ABSTRACTPost stroke cognitive impairment is common but remains underdiagnosed and carries a poor prognosis. Attention deficits after stroke are the most common and prominent consequences at the cognitive level of functioning. Deficits in attention can affect the ability to engage with physiotherapy, also affect functional recovery. The treatment of cognitive dei¬cits is necessary because they have a negative effect on functional abilities and quality of life. The objective of the study was to find out the effect of attention specific activities along with conventional physiotherapy on attention and functional recovery in acute stroke patients. Thirty participants between the ages 55 to 75 years with acute stroke selected. Participants were divided into Group A which received conventional Physiotherapy and Group B receiving attention specific activities along with conventional Physiotherapy for 3 weeks of duration. Pre and post intervention assessments were done by using trial making test (TMT) A & B and Functional Independence measure (FIM). The result of this study showed that there is significant difference in pre and post values for both scales except of FIM scores for group A. But when comparing Group A and Group B, group B improved more on TMT and FIM score than group A. The study concluded that attention activities given to the patients along with conventional physiotherapy proves to be more effective in improving the attentional abilities and functional recovery in acute stroke patients than treated with conventional physiotherapy only

Old traditional methods of didactic lectures is one way method whereas virtual lectures is a newer method for online learning and web based learning. We compared the effectiveness and satisfaction of traditional lecture with virtual lecture. 1st year MBBS students were divided in two groups by systematic random sampling, control group was exposed to traditional lectures and study group was exposed to virtual lectures. Both the methods were assessed by MCQ pre and post-test. Students satisfaction survey was done by questionnaire based on Likert’s scale. We found the students were more satisfied by the traditional lectures as assessed by Likert’s scale and there was no statistically significant difference in the assessment of knowledge. The virtual lecture by the teacher was not inferior to didactic lecture by the teacher. Traditional lectures give better understanding to topic as queries are solved during the lecture. Virtual lectures as scenarios of innovation leads us to recognize that these are means and not purposes for the learning of different contents linked to the course plans; that is, they are mediating tools.
Aim: To find out is there any added effects of Mirror Therapy and Motor imagery technique when combined with conventional therapy on lower extremity motor function in sub-acute stroke. Background: Stroke is a common, serious, and disabling global health-care problem. After stroke onset, functional damage persists in 40% of patients and severe disability remains in 15–30%. Motor imagery entails the cognitive task of imagining the performance of a given movement or specific task without physically executing it. This in turn helps to memorize the activities to be performed and initiate it in the affected limb. Mirror Therapy views the reflection of the intact limb in place of the affected limb and hence can be used therapeutically to create a false image of the affected on.Method: 30 patients were selected on basis of inclusion and exclusion criteria. These patients were divided into 2 groups. Group A had 15 patients, they were treated with Mirror Therapy for 30 mins, 3 times/ week. Group B had 15 patients, they were treated with Motor Imagery Technique for 30 mins, 3 times/ week. Conclusion: Mirror Therapy and Motor Imagery Technique can be used as good adjuvant therapy with conventional physiotherapy.

Adolescence is a vulnerable period in a child’s physical and emotional development. The U.S. Surgeon General reports that growing teens are especially susceptible to the harmful effects of alcohol and drugs abuse on the brain. Some of the effects of alcohol and drug abuse may be temporary, but other damage may have a long-term impact on the way a teenager thinks, acts, feels and functions. The adolescent body is very resilient, but it’s not immune to the health risks of substance abuse. One of the biggest health risks of substance abuse in teens, according to the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, is the risk of chemical dependence. When you drink or use drugs on a regular basis, your brain and body come to rely on these substances. In addition, drug and alcohol use can lead to other physical as well as mental disorder.A descriptive study was conducted to assess the knowledge regarding substance abuse among higher secondary students. A total of 150 students were selected through convenient non -probability sampling technique. A self- structure questionnaire is used to obtain information from higher secondary students.Result revealed that the total number of 150 subjects, majority of subjects has moderate knowledge i.e. 86.7%, 12% of the subjects has inadequate knowledge and 1.3% subjects has adequate knowledge regarding substance abuse. The mean score of knowledge regarding substance abuse is 16.86 with SD 3.55.  Majority of thesubjects were in the age group of 17-19 years i.e. 60% and 40% were in the age group of 14-16 years. In this study 58.7% subjects were male and 41.3% were female. The chai -square test depicts that only mother education is associated with knowledge score, else no demographic variable shows any significant association with their knowledge regarding substance abuse.  The study conclude that Majority of the students has moderate knowledge regarding substance abuse and mother educational status is associate with the knowledge regarding substance abuse. The study suggests that there is a need to replicate the study with experimental research design on large number of subjects.

This article deals with classification of expounding predicates in the Uzbek language. Analyzing the sources, 6 lexical-semantic groups of expounding predicates were defined. The most effective ones are informative predicates, we chose lexical-semantic predicates of the verbs “speakâ€, “sayâ€â€ from them. Predicates included in this group have general lexical content of situation which locates in the core of the sentence. Predicates of this group have typological lexical meaning of messages and transmission of information about any situation. The construction of indirect speech is considered as informative predicates. Expounding predicates express why the situation wasn’t a source, but a core of its reason
This article explores the scientific and theoretical foundations of the phenomenon of tolerance, which is one of the most actual issues discussed in the present day science. The author of the article thoroughly analyzes tolerance and its different meanings, it essence, attitudes towards it and approaches of social humanities in the various cultures. The problem of tolerance in the Internet media, multicultural societies in the context of globalization and the features of tolerance are scientifically justified in the article.
This article discusses one of the lexical-semantic groups which characterize predicates evaluatively.Differences from other lexical-semantic groups of estimated-characterizing predicates are expressed not by verbs as informative predicates, but by adverbs “NN…NˆÐ¸-good†and “N‘мон-bad.†Having analyzed the semantic structure in the examples, they determined that the adverb does not have an adjective attribution denoted in the lexical content of the sign. However, in the role of a predicate, the adverb receives an implicit, not structurally expressed, subject relatedness, since outside the category of a person, the category of predicativeness is not realized. The subject in such adverbial predicate is the speaker - the author of direct or indirect speech.
