
Halal tourism is developing fast in response to tourist demands for Islamic values-based tourism products and services. Halal tourism development is actually able to drive the local economy through the opportunities of small businesses and creative industries for local communities. Such tourism development in Indonesia is still lagging behind other countries due to the inaccurate understanding of halal tourism itself. This is an exploratory study that aims to provide an understanding of the concept of halal tourism through a review of various literatures and analysis through data reduction for general inferences. The results of the study show that the concept of halal tourism in the past perspective was exclusive, in the present perspective is inclusive, while in the future perspective is universal. In the future perspective, the concept of halal tourism has become a necessity for both Muslim and non-Muslim tourists to enjoy the local wisdom, enjoy the halal products, consume safe products, and respect socio-cultural values. The study offers a novelty, i.e. the mapping to understand the concept of halal tourism in the past, present, and future perspective. Most research concluded that the development of Islamic tourism was associated with business and economic factors, namely the matter of seeking benefits from the development of Muslim tourism behavior. Research on Islamic tourism only made the connection between religion and tourism behavior but it did not examine the increasing awareness of Muslims in their obedience to sharia. This article aimed to compare the results of research on the development of Islamic tourism in various countries, both those with a majority of Muslim population and those which are not. This study applied a qualitative approach and chose a literature study to examine the data. In addition, research studies on the development of Islamic tourism provided other variations of the causes of the tourist variants development, namely political factors. Jakarta Convention Centre is one of the venue where many events are held. The problem faced by Jakarta Convention Centre is the fluctuating and declining of the number of events that are held. Based on the results of pre-research, they are caused by the dissatisfaction of the client in holding the event at the venue. Therefore, Jakarta Convention Centre should have strategies to overcome these problems. Thus, the researcher chose the venue quality as a solution that can be applied to get client satisfaction to raise the number of event held at Jakarta Convention Centre. The independent variable (X) used is the venue quality consisting of interaction, environment, and value. The dependent variable (Y) is customer satisfaction. The type of research used is descriptive and verifikatif with explanatory survey method with cross-sectional approach. The sample in this study is 82 respondents, who are the clients who used the venue of Jakarta Convention Centre with sampling technique used is simple random sampling. Data analysis technique used is multiple regression. The application of venue quality at Jakarta Convention Centre is in the high category, in the variable assessment venue quality (expected) is the environment which gets the highest rating while the value dimension gets the lowest rating. Then the response regarding the venue quality (perceived performance) at Jakarta Convention Centre is in the high category, the interaction dimension gets the highest rating and the value dimension gets the lowest rating. This research aims to examine the use of Learning Management system in tourism higher education by gaining perspectives from the lecturers as Generation Y and the Universities Students as generation Z. Analyzing views related to experiences and expectations of the learning system in the future. Focus group discussion and a semi-structured interview were conducted, followed by an extensive literature review. Lectures and students prefer to use blended class learning which combines traditional face to face attractive learning classroom and elearning management system as necessary enhancements. Most of the Lectures prefer to share the reading materials, upload and conduct the assignment from the online learning management system, but they still felt that it is better to discuss with students directly in the class. However, Students prefer to learn from the reading materials, consult the assignment and do interactive study in the classroom, but agree if they can download the documents online. The system would not replace the strong point of interactive learning in the class. Unaccustomed and incapability along with instability of the internet access became the obstacles. It is known that the internet altered the business model of the travel industry. Due to the exponential growth of its' users, several companies established online booking services. For instance, Traveloka.com and Tiket.com in airline ticket booking and the Rajakamar.com in hotel reservation. Online Travel Agencies (OTA) have been gaining important attention in recent years. Yet, limited literature focuses on discussing the development of such services in Indonesia. The research's purpose was to analyze the development of OTAs in Indonesia, particularly in its services, employment, and users. The study involves 52 Indonesian OTAs. A structured interview and website-based observation had been done. The results show that only a few OTAs offer direct payment system, while most agencies located in the capital city, Jakarta. Moreover, most of OTAs is on the Business-to-Consumer state. Meanwhile, most of the founders were an entrepreneur with information and technology background. Furthermore, the