
Aim: Purpose of this existing study is to investigate the quality services through patient satisfaction using SERVPERF-model. Methods: For this purpose survey approach was used. Cross-sectional primary data was collected form 100 patients of two public sector hospitals. Data was analyzed in SPSS. Mean, standard deviation, correlation and regression were used. Findings/Results: It was found that there is positive and significant relationship found between predictors and criterion variables. Moreover only reliability factor has significant impact on patient satisfaction.
Abstract Background: Pakistan is a developing country of South Asia and currently facing many challenges and public health especially maternal health is one of the emerging issues. There is limited empirical evidence on the out of pocket expenditure (OOPE) on selection of public and private healthcare facility. This area was overlooked in the research and the current study has tried to investigate the impact of OOPE on public and private hospital selection for delivery and postnatal care. Methods: survey approach was used. Primary data was collected from the Rajanpur district of Punjab Pakistan. Descriptive statistics and backward binary logistic regression were used. Non-probability convenience sampling technique was used for selection of sample size. Total 368 completed questionnaires were used in the analysis. Findings/Results: results revealed that Results also revealed that mothers with high in age, education were found significant and their spouse with government jobs, self employed prefer to go to public sector hospitals for delivery. Those respondents having income between 10 thousand PKR to 20 thousand PKR likely to go to public sector facility and mothers having more children such as 3-4 or above like to go public hospitals for delivery. Moreover distance from home to hospital and transportation charges and OOPE also play significant role in selection of healthcare facility. On the other hand age of mother, transportation and distance from home to hospital does not play any significant role for postnatal care while remaining factors such as education of mother, occupation of mother and household head, family income, number of children and out of pocket medical expenses plays significant role in selection of hospital for postnatal care.
Background: there are fewer rescuers than victims and number of health workforce is limited in Pakistan especially during pandemic and health workers have to work under great pressure and stressful environment. There is immense need to provide them empowerment in these difficult times. Aim: The purpose of the current study was to investigate the impact of fear of Covid-19 (C-19) on the workplace stress of medical staff with confounding influence of psychological empowerment Material & Methods: quantitative survey approach was used. Cross-sectional primary data was collected. Mean, standard deviation, cronbach alpha, correlation and hierarchical multiple regression were used in SPSS. Findings: results revealed that psychological empowerment acts as confounding variable between fear of COVID-19 and workplace stress in medical staff.
ABSTRACT: Background: Diabetic retinopathy (DR) is one of the leading cause of blindness worldwide and laser therapy has a basic role in the control of diabetic retinopathy. Green laser therapies are performed both for proliferative diabetic retinopathy and diabetic macular edema. The aim of our study was to determine the frequencies of different stages of diabetic retinopathy in patients undergoing laser in our setup. Materials & Methods: This descriptive study was conducted at the department of Ophthalmology, Gomal Medical College, D.I.Khan, Pakistan from January 2015 to December 2019.The sample consisted of all the diabetic patients undergoing green laser procedures during this period at Eye Unit, DHQ Teaching Hospital D.I.Khan Pakistan. Results: Out of a total of 1,893 green laser procedures performed for diabetic patients from January 2015 to December 2019, 1,011 were male and 882 were female. 969 (51.1%) patients were having relatively early stages of DR, 676 (35.7) patients had advanced DR and 248 (13.1%) had diabetic macular edema (DME). Conclusion: Laser therapy is frequently needed for the control of diabetic eye disease so keeping in mind the disease burden the laser facilities should be expanded in our setup.
Background: Recently released Global Hunger Index has put India’s effort in the field of nutrition in a conundrum. Despite significant steps taken to improve nutrition, India is grappling with double edged sword of Malnutrition. Malnutrition, under or over, has affected many countries across the globe. Objective: This article explores the ground reality in the meadow of Nutrition status revealed by National Family Health Survey (NFHS)-5 data for 36states/UTs in India. Material and Methods: It explicitly evaluates the success and inadequacies based on parameters and comparing them with NFHS-4 data. The paper takes on the panoramic view of all forms of malnutrition in different sections as well as the various initiatives and existing programs addressing this issue. Findings: Among the 22 states, 16 states recorded an increase in underweight and severely wasted fewer than 5 children, which were surveyed during the first phase of the NFHS -5. The NFHS-5 data again revealed that except for Goa & Diu all the states / UTs have shown an increase in the percentage of overweight children over the past 5 years. Conclusion: We need timely nutritional interventions, full immunization, and supplementation programs. PoshanAbhiyan components should be implemented using Inter sectoral convergence and use of technology (ICT) for better service delivery.
