Data collection techniques included pre- and post-tests, as well as non-test methods such as observation, teacher interviews, documentation, and questionnaires. Data analysis was conducted using the Shapiro-Wilk normality test, T-tests, and N-Gain tests. The feasibility analysis of the TERBATIK media indicated that it was highly feasible, with ratings of 100% from the subject matter expert and 93% from the media expert. Response rates from the teacher and students were 93.7% and 93.1%, respectively, placing them in the highly practical category. The normality test results were normal, with pre-test scores of 0.098 and post-test scores of 0.096 (ρ > 0.05). The effectiveness analysis via the T-test showed a significance value of 0.000 (ρ < 0.05), with the average score increasing from 55.6944 in the pre-test to 87.3611 in the post-test. The N-Gain score was 0.7313, representing the high category. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the TERBATIK media is feasible, practical, and effective in improving the learning outcomes of fourth-grade dance classes. These results imply that integrating mobile learning applications into arts education not only modernizes traditional dance instruction but also provides an accessible, interactive platform that bridge the gap between cultural content and digital-native students.
Limited use of interactive learning media in elementary schools had contributed to low student engagement and unsatisfactory music learning outcomes, particularly in learning about musical instruments diversity. Therefore, technology-based learning media appropriate to students’ characteristics were required. This study aims to develop and evaluate the feasibility and effectiveness of a musical instruments diversity application to improve students of Grade IV music learning outcomes. This research employed a Research and Development (R&D) method adapted from the Borg and Gall model. The research subjects were Grade IV students at Protomulyo 1 Elementary School, Kendal Regency. Data were collected through interviews, observations, documentation, questionnaires, and tests, then analyzed using descriptive analysis, normality testing, N-gain score, and paired sample t-test. The results showed that the application was very feasible, with media expert validation of 96.8% and material expert validation of 95.3%. The paired sample t-test showed a significant value (2-tailed) of 0.000, and the N-gain score was 0.815, indicating high effectiveness. The study concluded that the developed application was feasible and effective in improving Grade IV students’ music learning outcomes, offering a practical model for integrating technology into elementary music education. The findings imply that the strategic integration of interactive mobile applications can bridge the gap between traditional music curricula and digital-age learners, providing a scalable framework for enhancing cultural literacy through technology-driven instruction.
This study aims to conduct a diagnostic assessment of Phase A students' numeracy skills through multivariate analysis of the pattern of accuracy and speed of answers using the Finger Math method. This study is based on the still low numeracy skills of Madrasah Ibtidaiyah students and the dominance of conventional learning approaches that pay less attention to aspects of the student's numeracy process. This study uses a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design in the form of a factorial design. The research sample consisted of 100 second-grade students of Madrasah Ibtidaiyah (Phase A) in Manado who were divided into an experimental group (Finger Math) and a control group (conventional). Data were collected through a numeracy test and analyzed using One-Way MANOVA. The results of the study show that the Finger Math method has a significant simultaneous effect on the accuracy and speed of calculation (Wilks’ Lambda = 0,045; p < 0,001). Further univariate ANOVA tests showed a very significant effect on counting accuracy (F = 830,277; p < 0,001) and counting speed (F = 1.094,872; p < 0,001). Descriptively, students learning with Finger Math demonstrated higher accuracy and faster completion times than the conventional group. These findings confirm that Finger Math is effective as both a learning strategy and an initial diagnostic assessment for comprehensively mapping the numeracy profiles of Phase A students.
This research aims to develop, determine the feasibility, and test the effectiveness of Augmented Reality-based Flashcards on the topic of cultural diversity in improving elementary school students' learning outcomes. The research method used is Research and Development (R&D) using the Borg & Gall development model. The subjects of this research were fourth-grade students at SDN Bringin 02 Semarang. Data collection techniques included interviews, observations, questionnaires, tests, and documentation, which were conducted in November 2025. The research instruments consisted of interviews, documentation, needs and response questionnaires, pretest and posttest questions, and expert validation sheets. The pretest and posttest trial questions were analyzed using validity, reliability, item difficulty index, and item discrimination index calculations. Data analysis was performed using normality tests, T-tests, and N-gain tests. The results of this research are the creation of a feasible and effective augmented reality-based flashcard medium to improve fourth-grade students' learning outcomes in Natural and Social Sciences, specifically on the topic of Indonesian cultural diversity at SDN Bringin 02. Therefore, this medium can be recommended as an innovative learning alternative for elementary schools to support interactive and meaningful Natural and Social Sciences learning.
