This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of dietary supplementing of resveratrol on antioxidant status improvement in hypercholestrolemic rats with Plasmodium berghei. Methods: Rats were divided into 6 groups including rats fed with basal diet (Control group), basal diet containing resveratrol 2.5 mg/kg (2.5 RES), basal diet containing 5.0 mg/kg of resveratrol (5.0 RES), basal diet containing 1% cholesterol + 0.5% cholic acid (Control HC), basal diet containing 2.5 mg/kg of resveratrol and 1% cholesterol + 0.5% cholic acid (2.5 RES-HC), basal diet containing resveratrol 5.0 mg/kg and 1% cholesterol + 0.5% cholic acid (5.0 RES-HC). The plasma levels of total cholesterol (TC), triglyceride (TG), high density lipoprotein (HDL), malondialdehyde (MDA), and low density lipoprotein (LDL) and expression levels of glutathione peroxidase (GPx), glutathione reductase (GR), paraoxonase-1 and sulfiredoxin-1 were assessed. Results: The plasma concentrations of cholesterol, triglycerides, LDL-C and malondialdehyde were significantly higher and level of HDL was significantly lower in hypercholesterolemic rats, but dietary supplementation with resveratrol significantly improved them (P<0.05). Hypercholesterolemic rats showed a decrease in GPx and GR and an increase in paraoxonase-1 and sulfiredoxin-1 compared to the healthy control (P<0.05), but applying resveratrol improved the adverse effects of hypercholesterolemia on mentioned parameters (P<0.05). Conclusion: Resveratrol can be used for treatment of patients with hypercholesterolemia.
Effects of Curcumin on GLUT4, Erα and Insulin Resistance Genes Expression in Polycystic Ovary Syndrome Rats
Aims Malaria is one of most important diseases especially in tropical regions.Flavonoids are known to have beneficial properties that could be profitable.This study aimed to evaluate the effects of nano-phytosomes of Quercetin on liver damages of mice infected with Plasmodium berghei.Materials & Methods A total of 60 male BALB/c mice were intra-peritoneally infected by administration of 106 P. berghei-infected RBCs.Animals were acclimatized for 7 days and divided into 5 groups; 0.9% isotonic saline (as negative control), saline treated (as positive control), 2mg/kg of Hydroxychloroquine sulfate treated for 4 days (HF), 10mg/kg of nanophytosomes of Quercetin treated for 4 days (NQ), and 10mg/kg of nano-phytosomes of Quercetin + 2mg/kg of Hydroxychloroquine sulfate for 4 days (NQ+HF).Histo-pathological parameters and pro-inflammatory cytokines were evaluated.Findings Administration of P. berghei could increase the scores for histo-pathological parameters and levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines (p<0.0001).Administration of Hydroxychloroquine sulfate and nano-phytosomes of Quercetin could alleviate adverse effects of P. berghei on histo-pathological parameters (p<0.05).Conclusion A combination of nano-phytosomes of Quercetin and Hydroxychloroquine sulfate shows the best effect on treatment of Plasmodium berghei infections.

Aims Due to the fact that vitamin D and calcium in diabetes can play a major role in diabetes, and informed of preventive measures.the present study aimed to evaluate the serum calcium and vitamin D status in patients with Type 2 Diabetes.Instruments & Methods This cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted in 2018 with participation of 122 children with type 2 diabetes at Tabriz University of Medical Sciences.Findings The venous blood samples were taken from all children to serum vitamin D and calcium levels and its levels were evaluated with diabetes.The mean serum calcium level was 9.45±0.85mg/dland the average serum levels of vitamin D were 10.99±1.14ng/ml.Serum vitamin D levels were divided into three levels of severe deficiency, mild and natural deficiency; Also, serum calcium levels were divided into two normal and abnormal levels.Body mass index and diabetes time based on vitamin d and calcium group showed a significant difference between groups; This means that the low serum levels of vitamin D and calcium are predictors of diabetes in children.Conclusion Vitamin D supplementation in diabetic children in winter, when the rate of deficiency is very high, can be a practical solution to reduce the problems caused by this deficiency.
Aims About one-third of breast cancer patients occur over 70 years old.Aging leads to the modification of a number of different drugs in the treatment of breast cancer, which provides the basis for incomplete treatment of these patients.The aim of this study was to evaluate the clinical features of breast cancer in elderly women.Instrument & Methods This descriptive study was conducted in 2020 by reviewing the clinical records of all women with breast cancer over the age of 70 over a ten-year period ending in 2020 with a clinical record of 183 patients.Demographic information, type of tumor pathology, clinical stage of the tumor, status of hormone receptors and tumor HER2 protein, type of surgery, type of adjuvant treatment was extracted from the files and used.Findings In 88 non-metastatic patients, there were 90 lymph nodes positive, of which 33 (37.5%) had no estrogen receptor and 55 (62.5%) had estrogen receptor.The most systemic treatment in patients with estrogen receptor-free tumor was chemotherapy (81.8%) and in patients with estrogen receptor tumor, chemotherapy plus hormone therapy (58.2%).there were 40 non-metastatic lymph node-negative patients, of which 9 (22.5%) had no estrogen receptor and 31 (77.5%) had estrogen receptor.The most systemic treatment received in patients without estrogen receptor was only chemotherapy (77.8%) and in patients with estrogen receptor tumor was only hormone therapy (54%). ConclusionThe most common stage of the breast cancer in over 70 years old women is type IIB.polypectomy.