Background: COVID-19 and lockdown brought consequences like stress, anxiety, depression, social and physical distancing and it has significant impact on well-being, health of people, life style, quality of life, dietary habits and increase several public health issues. Aim: the main purpose of this current study was to investigate the impact of psychological factor son eating habits of people during lockdown. Methods: Survey approach design was used using emotional eater questionnaire (EEQ). It has 10 items. Population of the current study was residents of Hyderabad state India. Questionnaire was distributed using Google forms in Facebook, emails, WhatsApp groups and Instagram. Total 211 completed questionnaires were used in the analysis. SPSS was used for statistical analysis. Findings: results revealed that there is significant difference and change observed in eating habits of people before lockdown and during lockdown. Conclusions: it is concluded that during lockdown people prefer comfort food which directly increase risk of diabetes, cardiovascular diseases. Due to no or limited physical activities people gained weight and other psychological problems such as anxiety, stress and depression. There is need to focus on the diseases pattern built during lockdown. Implications: several non-communicable diseases such as diabetes and heart diseases increased during pandemic lockdown therefore it significantly increased the burden of non-communicable diseases on healthcare organizations. There is needed to make policies to reduce and control expenditure on non-communicable diseases.
Objective: The objective of the current paper is to investigate the use of electronic patient records (E-PHRs) among elder people and those with low income. Elder population due to low awareness, literacy rate, low income level and lack of training and experience felt difficulty while assessing E-PHRs. Background: Use of PHRs has been increasing in healthcare organizations. Patients’ involvement in managing health has been crucial. However, scars and spars literature is available about use of PHRs in elderly people. Material and Methods: The nature of the current study is quantitative and nature of data is cross-sectional. Survey approach was used. Self-administered questionnaire was distributed among 30 elderly people. Questionnaire consists of two sections. First is about demographic information such as gender, age, literacy and second section are about awareness, lack of experience, training and resistance to new technology. Frequency, percentage, and mean values are calculated in SPSS. The reliability of the questionnaire was checked by Cronbach alpha. Results: Findings indicated that highest mean value is scores by lack of experience followed by resistance to new technology. Moreover all the constructs met the threshold for reliability. Conclusion: It is concluded that hospital administration focus on training on elderly population. Motivate them to use new technology, make it user friendly and raise awareness about using E-PHRs and its benefits. Practical Implications: This study has practical implications for health practitioners, policy makers and ministry of health. Policy makers cannot ignore the importance of E-PHRs while making policy. Budget is required for training, raising awareness and motivating elderly population to use E-PHRs but it has long term benefits in future. Both health care professionals and patients can take benefits from use of E-PHRs.
Aim: Medical waste generation was significantly increased during pandemic due to excessive use of face masks, plastic, syringes. Many countries during pandemic successfully reduce medical waste (MW). The purpose of this current study is to highlight the management and treatment process of MW so that personnel responsible for collecting, transporting and disposing of the MW keep themselves as well as environment safe help in reducing MW and spreading infections. Study Design: Review, Conceptual, Material and Methods: Articles published in Scopus, Web of Science, Pub Med, and EBSCO were downloaded for literature. Different keywords such as Waste treatment, Recycling of Waste, Waste Management (WM) were used for search of literature. Articles included in this study were chosen on certain criteria. Those articles which are published between 2017-2023 were included and those which match the keywords were included in the current study. Those articles which do not match the criteria were excluded. Results: There are five main themes emerged as the main findings of this study. These are waste generation, segregation, collection and transportation, recycling, treatment, and disposal. Conclusion: It is concluded that authorized personnel must be allowed to touch and dispose of the MW. These personnel must be provided with adequate training so that spread of infections can be prevented.
Aim: To evaluate the basic knowledge of doctors about retinopathy of prematurity, dealing mostly with ROP in pediatric and ophthalmology departments. Study Design: Quantitative, cross sectional study Place and Duration: Ayub Teaching Hospital Complex, Abbottabad from 1st April 2022 to 8th April 2022 (one-week duration) Material and Methods: After explaining the whole scenario to the participants, a questionnaire was handed over to them which contained different questions regarding ROP. Data response was saved, evaluated and then analyzed in terms of percentages of response. Excel spreadsheets and SPSS v.25.0 were used wherever required. Results: Total number of participants were 57 out of which 23 (40.35 %) were males and 34 (59.65%) were female. Majority of the doctors were house officers 27 (47.37%) followed by residents 20 (35.09%) and consultants 10 (17.54%). Mostly were from paediatrics department (67%) followed by ophthalmology department (31%). 94% had basic knowledge about ROP. About 48 % were unaware about screening protocols for ROP and 50% were unaware about treatment modalities. Conclusion: ROP is very ignorable entity especially for doctors working in neonatal ICU. Majority of doctors don’t have proper awareness about disease and need to be trained well in order to prevent and manage the disease by proper and timely referral to ophthalmologist for further planning.
