
This paper reports an investigation of a mobile learning technology used across sectors and internationally. The technology developed by the University of Huddersfield is the Wireless Response System – WRS. In order to evaluate WRS, learning activities were conducted in Economics, Engineering, Language and Law departments of European universities and Chinese University, including Huddersfield University in UK. The data collected from the studies evidence the success of the technology and its application. The university students were interested in using it, and we conclude that the WRS can assist classroom teachers with students of different disciplines and countries, especially in observing students’ feedback, concentration and confidence.

Business Process as a Service (BPaaS) is expected to emerge as the next major category of Cloud Computing. The combination of fast expanding technologies with increasing competitiveness will make more and more companies move parts of their business processes into the cloud. This enables them to take advantage of the cloud provider’s expertise and to reduce their cost by sharing resources to exploit economies of scale. In such a multi-tenant setting, the cloud provider has to tailor its business processes to meet the QoS requirements of each tenant. This requires techniques for QoS-aware service selection and prediction. However, there is no one-size-fitsall approach to tackle this challenge. The choice of the most suitable technique typically depends on the particular context and characteristics of the services that are being composed. This paper has the following contributions: To support the provider with the creation of custom-tailored processes, we propose an open middleware that provides the mechanisms to perform requirement-driven customizations on shared process templates. This open middleware supports easy integration of new and existing service selection and prediction techniques.
Crowds provides probable innocence in the face of large number of attackers. In this paper, we present the experimental results of the behavior of Crowds in a dense network. We begin by providing a brief description about Crowds followed by the experimental environment in which the simulations were carried out. We then present the results of our simulations and the inferences made out of them. We will also show that the obtained results match the predictions made by others.
The concept of a cloud operated by one service provider or enterprise interoperating with a clouds operated by another is a powerful idea. So far that is limited to use cases where code running on one cloud explicitly references a service on another cloud. There is no implicit and transparent interoperability. This interoperability should be more than cloud to cloud, it should embody 1-to-many and many-to-many models. Working groups have proposed building a layered set of protocols to solve this interoperability challenge called “Intercloud Protocols”. Instead of each cloud provider establishing connectivity with another cloud provider in a Point-to-Point manner resulting into n 2 complexity problem, Intercloud Directories and Exchanges will help facilitate as mediators for enabling connectivity and collaboration among disparate cloud providers. This paper proposes a mechanism for such mediation utilizing a resources catalog approach, defined using the Semantic Web Resource Definition Framework (RDF) and a common Ontology of Cloud Computing Resources across heterogeneous cloud providers.
