
Triple Dip La Niña is a term that describes the La Niña phenomenon that lasts for 3 consecutive years. History records that this phenomenon last occurred in 1973–1976 and 1998–2001 which influenced the regional weather system through the mechanism of atmosphere-ocean interaction, one of which was in Lombok. This study was conducted to analyze the impact of the emergence of the Triple Dip La Niña phenomenon on rainfall variability in Lombok from 2020 to 2023, as well as to test the correlation of the ENSO relationship indicated by the ONI (Oceanic Niño Index) indicator with rainfall variables. The data used in this study were monthly rainfall data from 55 rain posts and ONI data from NOAA. The results showed that the influence of Triple Dip La Niña on rainfall variability was observed most significantly in the dry season (JJA) with an increase in rainfall >100%. A strong relationship between the ONI index and rainfall was identified in Senaru, Bayan, Janapria, and Pringgabaya.
Wetland agriculture is vital for global food security but faces unique challenges that hinder conventional mechanization. This study employs a systematic literature review and bibliometric analysis to map the research landscape of autonomous agricultural machinery (ALSINTAN) for wetlands. Following the PRISMA protocol, 195 documents were initially identified, from which 55 relevant articles were analyzed from 2015–2025. Results identified five key research clusters: IoT and real-time monitoring, robotic and autonomous vehicles, artificial intelligence, digital twins, and economics and sustainability, with an annual publication growth of 18.7%. A critical finding reveals that only 22% of autonomous ALSINTAN research specifically addresses wetland contexts, indicating a significant bias toward dryland applications. Major gaps include unreliable sensor and algorithm performance under extreme wetland conditions and a lack of socio-economic adoption studies. The study concludes that a more balanced approach, integrating advanced technical innovation with in-depth socio-economic research, is urgently needed. This is conceptualized in the proposed Wetland-Specific Autonomous Farming System (WSAFS) framework to develop resilient and inclusive autonomous farming systems for wetlands.
The prevalence of stunting among children under five in South Sumatra Province decreased from 24.8% in 2021 to 20.3% in 2023. Lahat Regency showed the most significant decline, while Ogan Komering Ilir Regency had the highest prevalence of stunting. This study analyzes determinants of stunting risk in families (KRS) in these regencies. Using secondary data from Perwakilan BKKBN Provinsi Sumatera Selatan, we examined families at risk of stunting in Ogan Komering Ilir (96,266 households) and Lahat (70,922 households). Univariate and bivariate analyses revealed significant determinants of stunting risk, including: presence of reproductive-age couples, use of unsafe water sources, inadequate sanitation, families classified as 4T (too young, too old, too many, too close), and non-use of modern contraception. These findings highlight key factors that contribute to the risk of stunting in these regencies.
Integrated MSWM is still the target in most developing countries. The factors that influence MSWM performance are integrated not only from the preparation of regulations and funding, but also the preparation of the human resources involved. The planning stage of this model is inspired by the interpretation of the management process by Gunawan et al (2021) and is in line with Terry's (1972) theory which categorizes the management process into planning, organizing, implementing and controlling (POAC) functions. This research characterizes and compiles aspects and indicators of MSWM implementation which are critical issues within the framework of management functions. The goal is to make it easier to recognize the most critical aspects of MSWM implementation. The management function framework in implementing MSWM in this research was prepared using the systematic literature review (SLR) method. In developing countries, the application of MSWM still focuses on the collection system aspect which is the actuating function. In this case, an in-depth study of the planning function is needed, namely how policy and financial support influence the development of an effective technical plan for a collection system. The actuating function does not only carry out technical implementation but is also accompanied by firmness in enforcing regulations and sanctions. Regular monitoring and evaluation are needed to control the effectiveness of MSWM. Supervision requires organized human resource strength. The potential for developing an inventory of elements in each dimension is still needed. This may be caused by differences in the characteristics of the study areas.
Belawan Ocean Fishing Port (PPS) is one of the largest fishing ports in North Sumatra. PPS Belawan aims to increase the income of fishing communities through the provision of fishing port facilities and infrastructure. The study aims to analyze the optimization of the level of utilization of basic, functional and supporting facilities at the Belawan Ocean Fishing Port and to determine the condition of these facilities. The latest conditions in the field through field surveys show that there are several facilities whose utilization levels are not optimal and whose conditions are not good, such as the port pool. The study was conducted at PPS Belawan, North Sumatra from December 15, 2024 to January 15, 2025. The method used in this study is the survey method. The data collected in the study are primary data in the form of interviews with several sources whose daily activities are related to port facilities, namely basic facilities, functional facilities, and supporting facilities. The data analysis used is descriptive which explains the condition of the port facilities and the level of utilization of port facilities from several facilities which can be calculated systematically. The results of the research show that the Belawan ocean fishing port facilities whose level of utilization can be calculated are still not optimal, even far from optimal, while the conditions of all the facilities required to be in ocean fishing ports, namely those divided into basic facilities, functional facilities and supporting facilities are in quite good condition, and can support port operations quite well.