Aim: Objective of the existing study is to find out the associated factor of which play significant role in financing OOPE in choice of delivery by households in district Rajanpur, Punjab, Pakistan. Background: In Pakistan health expenditure is a main issue when it commes to Out-of-pocket expenditure is considered as major challeneg. Housholds resort to different coping strategies with the increase in OOPE on health care, including maternal care. Material and Methods:Nature of the data was cross-sectional and study setting and location was in district Rajanpur, a predominantly rural district in Pakistan. Data was collected in time period of october 2020 to december 2020 from 368 mothers using multi-stage random sampling, in the selected Basic Health Unit areas were included in the study. Data were collected through a pretested inteview schedule translated in Urudu langage. Results: Savings or current income were the primary sources of financing OOPE on delivery care by 90% of respondents, followed by borrowing reported by 35% of respondents who borrowed money from friends and relatives to cope with the current expenditure on delivery. Low-income families used multiple sources to meet the burden of OOPE, and a significant proportion of them had resorted to borrowing (41.5%) and sale of household assets (23%) to meet OOPE on delivery care. The study concludes that despite various government initiatives to improve maternal healthcare services in Pakistan, most rural families have incurred OOPE in seeking delivery care.
Aim: To find the effect of Methotrexate therapy on visual functions (visual acuity, contrast sensitivity, color vision, glare sensitivity, visual field) and ocular adnexa Study Design: Descriptive cross-sectional study Place and Duration: College of Ophthalmology and Allied Vision Sciences (COAVS), Mayo Hospital Lahore from September 2016 to November 2016. Material and Methods: A total of 30 patients having psoriasis and rheumatoid arthritis taking methotrexate therapy with different doses and different durations were questioned through a specified performa and then examined for changes in ocular adnexa and visual functions. Results were saved on Excel Sheets and analyzed with SPSS v.25.0. Results: Patients taking methotrexate therapy were found to have affected visual functions with color vision and visual field being more affected as compared to other visual functions. Dosage significantly affects color vision (p=.002) and visual field (p=.001). While in terms of duration, it was analyzed that there is significant relation (p=.006) between duration and the color vision and same was with the visual field (p=.001). Conclusion: Methotrexate therapy has less effect on visual acuity, contrast sensitivity, glare sensitivity and ocular adnexa. However, color vision and visual field were affected due to methotrexate therapy, and neurological visual field defects occur due to long term (1-2 years) therapy.
Background: Lack of physical activities leads to many consequences such as obesity, anxiety, stress, weight gain, depression and burnout. Due to busy schedule of medical students majority of the students overlooked the participation in exercise and physical activities and prefer studies over health. This pattern has brought many issues not only in students but in the societies as well. Aim: Purpose of this paper was to determine the impact of physical activities on academic performance and burnout of medical female students in India. Material and Methods: Survey approach using self-administered closed ended scale was distributed among 250 female students. Non probability convenience sampling technique was used to select the sample size. SPSS and PLS-SEM were used for statistical analysis. It was found that there is significant effect on burnout and academic performance of students due to academic year, physical activities, time played, regularity maintained, no of hours played per week, family restrictions, non-availability of space and laziness. Findings/Results: Measurement model was also found reliable and valid. All factor loadings, AVE and CR values met threshold criteria. It is concluded that taking part in games could reduce burnout, emotional exhaustion, and depersonalization and enhance personal achievement and academic performance. Conclusions: From the findings it is revealed that taking part in any game such as football, baseball, hockey, cricket could bring positive outcomes such as good health, fitness, students become active and come up with new ideas, It is concluded that taking part in healthy activities help the students to develop skills, effectively handle stress, depression and anxiety.
Aim: Purpose of this study was to identify the impact of e-health readiness on user readiness and project implementation. Methods: Survey approach was used. Primary data was collected. Total 245 sample size was selected using convenience sampling technique and completed questionnaires were analyzed in the SPSS. Findings: There is positive and significant relationship between predictors and criterion variables. Moreover significant impact was found on e-readiness but insignificant affect on project implementation was recorded. Conclusions: it is concluded that e-health and telemedicine is crucial for better health services delivery and to improve the quality of health services.
