
Objective Determine fluoride content of main foods in drinking brick tea fluorosis areas,and know intake of fluoride level of the residents living in drinking brick tea fluorosis areas from foods.Methods Heating acidic immersion FISE method,and diffusion FISE method. Results There was no significant difference of fluoride content of main foods in the endemic drinking brick tea fluorosis area as compared with that of nonfluorosis area in Inner Mongolia(P0.05).The difference of fluoride content of foods in endemic fluorosis areas,Aba county,Sichuan province Inner Mongolia Chenbaerhuqi county was singrificant,but mean of fluoride content of these foods was lower than that of permitted amount worked out by China (1~1.5mg/kg).Conclusions Fluoride level of main foods were not main source of intaking fluoride of residents living in the endemic drinking brick tea fluorosis area. Objective To study the mechanism of NOS activity change in myocardium with cardiac dysfunction.Methods A model of rat with cardiac dysfunction caused by volume-overload was duplicated in this paper.The expression of iNOS mRNA in myocardium was detected by in situ hybridization,and the iNOS was tested by immunohistochemistry assay.Results The iNOS gene was expressed abnormally in myocardium of rats with cardiac dysfunction caused by volume-overload.Conclusions The increase of the NOS activity in myocardium of rats with cardiac dysfunction was mainly attributed to abnormal expression of iNOS gene,and it was also suggested that the abnormal expression of iNOS in myocardium may be involved in the pathogenesis of cardiac dysfunction.
Objective In order to evaluate whether iodine deficiency disorders(IDD) can been eliminated by salt iodization only,the investigation was conduceted between 1996 and 1998.Methods The measure of iodized salt,urine iodine and total goiter rate in puples aged 8~10 years was conducted in 5 primary scholls selected according to their location.The urine iodine level was determined by acidize,the goiter rate was measured by palpation and ultrasonography.Results All the indicators of iodized salt,urinary iodine and total goiter rate are reached national criteria for elimination of IDD.Conclusions The goal of eliminating IDD by the year 2000 can be reached through salt iodization only.
Objective Study the effects of iodine on the red cell immune system and SOD activity in Wistar rats.Methods C3b sensitized yeast cells and C3b unsensitized yeast cells were used to detect C3b receptors and immune complex on red cells,method of xanthine oxidase was applied to detect SOD activity in red cells.Results It was observed that the rosette rate of red cell C3b receptor,the rosette rate of red cell immune complex and SOD activity of red cells in iodine excess Wistar rats were higher than those of normal rats.There was no statistical difference for those between iodine deficiency and normal groups.Conclusions These results suggest that iodine excess can lead to red cell immune hyperfunction.This could be one of pathlogical factors for autoimmune reactions in thyroid induced by iodine excess. Objective Observe the iodine level of people after iodinated salt supply for one year in non-en- demic area of iodine deficiency disorders (IDD). Methods Pupils,as target population,from 30 primary schools selected by PPS were included in this study.Random urinary samples from these pupils were collected and iodine concentration was measured;thyroid size was determined by ultrasonography and palpation;and salt samples from pupils' homes were collected and iodine level was measured. Results Among 1206 pupils,goiter rate of 3.90% was found by palpation and 3.07 % by ultrasonography. Median level of urinary iodine was 231.01μg/L,and fre- quency study showed that proportion for persons whose urinary iodine concentration less than 100μg/L was 15.5%. Proportion of households consuming effective iodinated salt was 87. 98%.Conclusions The results showed that iodine level of people was increased greatly,but still under the safety point after one year iodinated salt supply in Shanghai. Although more and more patients with large thyroid were reported by doctors,this study did not support relation between this situation and iodinated salt supply.