most popular service offered was the tour and travel ticket sale. There are several suggestions outlined for future research and practical implications for OTAs. The results of the study showed that there was a high level of intolerance and potential for radicalism in West Java. The current field studies in six regencies and cities (Sukabumi Regency, Sukabumi City, Cianjur Regency, Kuningan Regency, Indramayu Regency and Cirebon City) in West Java showed that there was no specific policy focused on the terrorism counter sector. In fact, it is only a form of integration into the program of "Defending the State and Nationality Insights". Similarly, in Tasikmalaya Regency, there was no specific policy focused on preventing and countering terrorists. Therefore, those aforementioned cases were the reasons for the researchers to analyse the implementation of radical terrorist counter policies in Tasikmalaya Regency. In addition, it was also important to study the contents of the radical terrorism counter policies in Tasikmalaya Regency. The purpose of the study is to analyse the implementation of government policies in eradicating radical terrorism in Tasikmalaya Regency. This study employed a qualitative approach with descriptive methods. In this study, the data collection techniques were carried out through document studies, interviews, and questionnaires. The qualitative data analysis was carried out through data orientation, data exploration, and member check. Then, the research subjects were the Regional Government of Tasikmalaya Regency for of counter and control of the radical terrorism movement program, FKUB, Community Leaders, and the community. The results of the study showed that: 1) the development of the notion of radicalism in Tasikmalaya Regency had emerged and spread in several regions. One of the cases was found in Cibatu Village, Karangnunggal District. However, by the time goes by, due to the pressure from the community and all existing components, this seed of radicalism can be taken control; 2) In terms of policies regarding the radical countermeasures of terrorism, in Tasikmalaya Regency, there was no specific policy in relation to the radical movement counter. However, fortunately, the counter and control program for the radical terrorism movement has been executed by the FKUB institution in collaboration with the local government of Tasikmalaya Regency. The role of GIS in tourism development has been known as an effective tool. Its ability to group the spatial data based on certain criteria is very helpful for decision making in the tourism sector. In this study, GIS is used to analyze the readiness of the region in developing its tourism sector. Four tourism components are used as readiness indicators, namely accessibility, amenities, ancillary services, and attractions. The research method used in this study is the mixed method (Qualitative and Quantitative) where qualitative method is the main method and method of mapping geographic information systems with mapinfo. The sample used is three sub-districts in Purwakarta Regency, those are the districts with a high tourism development in Indonesia. The results of this study are divided into three classes of readiness, namely high, medium and low. In this analysis, it can be concluded that tourist attractions are the main components that determine the level of regional readiness for tourism (0.13). The use of GIS in determining the final category of regional readiness is also very effective because it is able to map spatial data in detail, based on its weight and score. The strategic location of Taman Wisata Alam Pantai Carita is not far from the capital city of Jakarta and easy to access by public transportation. It takes two hours from Jakarta. Strategic location is supported by its natural tourism potential to be an attraction for tourists. The high level of domestic tourist visit is dominated by DKI Jakarta, West Java, and parts of Central Java. Tourism development in this region is focused on economic aspects. It has an impact on the exploitation of natural resources, human resources and local culture. Empirical facts show that the dimensions of sustainable tourism are in a weaknesses position. Fundamental weaknesses in this region are (1) Destination Management Organization (DMO) has not been applied; (2) the absence of concepts and efforts to conserve nature and culture carried out by stakeholders; (3) there isn’t carrying capacity; (4) there aren’t educational efforts and training in the principles of sustainable tourism; (5) there isn’t promotion and campaign for sustainable tourism and; (6) there isn’t monitoring and evaluation program. Culinary tourism is believed to bring both economic and cultural benefits to the community. Bandung which is in Indonesia is known for its innovative and various foods which make Bandung famous as a culinary tourism destination. This study was conducted to analyze the image built within the customer who came to one of the top culinary tourism destination spots in Bandung, that is Sudirman Street Day & Night Market. This study also examined the influence of food image towards customer intention to buy food in that market. The respondents were 200 customers of Sudirman Street Day & Night Market. The data were collected from questionnaires and later on, they were analyzed by using descriptive statistic and regression analysis. The results of this study showed that from all dimensions of food image, only food quality, the attractiveness of food and food culture which significantly influence the behavioral intention of the customer. Hiking is one of the active sport tourism types popular among tourists in Indonesia