Aim: To study frequency and outcomes of rhino-orbital mucormycosis during COVID-19 infection in a tertiary care setup of KPK. Study Design: Retrospective cross-sectional study Settings and Duration: At Rehman Medical Institute, Peshawar from 1st September 2020 to 30th April 2021 (8 months). Materials and Methods: After taking informed consent and relevant approvals, all patients fulfilling the inclusion criteria underwent history taking to identify risk factors, clinical examination to find extent of infection and laboratory and radiological investigations to diagnose and find management plan. Data readings were save on Excel sheets and analyzed using SPSS v.25.0. Results: Among 59 patients, 37 (62.71%) were male and 22 (37.29%) female. Most of the patients (42.37%) fell between age category of 61-75 years. Overall 42 (71.18%) patients survived. Orbital involvement was present in 40 (67.80%) patients and 20 (33.89%) had to underwent exenteration. Among comorbidities, diabetes was most prevalent in 38 (64.40%) followed by hypertension in 11 (18.64%) while 7 (11.86%) patients had no co-morbid state. Conclusion: Rhino-orbital mucormycosis is very common superadded infection in patients suffering from COVID-19 and involves males more than the females. Most of the mucormycosis patients are either diabetics or on corticosteroids therapy for COVID-19. Orbital involvement in mucormycosis eventually happens in majority of patients and up to one third patients may need exenteration. However, strict diabetes control, judicious use of steroids and early diagnosis and treatment of mucormycosis may increase overall survival rate.

AbstrakPendahuluan: Vulvae merupakan area sensitif dan mudah terinfeksi saat menstruasi karena kuman dapat dengan mudah masuk dan menyebabkan penyakit pada saluran reproduksi. Salah satu gangguan remaja saat menstruasi adalah gatal-gatal di sekitar vulva yang disebut pruritus vulvae. Tujuan Penelitian: untuk menganalisis hubungan perilaku personal hygiene saat menstruasi dengan kejadian pruritus vulva pada remaja putri. Metode Penelitian: Jenis penelitian ini menggunakan kuantitatif analitik dengan desain cross sectional. Populasi seluruh siswa kelas VII MTS Negeri 1 Madiun adalah 141 siswa dan sampel sebanyak 42 responden, dengan menggunakan teknik simple random sampling. Instrumen dalam penelitian ini menggunakan kuesioner, pengolahan data editing, coding, scoring dan tabulating, dalam analisis menggunakan uji statistik Chi-Square dengan α 0,05. Hasil Penelitian : Hasil dalam penelitian ini adalah sebagian besar responden memiliki perilaku personal hygiene menstruasi yang negatif sebanyak 22 remaja (52,4%) dan setengahnya sebanyak 20 responden (47,6%) berperilaku positif, serta sebagian besar 22 responden (52,4%) mengalami kejadian pruritus vulvae, dan hampir setengahnya 20 responden (47,6%) tidak mengalami kejadian pruritus vulvae. Kesimpulan : Didapatkan p value (0,000) α (0,05) yang berarti H1 diterima dan H0 ditolak yang artinya ada hubungan antara perilaku personal hygine dengan kejadian pruritus vulvae di MTS Negeri 1 Madiun. Saran : Responden yang terjadi pruritus vulvae dapat mencari informasi tentang perilaku personal hygine yang benar sehingga kejadian pruritus vulvae dapat dihindari. Untuk menurunkan kejadian pruritus vulvae, responden dihimbau untuk memperhatikan kebersihan vulvae, menerapkan perilaku personal hygine yang positif terutama ketika terjadi menstruasi agar terhindar dari pruritus vulvae. Pola asuh dapat membantu anak kecil dalam belajar mengontrol urin dan fese saat menjalani toilet training. Toilet training ialah isu utama pada masa tumbuh kembang anak prasekolah. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui hubungan pola asuh orang tua dengan keberhasilan toilet training pada anak pra sekolah di BA ‘Aisyiyah Kertosari Babadan Ponorogo.Penelitian ini menggunakan metodologi cross-sectional. Populasi dalam penelitian ini ialah murid BA ‘Aisyiyah Kertosari berusia 5-6 tahun yang diasuh oleh orang tuanya sebanyak 57. Dalam penelitian ini, 36 responden dijadikan sampel dengan metode simple random sampling. Pengumpulan data menggunakan kuisioner dan melakukan uji analisis chi-square dengan tabel 2x2 df = 1.Penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dengan nilai p 0,003, ada korelasi antara praktik pengasuhan anak dan keberhasilan toilet training. Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pola asuh orang tua mempengaruhi keberhasilan toilet training. Peneliti menyarankan supaya mempraktikkan pola asuh demokratis dalam upaya mendorong perkembangan psikologis remaja yang sehat.
