
Employer branding is the process of promoting a company, or an organization, as the employer of choice to a desired target group, one which a company needs and wants to recruit and retain. The purpose with this study was to explore how employer branding is used by SMEs as a way to experience competitive advantage. In order to become a preferred brand the organizations need to have a congruence between what its core values, vision and mission is and the brand value proposition it wants to create. For any employer branding initiative to work effectively the policies and practices of the organization need to be in sync with the employer brand that it wants to propagate. But in digital era of e-commerce organizations are focusing on social media to brand the organization. Social media is one of imperative tool for employer branding. Present research study is dealing with implementing organizational strategies for employer banding using social media with special reference to Small Medium Enterprises. These online Medias can be used to keep in touch with the employees, can be used for employee engagement and involvement and helping them with work issues being faced. With this study we have proposed a model that will help SMEs in communicating their Employer Branding to their present as well as potential employees.
High levels of efficiency are possible in any organization when the administration of business practices goes on well i.e., by ensuring the effective functioning of operations management. Every organization faces various challenges in managing their activities. The purpose of the present paper is to study functions of Operations management in Recruitment process outsourcing (RPO) companies and identify the various challenges faced in their activities. The interacting nature of Operations Management with other functional areas helps to handle complex interdisciplinary problems. Taking this as basis, the study also brings out the strategies to address the challenges by RPO companies i.e., analyzing the mediating role of OCB, as it is evident from the literature that one of the vital roles of citizenship behavior is to enhance productivity. This paper is purely exploratory in nature. Review of literature is a strong foundation for finding the functions and challenges of Operations Management in general. Personal interaction with the employees of the RPO companies is the main source of data collection in particular to RPO companies’ Operations management.
Kheema is a traditional South Asian meat dish, which is used as stuffing and filling agents in many products and Kheema refres to minced meat. Mutton Kheema Biryani was prepared by using minced mutton, it was an Indian non-vegetarian food was prepared as per recipy. It was the heterogeneous product with minced mutton and rice, gravy was prepared first from minced mutton and using masalas, and that gravy (Kheema) was mixed with rice in the ratio of 40: 60. The Readyto-eat (RTE) Mutton Kheema Biryani was packed in four layer retort pouches and processed in a steam-air retort with overriding pressure at the temperature of 121.1°C. Time-temperature data was collected during heat processing using and heat penetration characteristics were determined. The total process time (TB) was 34 min with a F0 value of 6.09. The product was evaluated for its shelf stability under room temperature for a period of 2 months. On storage, changes in moisture, total fat, protein, free fatty acid (FFA), and Peroxide value (PV) were determined at every 15 days intervals. Moisture, water activity, protein content and ash content of the product did not show any significant changes and the total fat content was found to decrease during storage. FFA, PV and TBA values were found to increase 0.826 ± 0.06, from an initial value of 0.589 ± 0.002, 2.848 ± 0.024 from 3.273 ± 0.094 and 0.874 ± 0.031 from 0.348 ± 0.031 respectively. Microbiological analysis revealed that product was commercially sterile and fit for consumption. The samples were rated well by the taste panel and remained in good condition even after storage period.
This paper presents a simplified control technique for a dual three-phase topology of a unified power quality conditioner. The Dual UPQC is composed of two active filters, a series active filter and a shunt active filter (parallel active filter), used to eliminate harmonics and unbalances. Different from a conventional UPQC, the Dual UPQC has the series filter controlled as a sinusoidal current source and the shunt filter controlled as a sinusoidal voltage source. Therefore, the pulse width modulation (PWM) controls of the Dual UPQC deal with a well-known frequency spectrum, since it is controlled using voltage and current sinusoidal references, different from the conventional UPQC that is controlled using no sinusoidal references. In this paper, the proposed design control, power flow analysis, and experimental results of the developed prototype are presented.