since many of mountains in Indonesia support this activity. Besides the desire to hike, tourists are also looking for an impressive experience, this perceived experience will then encourage the behavior of tourists in the future. The purpose of this study is to find the dominant factors in shaping the experience of tourists in Papandayan Mountain and Ciremai Mountain. Data were obtained through distributing questionnaires to 400 respondents. Data analysis techniques in this study was Confirmatory Factor Analysis to find the dominant factors in shaping the experience of tourists. Results showed that from seven dimensions, six dimensions can shape the experience of tourists, namely community, hedonism, learning, flow, socialization, and challenge. The marketing to tourism has expanded into numbers of methods, one of them is the use of videograph, which becomes one general strategy in the promotion, but on the other hand still could not increase the amount of visitors. This indicates the need for a new and different strategy to promote the site. Using a sports-based tourism site to promote their business. Tour de Linggarjati, for instance, an international level bicycle racing sport event that had been carried out in 2017, invent a more effective way of promoting a tourism site. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study method which aims to find out in detail the tour de linggarjati activities in increasing the number of tourists. The results obtained show that the tourism promotion model involves elements of local government, the community and organizers of the activity, these three elements are interrelated with one another, and to increase the number of tourists using relations with international sports organizations to give permission and promote sports activities, using media online and mobile marketing as active social media users. This research aims to analyze the factors that are considered by consumer when using online travel agent and to analyze the position of the two online travel agents discussed in this research, which are Traveloka and Pegipegi.com. The data were collected by distributing questionnaires to two hundred respondents who were online consumers of travel agents. This research uses quantitative methods, which are factor analysis techniques and percetual mapping analysis, to answer the research questions. The results of the data processing shows that from the twelve attributes, there are two main factors that become consumer's consideration when using online travel agent. The first one is user friendliness and security and the second factor is web features. Furthermore, the results of perceptual mapping analysis shows that the two online travel agents studied have different patterns based on consumer's perception and have different position in the minds of consumers of Bandung City. Every region has its own excellence that can be special tourism destination of the region. The amount of visitors that come to the offered tourism destination is determined by the presence of attraction in that area. This research aims to analyze some factors that influence tourists's decision to visit a number of tourism destinations. Later, the result will be able to explain the tendency of touriss when visiting a destination. The research was conducted in West Java Province, Indonesia. The method that is used is literature study from various resources and relevant documents. The data was taken from secondary data, which was inventoried and interpreted afterwards. The results show that the factors of weather, climate, and information provided in social media will increase tourist visits to a certain destination. The Province of North Kalimantan which was previously part of East Kalimantan Province is located in two main tertiary sedimentary basins which have a major influence on the process of forming mineral resources in this region. This makes North Kalimantan Province have a geological diversity which is the basic capital for the implementation of sustainable development that can be utilized by local communities through their involvement in geotourism development. In addition, geotourism also contributes to conservation efforts and increased geotourist satisfaction. The purpose of this study is to identify geodiversity that has potential as geotourism attraction and analyze geotourism development opportunities in North Kalimantan Province. The research approach uses qualitative methods with the acquisition of primary data (field surveys) and secondary (desk study), whereas the analysis method uses qualitative descriptive analysis, content analysis, and map analysis. The findings of this study are the identification of geodiversity which has the potential as geotourism attraction in each region in North Kalimantan Province which includes 20 geosites scattered in Malinau Regency (2 geosite), Bulungan Regency (8 geosite), Tana Tidung Regency (3 geosite), Nunukan Regency (4 geosite), and Tarakan City (3 geosite). In addition, opportunities for sustainable geotourism in North Kalimantan are analyzed through geotourism attraction, geotourism activity, interpretation, and existing geotourism development. Interaction between tourists and local peoples are important to make a different experiences and knowledge for tourists that have been come visiting. On the previous study, the research context about interaction was more used in the relation of tourists and local residents around the tourist destination. This research focuses on the context of shape and level of interaction between local homestay hosts and incoming tourists. Qualitative methods were chosen and the data were processed using context analysis by Miles