This study aims to analyze the forms of oral traditions and values of the surviving Ngadhu Bhaga ethnic oral traditions at Ngada Regency that could potentially be used as learning materials in elementary schools. The method used is a case study with a qualitative approach. The data collection was conducted through observation, in-depth interviews with traditional figures, the Education and Culture Office, and documentation. Data analysis uses Campbell's model with a concept-setting approach. Research results show that the Ngadhu Bhaga ethnic oral tradition is still widely found in folktales, myths, legends, and pantuns, and has a potential cultural wealth to be used as contextual learning material. Values such as cooperation, respect, responsibility, and local wisdom are contained in the tradition and are highly relevant to instilling them in students early on. The oral traditions acquired in this study are Inerie folklore, Bu'e Wio folklore, Watu Kaba story, Wolo Watu Ata story, Ngadhubhaga myth or ancestral travel legend, and Ngadhubbhaga traditional proverbs. Stories – these stories and proverbs contain high values that are highly relevant to strengthening student character, and also serve as a form of preservation of local culture in elementary schools. This study recommends that this form of oral tradition be integrated into Indonesian, PPKn, IPS, and also the Art of Culture.
Mendoan is a traditional Banyumas food that is still preserved to this day. Besides being an icon of Banyumas, mendoan also has a history and symbolic meaning that needs to be understood by the younger generation of Banyumas as a characteristic and identity. The purpose of this study is to identify the history, manufacturing process, and symbolic meaning of Mendoan and its relevance in local content subjects at the elementary school level. This research is a descriptive qualitative research. The data in this study are information from various sources about the history, manufacturing process, and symbolic meaning of mendoan and its relevance in learning. Data sources are informants, events, and documents. Data collection methods are interviews, observation, and document analysis. Data analysis techniques use the Miles and Huberman analysis technique with symbolic meaning using Roland Barthes' theory. The results of the study show that the history of mendoan is related to the accidental origins of making mendoan, the process of making mendoan goes through several stages, and the symbolic meaning of mendoan is related to the meaning of the word mendo in the Banyumasan language which means middle which shows the characteristic of Banyumas society. All of these materials are relevant to be used as local content learning materials for elementary school level. From the research results, it can be concluded that mendoan is a cultural icon of Banyumas. At the same time, preserving and promoting local culture as part of local wisdom learning for elementary school students.
This study aims to describe the current conditions of numeracy literacy learning in elementary schools and analyze the needs for developing microlearning-based e-modules as an innovative solution to support the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum. The study was motivated by the fact that numeracy instruction in schools remains dominated by traditional approaches, with limited integration of contextual digital media and minimal innovation in teaching practices. A descriptive qualitative approach was applied, involving five elementary schools in the Moyudan District, Sleman Regency, Yogyakarta Special Region. Participants consisted of five fifth-grade teachers and 83 students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through classroom observations, semi-structured interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model. The findings revealed that while teachers recognize the importance of strengthening numeracy literacy as a 21st-century competence, they face various challenges, including limited time, insufficient digital pedagogical training, and the unavailability of relevant learning materials. The results highlight that the microlearning approach is pedagogically relevant because it provides concise, contextual, and interactive learning experiences that enhance students’ conceptual understanding and engagement. The study concludes that developing microlearning-based e-modules has significant potential to improve the quality of numeracy literacy learning in elementary schools, supporting a more adaptive, participatory, and technology-integrated learning environment.
This study aimed to develop a digital comic based on Indonesian historical heritage and to examine its feasibility, practicality, and effectiveness in enhancing elementary school students’ higher-order thinking skills (HOTS). The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the ADDIE model, which consisted of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation stages. The participants involved 35 fifth-grade elementary school students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through expert validation sheets, teacher and student response questionnaires, and HOTS tests administered through pretests and posttests. The data were analysed using descriptive percentage analysis and paired sample t-tests. The results showed that the developed digital comic was categorized as very feasible based on expert validation, very practical based on teacher and student responses, and effective in significantly improving students’ HOTS as indicated by the statistical difference between pretest and posttest scores. These findings suggested that digital comics integrating Indonesian historical heritage could serve as an innovative and engaging instructional medium for promoting higher-order thinking in elementary social studies learning. The study implied that culturally contextual digital learning media could support HOTS-oriented instruction and contribute to the development of more meaningful and interactive learning environments in elementary education.
