
The paper expatiates the relationship of locomotive reliability,maintainability with availability.As an example of one locomotive,it presents the evaluation method of its inherent and technical availability and points out that the integrative balance between reliability and maintainability design of locomotive should be considered in order to achieve the specified targets of availability.
This article briefly introduces the latest developed domestic powerful AC-drive passenger electric lo-comotive(type DJ 2).Its overal structure,technical characteristic and main technical parameters are described in gen-eral,and its calculated trac tion behavior is analysed.Hence,it is pointed out that AC-drive represents the developing trend of Chinese traction power in the21st cen tury.