and Huberman model framework. About 26 homestay hosts were used as resource for interviews. The results found that there are 4 forms of interaction between homestay hosts with tourists, there are companion, service, socialization and activity. Batik is originally developed by women to be a craft that contains phisolophy, character and value of art, and becomes a part of Indonesia culture. It is expected that Batik is able to cope with modernization and maintain its tradition at the same time. Batik has been proven to develop rapidly in several aspects, including the realm of tourism. One of the areas where Batik has attracted as an object of tourism and economy is the city of Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Research of Batik as an object and attraction of tourism has begun by reviewing some journals and research results about Batik in Yogyakarta with qualitative approach and action research. The result of Batik research is able to frame the traditions, tourism and economic society that developed in the tourism villages in Yogyakarta. This research needs to be followed up by focusing on stakeholder efforts of governance, tourism stakeholder and society in maintaining Yogyakarta as World Batik City. One of the students’ orientations in choosing a department in college is their future career. However, several previous studies confirmed that learning experiences can influence students' future interest in continuing their careers in line or even leave it. This study aims to investigate the influence of tourism students’ internship experience on their motivation to pursue career in the tourism and hospitality industry. Respondents were 72 tourism students of Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia who have finished their internship programs in 2015. Data collection was carried out for one month in two methods by sending questionnaires to the email of each respondent and selfadministrative questionnaires. Simple linear regression was employed to analyze the data. The result showed that internship program experience did not have significance influence on students’ motivation to pursue career in Tourism Industry. Ciseeng Village is one of the villages in Ciseeng sub-district, which is also the location of Minapolitan Region. Minapolitan development is focus on the fisheries sector. Along with the program, it is known that Ciseeng village has natural resources that are potential to be natural tourism. On the other hand, the village also has shortcomings that need to be fostered. The process of identifying village's potential used SWOT analysis. SWOT analysis used as a tool to recognize the strengths and weaknesses of the village as well as to see the opportunities and threats faced by the village. This study aims to map the facts of potential and constraints that the village has, in order to realize the existing Minapolitan Area by using SWOT analysis. The data analysis technique used in this study is a qualitative data analysis technique. The analysis shows that Ciseeng Village has internal and external potential that will turn the village into a tourism village. The strategy used is in the form of tourism village development clusters, village tourism institutions, and tourism village development with the theme of a unique, distinctive, and healthy tourism village with a Minapolitan perspective based on fisheries excellence. This study aims to identify Bandung residents’ recreation behaviors which are categorized by gender and analyze its differences with statistical test. The research was conducted to one hundred and six selected samples consisting of men and women who currently resided in Bandung starting from the teenagers until the elders. Primarily, survey method was used to collect all the required data by giving questionnaires to those selected samples. Result in this thesis shows that based on manual calculation and statistical test, there is a difference between men and women in Bandung regarding their recreation behaviors although the difference is not so prominent. The implication of this result is directed to managers and planners of recreation facilities in Bandung to open their market segments and target not only for one particular gender and always make provision of basic facilities and infrastructures for each gender as a main concern. The implication of this research is addressed to managers and planners of recreational facilities in order to be able to design recreational activities that can be enjoyed by both genders. Indonesian tourism is one of the contributors to nonoil and gas foreign exchange. This field is very capable, supported by a wealth of local culture, beautiful nature, friendly people. Schools need curriculum tools that address the challenges of the tourism industry. Curriculum in every society or culture should be a reflection of the culture of the community itself. Community participation concerns cultural implications in curriculum development and culture. The elements involved in curriculum development are professional staff and staff from the community. This study uses a qualitative approach with descriptive methods, the research site is in the Bandung School of Tourism involving 30 informants from academics and 5 informants from practitioners, data collection using interviews, observation and documentation, data analysis using data reduction, data presentation and conclusion. The results show that a culture-based tourism curriculum is still focused on developing cognitive abilities and learning activities are still often in the classroom, so there needs to be a restructuring of the administrative and technical aspects of implementing a culture-based curriculum.
