
Background and Objectives: Among the various agricultural activities, working and driving with farm tractors in different weather conditions lead to fatigue and burnout. The objective of this study was to evaluate the sleep quality of farm tractors drivers in different weather conditions. Methods: Amongst tractor drivers in Behbahan, Eqlid, and Kavar, 90 participants (Kavar: 27; Eqlid: 33; Behbahan: 30) were selected. The required data was gathered using the demographic characteristics questionnaire and standard questionnaire Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI). We used Kruskal-Wallis and Post-hoc pairwise comparison tests to analyze the data (α = 0.05). Results: The results showed that there were no significant differences in sleep quality and sleep quality parameters between different region tractors drivers (P > 0.05); but there were significant differences in mental sleep quality (P = 0.001), in terms of delays in falling asleep (P = 0.02), going to sleep duration (P = 0.04) and between Kavar and Behbehan tractor drivers, and also there are significant differences in going to sleep duration (P = 0.04) between Kavar and Eqlid tractor drivers. Conclusion: Working in critical cold weather (like nights in Eqlid) or critical hot weather (like noon in Behbahan) should be strongly forbidden by providing with a suitable working schedule especially while tractor drivers without driver’s cabin. Drivers’ cabins safeguards drivers against temperature, wind and dust, and, therefore increase their comfort and sleep quality.
This paper focuses on anthropometry studies in Malaysia within a 10 years’ span. In the beginning, Malaysian anthropometry study has only been the interest of researchers from the medical field. However, in the past 10 years, other fields like the engineering and social studies began to explore aspects of anthropometry. Driver’s seat has been the central of ergonomic evaluation and analysis for automotive engineering. The data established for Malaysian driver’s seat includes the seat fit parameters, seat postural angles and seat pressure distributions. There were also studies that revealed that the collected data showed significant mismatches between the subjects and the anthropomorphic test device or better known as crash test dummies. Even though currently there are satisfactory data for Malaysian population, these data have to be reviewed subsequently as shown in many nations because there is usually some progress in growth.

Rice is the most important cereal food crop of India. The total production of rice is estimated at record 116.42 million tones and has area of 43.79 million hectares under rice cultivation. Rice is the basic food crop and being a tropical plant, it flourishes comfortably in hot and humid climate. Manual hand transplanting consumes a lot of energy and time and full of fatigue, but the poor socio-economic condition of the farmers does not allow them to adopt power operated transplanter. Transplanting operation by different research centers have been developed as tworow and three-row paddy transplanter. Keeping this in view fifteen female subjects were selected in the age group 18-45 years. The HR work, HR rest, Oxygen Consumption Rate (OCR), Relative Cost of Work Load (RCWL) and Energy Expenditure Rate (EER) were reduced from 130.8 beats/min to 127.7 beats/min, 70.6 beats/min to 70.2 beats/min, 1.02 l/min to 0.9 l/min, 59.6 percent to 57.8 percent and 21.3 to 20.7 from three-row transplanter to tworow transplanter. All these planters have their own limitations and restrictions. Hence, the present study was undertaken to evaluate the transplanters which will be helpful for the farmers to select the suitable transplanter. The transplanters were evaluated in terms of planting parameters like missing hills, floating hills and buried hills. The field capacity, planting efficiency and field efficiency were also measured to recommend a suitable machine. Threerow manual rice transplanter was found to be better in performance on the basis of total unproductive hills (6.9%), planting efficiency (93%), and field efficiency (72%). The draft requirement for two-row and three-row manual rice transplanter was found to be 7.2 kg and 8.2 kg respectively. The cost of operation for two-row and three-row manual rice transplanter was found to be Rs 7300/ha and Rs 9250/ha respectively.
Background and Objectives: Psychosocial factors are among the factors affecting employee productivity. Since few studies have been done in this field, this study was conducted to investigate the relationship between psychosocial factors regarding productivity. Methods: This cross-sectional and descriptive-analytical study was conducted in 2020 among 105 employees of a food distribution company in Ahvaz. Data collection tools included demographic information questionnaire, Copenhagen Psychosocial Factors Questionnaire (COPSOQ) and Goldsmith Hershey Productivity Questionnaire. Independent t-test, one-way analysis of variance and Pearson correlation coefficient were used to investigate the relationship between variables. Results: The results showed that there was no significant relationship between any of the demographic variables with the score of psychosocial factors and productivity ( P >0.05). Psychosocial factor 2 has a negative and significant relationship with the average score of productivity, ability, role clarity, organizational support, motivation, feedback and credibility. And psychosocial factor 4 has a negative and significant relationship with motivation. The mean score of psychosocial factors, factor 1 and 3 showed a positive and significant relationship with the mean score of productivity, ability, role clarity, organizational support, motivation, feedback and credibility. Conclusion: Considering the role of psychosocial factors on employees’ productivity, it is necessary to consider organizational interventions in order to control effective psychosocial factors. More attention to psychosocial factors in the workplace can play an effective role in the efficiency and productivity of employees and the organization.

Hospital bed is one of the most significant and frequently used healthcare furniture for patients. Most of the hospital beds of the government hospitals in a developing country like Bangladesh lack proper ergonomic considerations. This research aims to assess the design of existing government hospital bed in the context of Bangladesh with respect to different ergonomic problems and anthropometric parameters. Anthropometric measurements and ergonomic data were collected from 230 male patients and 154 female patients of 6 public hospitals of Bangladesh. Dimensions of the hospital bed for patients were collected from different wards of the hospital. Independent t-test was used to analyze the relationship between the anthropometric parameters and bed dimensions. Analytic hierarchy process (AHP) was used to assess the significance of anthropometric parameters with respect to different ergonomic problems. The findings of this research are as follows: (i) common ergonomic problems among the patients are poor blood circulation, fatigue, back pain, ligament strain and muscle/tendon strain, (ii) anthropometric parameters related to these ergonomic problems and bed dimensions are: stature, elbow height, popliteal height and sitting elbow height, (iii) among these five ergonomic problems, muscle/tendon strain affects significantly and (iv) stature is the most significant anthropometric parameter for hospital bed design. A predictive model of bed dimension has been developed using a linear regression method. Finally, a new design of the hospital bed is proposed considering all the related anthropometric parameters.

Carbon-Carbon composites are a new class of engineering materials that are ceramic in nature but exhibit brittle to pseudo plastic behavior. Carbon fiber reinforcements when embedded in carbonaceous matrix material results in Carbon-Carbon composites. Carbon-carbon composites due to their far superior thermo-mechanical properties are used in a number of demanding applications. However, the material is still being used in specific high-tech applications with few exceptions in general industrial applications. The material is extremely expensive and the major challenge is to reduce cost by modifying the various fabrication techniques available. This article review represents a review of some major developments in Carbon-Carbon composites including properties, major applications, and future potential. Improving structural components and elements by various techniques such as matrix reinforcements along with decreasing of manufacturing costs make this family of materials more and more attractive to a variety of engineering applications, especially high-performance applications.
