
This study analyzes the effects of managing target cost and development time for a new product on achieving target quality level, which should be simultaneously considered in New Product Development(NPD) processes, and on sales weights of selling new products which is one of the NPD performances through the mediating role of achieving target quality level. Besides, we also explored whether R&D resource input intensity as moderating effect influences the effects of managing target cost and development time on achieving target quality level. As the results of this study, from the perspective of small and medium sized manufacturers and the first tier suppliers who play a leading role in customer and market change by developing new products before their competitors for the main products, we could empirically identify that the management of target costs and development time showed positive(+) influences on achieving the target quality level of new products. Furthermore, as a result of empirically examining the mediating role of achieving target quality level in order to specifically understand the relationships between the management of target cost along with development time and the sales weight of new products, it has a partially mediating role in the relation between the management for target cost and the sales weight, and it has fully mediating role in the relation between the management of development time and the sales weight. Finally, we found that there is no moderating effect in the positive influences of target cost management on achieving the target quality level as the size of the R&D resources increases.
Since the start of the terminal operating company(TOC) system in Incheon''s inland port, various measures have been discussed to stabilize the management of the operator following the continuous decrease in volume since 2007. However, as the company experienced difficulties in the current state of operation both internally and externally, it was decided that the integration of the TOC, which had been discussed as a way to improve the management of the Incheon inland port operator. As a result, it was launched in 2018. This study was intended to quantify the qualitative satisfaction level of the service by investigating the post-integration satisfaction level of customers using the Incheon port following the launch of the integrated company. In addition, the purpose of the project is to collect diverse Voice Of Customer(VOC) to discover logistics process improvement factors and improve satisfaction level. The satisfaction survey was divided into three major factors: ''sales service'', ''port operation service'' and ''port authorities service''. The average satisfaction level, or “port authorities service,” was 54.4, the highest in three categories. The results of the ''sales service'' average satisfaction survey showed 51.8 points, and the ''port operation service'' had the lowest average satisfaction score with 50.0. This study is the first integrated the case of a single company in line with the government''s initiative, and it is believed that it can contribute to the development of port logistics with the launch of a successful fully integrated corporation by reflecting the economic effects, productivity comparison analysis, qualitative indicators of satisfaction, and preference when integrating into other ports.
This study analyzed the effects of IT and Process cooperation approach on supply chain performance through information sharing and supply chain strategies. In addition to the direct impact of IT/Process cooperation and supply chain performance, an analysis of indirect mediation effects linked to information sharing and the implementation of supply chain strategies was performed. Through theoretical review of each concept, the structural equation model and hypothesis were established and tested, and IT/Process cooperation had a positive impact on supply chain cost performance and IT cooperation had a positive impact on supply chain service performance. In addition, this study examined that the relationship between IT/process cooperation and supply chain service performance was mediated through information sharing and supply chain responsive strategy, and the relationship between process cooperation and supply chain cost performance was mediated through information sharing and supply chain efficient strategy. And information sharing was shown to have a mediation effect between IT/Process cooperation and supply chain strategies, supply chain efficient strategy had a mediation effect between information sharing and supply chain cost performance, supply chain responsive strategy had a mediation effect between information sharing and supply chain service performance. This study contributes to the literature on a series of processes in which IT and Process cooperation approach are linked to information sharing, supply chain strategies and supply chain performance by theoretically explaining, and in practice provides a step-by-step guide for establishing and pursuing supply chain objectives in the organization.
With increasing interest in and the significance of the logistics industry in the Republic of Korea, it is essential for logistics educators to meet the educational requirements in higher education institutions (HEIs), which are of high importance to the industry. However, there is no comprehensive research that organises information on HEIs offering logistics majors. Using higher education data in Korea, this study scrutinises the present situations of 37 Korean HEIs regarding logistics majors. Cluster analysis, used to group university curricula according to similar characteristics, identified five different groups, which demonstrates that the focus of the curricula at such HEIs differs. The findings of this preliminary study will provide basic understanding concerning logistics education in Korea and suggest some direction for further academic research.
This research first focuses on the efficiency of logistics by comparing the efficiency of the provinces and cities according to the DEA/BCC model while breaking down the comprehensive efficiency into pure technical efficiency and scale efficiency. Second, the Malmquist model is used to compare the efficiency of the units in different time frames. The efficiency of the decision-making units is analyzed dynamically, and we broke down the total factor productivity index into technical progress index, pure technical efficiency change index, and scale efficiency change index looking at the specific factors that affect the efficiency of logistics. Third, a Tobit regression model was used to analyze the factors as the efficiency of the evaluation results are linked: the level of economic development, location factors, investments, length of transport line, and employees. The main findings are: (1) in the provinces and cities along the Belt and Road, only Shanghai and Fujian’s logistical efficiency is optimal, and the logistical efficiency of other provinces and cities still have great room for improvement, and (2) the influence on the Belt and Road Initiative in logistical efficiency (from high to low) are location factors, employees, investment, the level of economic development and length of transport line.
A Digital Assorting System (DAS) is a logistics system to assort the products in distribution centers that handle fresh products. High levels of productivity to maintain their freshness are required for a distribution center. We developed two discrete event simulation models to evaluate productivity that are person-following robotic carts based DAS and worker-based DAS. Besides, we conducted simulation experiments by setting several scenarios for checking the factors such as the number of products, product popularity, the capacity and number of people-following robot carts, and speed. As a result, we confirmed that decision-makers should consider several factors such as system layouts, the size of products, and the waiting time caused by blocking among the people-following robot carts to outperform the existing DAS.