The role of databases is increasing in all enterprises. Data mining has become a fundamental approach that helps all enterprises to analyze data for various purposes. The operations research field has contributed significantly to find solution of numerous data mining problems as optimization problems. Several operations research applications can also be addressed using data mining methods. This paper provides a survey of the intersection of operations research and data mining and provides comprehensive references to other important work in the area. This paper also looks at both the different optimization methods that can be used for data mining, as well as the data mining process itself and how operations research methods can be used in almost every step of this process. Promising directions for future research are also identified throughout the paper. Finally this paper provides a description of the basic concepts and methodologies of influential DM techniques, and discusses how OR can be applied to these techniques.
Banana is one of the most consumed fruits in tropical and subtropical regions of Southeast Asia, belongs to family Musaceae and class Liliopsida. Banana is the fourth largest fruit crop of the world. Banana is cultivated in nearly 120 countries in the world. India is the largest producer of banana and ranks first in the banana production in the world during the year 2012–13. The total world production of banana is 10.53 million tons in the year 2012–13, and having market value equivalent to 55, 000 crores. The Gujarat account for 17.10% of banana fruits produced in India and ranks second in the production of banana fruit after Tamil Nadu in 2012–13.
Recently consumers have become more health-conscious in their food choices and as a result, the market demand for “retortable food pouches” has increased rapidly. The retort available in the market is of high cost and also occupies huge space with cumbersome operating procedures. The present study focuses on designing and fabricating a mini model retort at low cost to suit for house-hold purposes so as to enable small-scale food processors to make use of the technology. The newly fabricated mini retort with inbuilt heating coil and air compressor is cost effective, compact and also requires ‘single phase’ power connection which enables its usage in villages, houses, messes etc. Also three different types of foods viz: Fluid (milk), solid (maize), and particulate (vegetable kurma) were preserved using the fabricated mini retort based on their respective F0 Value. The retort processed food products were stored in Room temperature and were analyzed for its quality parameters viz: Bio-Chemical Analysis, Microbial Analysis and Sensory Evaluation during the storage period. The TPC and Coliform was analysed for every 30 days of storage and was not detected in any of the sample till 120 days of storage. Biochemical analysis and Sensory evaluation also depicted that the products could be stored for 120 days with better nutrition retention and overall acceptability. Hence, thefood products viz., Milk, Maize and vegetable Kurmacan be stored for 120 days using the mini retort.

Such food offers a health benefits may include the prevention or reoccurrence of disease. The neurons in the human brain affected primarily up to the certain range of condition is termed as Neurodegenerative disease and the rapid degeneration of nerve cells are resultance of debilitating condition that caused by incurable neurodegenerative disease.
Starch is the most abundant carbohydrate in chickpea seed and is considered to be competitive in the food industry. The study was aimed to investigate the invitro digestibility and functional properties of chickpea resistant starch through repeated (five cycle) retrogradation process. Chickpea starch was subjected to retrogradation (12IoC with 30 minutes) and different storage time intervals of 24, 48 and 72 h at 4oC. The invitro digestibility and functional properties of native chickpea starch (NCPS) and treated starches were determined according to the standard procedures. Water binding capacity (WBC) and solubility of treated starches were significantly (P<0.05) increased whereas swelling power was (P<0.05) decreased than native chickpea starch. No significant difference was observed in bulk density (BD), moisture and dry matter among the starches. Compared to native chickpea starch, the RS content of treated starches were significantly (P<0.05) increased with time of storage whereas RDS content was decreased except in T2. The SDS content of treated starches were significantly (P<0.05) decreased than native chickpea starch (NCPS). Hence, repeated (five cycle) retrogradation was one of the methods for resistant starch formation and it can be used in the preparation of bakery products.
This study aims to assess the efficacy of prebiotics on the growth of probiotics (Bacillus subtilis and Saccharomyces cerevisiae) for enhancing the growth performance of broiler chicks. Probiotics are microorganisms that are fed to animals and are responsible for production of vitamins of the B complex, that aid in digestive enzymes, and for stimulation of intestinal mucosa immunity, increasing protection against toxins produced by pathogenic microorganisms. Prebiotics are non-digestible food ingredients that stimulate the growth of bacteria in the digestive tract by enhancing the immunity and mineral absorption, and other gastrointestinal diseases, and lowering cholesterol. The suitable media and its composition for the growth of bacteria and yeast with the bioprocess parameters such as pH, temperature and incubation period were optimized. The effects of prebiotics with varying composition as supplements for the better growth of bacteria and yeast as probiotics were estimated.
