This study investigates the impact of geographical, cognitive, and social proximities on the success of university-industry research collaboration (UIRC) projects. The success of UIRC projects is evaluated by firms' innovative performance regarding whether UIRC leads to innovations that firms can effectively utilize for commercial purposes. The empirical analysis is based on data collected from 153 firms engaged in research collaborations with universities and receiving financial support through the Research and Researchers for Industry (RRI) program, a public research granting initiative in Thailand aimed at enhancing firms' innovativeness through collaborations with universities. The results from ordinal regression analysis reveal that geographical and cognitive proximities improve firms' innovation performance, suggesting that physical proximity and shared knowledge and expertise contribute to the favorable outcomes of UIRC projects. However, our findings do not indicate a significant impact of social proximity on firms' innovations, suggesting that relational aspects alone may not be sufficient for driving successful collaborations. These findings shed light on the importance of geographical and cognitive proximities in fostering successful UIRC projects and their subsequent impact on firm innovation. The outcomes provide valuable insights for policymakers, industry practitioners, and researchers seeking to optimize university-industry collaborations and leverage the benefits of geographical and cognitive proximity.Future studies could further explore additional factors that may mediate or moderate the relationship between proximities and UIRC project success, enhancing our understanding of effective collaboration strategies in the context of university-industry research partnerships.
Over the past 25 years, the economy in general and the Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) market in particular in Vietnam have been fiercely competitive.Every year, our country has many businesses and companies established and many of them have to close and go bankrupt. One of the reasons to explain the failure is that the business cannot determine the demand of the industry in which it operates.Determining demand is difficult, determining factors affecting demand is even more difficult.Consumer demand is not only influenced by factors of consumer income; but also influenced by cultural factors such as religion, belief, age, gender, work, living area and many more.Vietnam, a country with a thousand years of civilization. Therefore, considering the influence of cultural factors on Vietnamese consumer demand for the fast-moving consumer goods industry is extremely necessary. Therefore, an in-depth study using mathematical models to clearly quantify the influence of cultural factors on consumer demand for the FMCG industry will have reference value for businesses, as well as policy makers. This article conducts research to determine the influence of cultural factors on consumer demand for fast-moving consumer goods in Vietnam; as well as compare the differences in consumer demand when they are culturally different. The study conducted expert interviews and quantitative calculations with a sample size of n = 1221 samples from Vietnamese citizens aged 20 years and older.Collected data are processed using SPSS 20 and SmartPLS 4.0 software to test the suitability of research hypotheses and models. The results show that the influence of culture on consumer demand exists.Future research should explore more different professions at home and abroad.
Depressive disorder is a psychiatric problem that has a high contribution to the cause of disability in the world, as it can cause people who experience it to not perform well in daily life which might affect their work life.To help patients who needed immediate treatment, the World Health Organization (WHO) has created a program called Mental Health Gap Action Program (mhGAP) in order to increase development that focuses on monitoring mental health in a globalized world. This research explores several different classification model architectures with deep learning approaches in order to detect Twitter users' tweets that were classified as tweets with depressive disorder and then compare the results between the proposed models. As a result, the Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) model paired with Transformer word representation models has provided better performance when compared to employing Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformers (BERT) baseline classification or LSTM classification models alone. The evaluation of the classification model's architecture reveals that the LSTM model, when paired with MentalBERT, exhibits the highest accuracy performance, achieving an accuracy score of 0.86.This approach leverages the respective advantages of transformer and LSTM models to facilitate the accurate analysis of syntactic and contextual information associated with individual words, hence enabling the appropriate representation or domain-specific of sequential data.
Nowadays, administrators increasingly stress the development of organizational culture, particularly fostering a knowledge-sharing environment in businesses to optimize employee potential and productivity.Joint Stock Commercial Banks hold a pivotal role in the national economy, especially concerning monetary operations, credit services, and payments, underscoring the importance of the payment function.Advisory staff significantly shape the bank's image, especially in these banking institutions. However, knowledge sharing among employees, crucial for organizational success, is often neglected in bank development strategies.Overlooking effective intellectual asset management can result in financial losses and hindered growth. The absence of policies and solutions aimed at enhancing knowledge sharing through improved organizational culture further impedes employee efficiency. Therefore, this study proposes an AHP-based (Analytic Hierarchy Process) approach for selecting knowledge sharing policies in Vietnamese commercial banks.Expert scoring and pairwise comparisons of criteria and policies were used as input to the AHP analysis. The results identified two key policies related to output orientation and Japanese management approaches as top priorities for improving knowledge sharing and employee performance. The research contributes a systematic methodology for integrating qualitative insights into policy selection for banks. For practice, the findings provide valuable guidance for Vietnamese bank executives and policymakers on leveraging AHP to make informed decisions when formulating knowledge sharing initiatives