Abstrak“Kecemasan yang dialami oleh ibu bersalin semakin lama akan semakin meningkat seiring dengan semakin seringnya kontraksi muncul sehingga kehadiran suami sangat dianjurkan untuk mendampingi ibu selama persalinan karena pengeluaran energi yang banyak ibu membutuhkan perhatian dan kasih sayang, dengan mengusap keringat memberi makanan, minuman, dan semangat selama proses persalinan membuat ibu menjadi lebih senang dan bersemangat sehingga proses persalinan dapat berjalan dengan lancar dan singkat.” “Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui hubungan pendampingan suami terhadap tingkat kecemasan ibu selama proses persalinan normal kala 1 di Rumah Sakit Umum Muhammadiyah Ponorogo.”Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah penelitian korelasi. Instrumen penelitian ini menggunakan kuesioner likert pada perilaku pendampingan suami dan kecemasan menggunakan kuesioner HARS. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan dengan teknik consequtif sampling selama 30 hari mulai tanggal 11 April sampai 11 Mei 2022 sampel berjumlah 34 responden. Penelitian ini menggunakan uji statistik Chi Square dengan nilai p value 0,05.Hasil Penelitian menunjukkan perhitungan Chi-Square dengan menggunakan SPSS didapatkan hasil p value 0,009 dengan df 2 yang berarti lebih kecil dari sebesar 0,05 yang berarti ada hubungan pendampingan suami terhadap tingkat kecemasan ibu selama proses persalinan normal kala I di Rumah Sakit Umum Muhammadiyah Ponorogo. Hasil penelitian ini diharapkan dapat digunakan bahan masukkan untuk pemangku kebijakan Rumah Sakit agar memberikan sosialisasi kepada suami ibu hamil bagaimana mendampingi ibu hamil yang baik selama proses persalinan kala I sehingga dapat membantu kelancaran proses persalinan. Mental health disorders in the community are one of the problems that still occur in Indonesia, sufferers of severe mental disorders in Indonesia still use antipsychotic drugs in reducing psychotic symptoms of severe mental disorder behavior. Drugs taken by people with severe mental disorders for more than five years cause psychotic symptoms that result in weight gain and high blood glucose levels which will cause metabolic syndrome which makes negative and positive behavior increase in people with severe mental disorders. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of Amorphophallus muelleri blume on behavioral changes in severe mental disorders. “The design in this study was experimental with One-group pre-post test with consecutive sampling method, obtained as many as 20 samples of patients with severe mental disorders in Paringan village.” This study was tested using the Wilcoxon test. “The results of the behavioral test using PANSS before the intervention was carried out with a value of 32,9500 and after the intervention the results were relatively low with a value of 22,3000.” Based on the Wilcoxon test, it was found that the p value was 0.000 and 0.000 0.05, so it was concluded that there was a decrease in the behavior of patients with severe mental disorders from being in the moderate category to the mild category. “Thus, it can be stated that there is an effect of konjac glucomanan from porang on improving the behavior of severe mental disorders in Paringan Village, Jenangan. Foot care behavior is a part of primary prevention efforts in diabetic foot management. Foot care aims to prevent the occurence of chronic complications in the form of diabetic neuropathy or the death of nerves of the feet so that it can cause diabetic foot ulcers. This research aims to analyze the relationship between foot care behavior and the quality of life of Diabetes Mellitus patients at RSU Muhammadiyah and Klinik Rulia Medika Ponorogo. The research design used is a correlation study. The population in this study were Diabetes Mellitus patients at RSU Muhammadiyah and Klinik Rulia Medika Ponorogo, totalling 41 patients. The sampling technique was purposive sampling with a sample size of 41 patients. The data were collected with foot care behavior questionnaire and quality of life questionaire (WHOQoL-BREF). Data were analyzed using Chi-Square test using application SPSS. The results showed that the majority of patients had positive foot care behavior as many as 27 patients (65,9%), and 22 patients (53,7%) high quality of life and 19 patients (46,3%) medium quality of life. From this research, it was found that a significant value was 0,020 (α 0,05) so that there was a relationship between foot care behavior and the quality of life in Diabetes Melitus patients at RSU Muhammadiyah and Klinik Rulia Medika Ponorogo. Positive behavior is needed in foot care so that the risk of complications can be minimized, especially the risk of diabetic foot ulcers which will also have an impact on the quality of life in patients with Diabetes Mellitus.