Jackfruit (Artocarpus heterophyllus. L) Bulbs are rich in energy, dietary fiber, minerals, vitamins and an healthy fruit to relish. Jackfruit in India has hundreds of genotypes and all of them could not be successfully converted into value added products due to immense variations in physical and biochemical qualities of fruits. Squash is a fruit based beverage with pleasant taste and aroma. In this study, an attempt was made to process matured jackfruit into squash from five popular genotypes, namely, HV-1, Swarna halasu, Muttomvarikka, Lalbagh madhura and HRS. Deseeded jackfruit bulbs from five genotypes were processed into squash as per FSSAI specifications. The processed squashes were filled into pre-sterilized glass bottles and sealed. The bottles were then pasteurized at 90–95°C for 15 minutes. Results demonstrated that the physical and bio-chemical properties of jackfruit bulbs varied significantly among the genotypes. The pH of bulbs (5.2–5.0), TSS (37.2–23.7°B), acidity (0.23–0.40%), ascorbic (acid 5.0–3.57 mg/100 g), reducing sugar (35.71–22.17%) and total sugar (65.50–35.71%) were found varying among the genotypes. Also, pH of squash (3.2–4.5), TSS (37.7–40.0°B), acidity (0.35–0.50%), ascorbic acid (3.6–5.0 mg/100 g), reducing sugar (22.72–35.71%) and total sugar (45.4571.42%) varied among the genotypes. The sensory scores showed that the genotypes Muttomvarikka and HV-1 excelled high in the sensory scores with respect to overall acceptability (8.00) compared to rest of the other genotypes.
The Pro12Ala polymorphism of the Peroxisome Proliferator-Activated Receptor-Gamma 2 (PPAR gene) is known to be associated with metabolic syndrome. However, studies reported in south Asian population are rare. Hence, it was thought of interest to carry out this research. The study was registered in Clinical Trial Registry of India (CTRI) and Ethical Approval was obtained from Institutional Human Ethical Committee. The target populations of the study were young adults (65 male subjects) in the age group of 18–24 years. The aim of the study was to identify the frequency of pro12ala polymorphism and investigate possible association with the presence of various parameters of metabolic syndrome. The Pro12Ala genotypes were determined by PCR-restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP). The parameters for metabolic syndrome were assessed based on ATP III criteria. The anthropometric measurements such as height, weight, BMI, waist hip ratio were measured. Total cholesterol, HDL cholesterol and triglycerides were determined by spectrophotometery method. LDL cholesterol was calculated by the Friedewald equation. The fasting blood glucose and blood pressure were also measured. The subjects were grouped based on BMI latest Asian cutoff. The frequencies of PPAR gamma 2 genotypes were found to be PP type, 83 Per cent; PA type, 17 Per cent; and AA type, 0 Per cent. Genotype frequencies were found to obey Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium. The various parameters of metabolic syndrome such as fasting blood glucose, waist circumference, triglycerides, HDL cholesterol and blood pressure were correlated statistically with PPAR Gamma genotype.
Raw milk is not commercially available. Pasteurisation of raw milk not only kills harmful bacteria but also kills the beneficial bacteria. Several of milk's natural components including beneficial bacteria, food enzymes, natural vitamins and immunoglobulin are heat sensitive. These health-promoting components of natural raw milk are destroyed by heating and therefore not present in pasteurised milk. All health-promoting components in milk are retained when it is processed in pulsed electric field where there is no generation of heat. Voltage pulses of 35KV/cm, 400 square pulses of 2.5 microseconds pulse width were applied to the raw milk filled in a parallel plate pulsed electric field processing chamber. Physico chemical parameters (pH, acidity, TSS), microbiological parameters (SPC, coliform), were studied before and after processing. Sensory attributes and shelf life studies were conducted after treatment. It was found that there was no change in physico chemical parameters before and after treatment. It was found that the SPC count was less than 15000 cfu/mL and no coliforms were found. The shelf life of milk at 4°C could be extended to 28 days.
Erythrocyte morphology is one of the most sensitive indicators of toxic impact of various environmental factors on fish. Present investigation deals with the assessment of deleterious effects of heavy metals, cadmium and copper on the structural alterations of RBCs of a freshwater air-breathing catfish, Heteropneustes fossilis (Bloch). On exposure of the fish to the toxicant at concentrations of cadmium (2.4 ppm) and copper (0.3 ppm) for a period of 30 days, the erythrocytes exhibited marked alterations in structure such as lobopodial projections, shrinkage of cell membrane and clumping of cells. Different types of alterations observed were echinocytes, spherocytes, acanthocytes, crenated, rhomboidal and racket shaped cells. The cellular damage of fish erythrocytes on treatment with cadmium and copper lead to physiological malfunctioning and hence RBCs SEM study might be utilized as a sensitive indicator of metal pollution.
The rapid growth of population has paved way for the vast spread of healthcare. Huge amount of data are available from which predictions can be attempted. Contemporary approaches predict a patient's disease based on the disease rules generated by decision tree algorithms. The number of attributes considered for predicting a disease varies based on algorithms. This paper applies Amoeba algorithm for generating decision rules and rules are stored in Hbase. Amoeba algorithm does not require confidence and support for finding frequent itemsets. The attributes considered for rules generation in Amoeba algorithm are also less compared to Apriori and Fp-growth algortihms. So efficient processing is guaranteed. Basically, data are available in structured, semi-structured and unstructured form. Text mining is employed to convert different forms of datato structured data and store in Hbase. The patient can predict a disease and know the risk of the disease further by comparing the disease rules with patient's current status and family history. This paper proposes a Smart Healthcare System(SHS) using Hadoop with Text Mining which can efficiently predict disease based on the data available.
Image processing play a vital role in blood vessel extraction from the fundus image. Retinal vessel segmentation is important for the detection of eye diseases and plays an important role in automatic retinal disease screening systems. Automatic detection and analysis of the vasculature can assist in the implementation of screening programs for vessel diameter measurement in relation with diagnosis of hypertension, and computer-assisted laser surgery. Segmentation retinal anatomical structures are the first step in any automatic retina analysis system. Detection of large vessels is relatively easy due to their strong contrast against background in the images but detection of small vessels is much more difficult due to their low contrast in the images. The proposed method uses a new filter to extract the thin vessels. Also the proposed method has been tested with various set of retinal images. The images used for retinal analysis were collected from DRIVE database.
Big Data is promising for business application and is rapidly increasing as a segment of the IT industry. It has generated significant interest in various fields, including the manufacture of healthcare machines, banking transactions, social media, and satellite imaging [3]. The rapidly expanding field of big data analytics has started to play a pivotal role in the evolution of healthcare practices and research. It has provided tools to accumulate, manage, analyze, and assimilate large volumes of disparate, structured, and unstructured data produced by current healthcare systems. Big data in medical field also refers to the patient care data such as physician notes, Lab reports, X-Ray reports, case history, diet regime, list of doctors and nurses in a particular hospital, national health register data, medicine and surgical instruments expiry date identification based on RFID data. Healthcare organizations are depending on big data technology to capture all of this information about a patient to get a more complete view for insight into care coordination and outcomes-based reimbursement models, health management, and patient engagement. To improve the quality of healthcare by minimizing the costs, it's necessary that large volume of data generated should be analyzed effectively to answer new challenges. Similarly government also generates petabytes of data every day. It requires a technology that helps to perform a real time analysis on the enormous data set. Big data analytics helps in discovering valuable decisions by understanding the data patterns and the relationship between them with the help of machine learning algorithms [1].