Water hyacinth (Eichhornia crassipes) is a weed that lives in water and has a high growth rate. It has the ability to increase evapotranspiration (evaporation and loss of water through plant leaves), reduce the amount of light entering the water, resulting in a decrease in the level of oxygen solubility in water, disrupt water traffic, and increase habitat for disease vectors. aquatic environment. A solution is needed to overcome this problem, one of which is by composting. In order for composting to take place faster, Starbo AFE and Probio FM activators are used which will provide good quality. this study aims to determine the effect of various activators on the nutrient content of water hyacinth compost, and to determine the best combination of activators on the nutrient content of water hyacinth compost. This research method uses one replication with three treatments (K1 K2 and K3 using Starbo AFE and Probio FM, and K0 without Starbo AFE and Probio FM). This study was conducted in two stages, namely the composting stage. The composting process was carried out for 30 days. Checks are carried out every 5 days in the form of turning and physical observation. After the composting process is complete, nutrient measurements are carried out. Characterization is carried out to determine the levels of C-Organic, N, P, K, and Aroma. The results of this study showed that Starbo AFE and Probio FM are effective against C-Organic, N and K levels and aroma in accordance with SNI.
This research aims to maximize the potential of women's entrepreneurship through cooperative institutions by supporting food independence, creating a targeted strengthening strategy model that can be adopted and applied not only in cooperative and SME institutions but also to all women entrepreneurs. The research was conducted at the BMT Trans Mekar Sari Mandiri Consumer Cooperative in Mulia Sari Village, Tanjung Lago District. The research involved at least 10% of the total population, namely 100 female entrepreneurial respondents using a sampling technique, namely purposive sampling. The method used in this research is a quantitative method. The data obtained in this research consists of primary and secondary data. Primary data was obtained through direct interviews in the field with sample cooperative members (women entrepreneurs) using a list of questions contained in the form of a questionnaire. Secondary data was obtained from agencies related to this research, namely the Banyuasin Regency Cooperative Service as well as literature such as cooperative RAT reports, books, journals, articles, and previous research. To analyze the data was used SWOT analysis. The results of the research conclude that strategies that can be implemented include maximizing women's abundant resources in cooperatives, carrying out cadres according to standardization, formulating rules for the protection of women in entrepreneurship, making it easier for women entrepreneurs to access capital, and collaborating with various parties supporting the development of women's entrepreneurship.
Heavy metal pollution, including lead (Pb), zinc (Zn), and copper (Cu) in swamp environments, is increasing and poses a significant threat to ecosystem integrity and human health. This study aims to evaluate the phytoremediation potential of Eleocharis dulcis in accumulating heavy metals in root, stem, and leaf tissues. The experimental method involved growing Eleocharis dulcis for 20 days in media artificially contaminated with Pb, Zn, and Cu metals at concentrations of 5, 10, and 15 ppm. Observations were made on metal accumulation in plant tissues on days 5, 10, 15, and 20. The results showed that concentration and duration of exposure significantly influenced the pattern of metal accumulation. The highest accumulations were recorded in leaf tissue, specifically Pb at 87.527 mg/kg, Zn at 32.93 mg/kg, and Cu at 43.522 mg/kg. These findings indicate that Eleocharis dulcis has selective metal uptake and translocation mechanisms and high tolerance to heavy metal stress, and has the potential to be an effective phytoremediation agent for the rehabilitation of heavy metal-contaminated wetlands and support sustainable environmental management.
West Sumatera has high fishery potential, particularly for macarel(Thunnus sp), whose presence is influenced by oceanographic factors such as sea surface temperature (SST), chlorophyll-a concentration, and ocean currents. This study aims to analyze the variability of SST, chlorophyll-a, and currents in West Sumatera waters, identify oceanographic indicators of upwelling events, and examine the relationship between upwelling and potential macarel fishing grounds. Using a qualitative survey approach and ArcGIS 10.8, spatial analysis was conducted to determine potential fishing zones. Results indicate SST fluctuated between 28.1°C (February 2023) and 30,4°C (July 2022), while chlorophyll-a showed seasonal variation, peaking at 0.40 mg/m³ in June 2022. Current patterns are influenced by monsoonal winds and global atmospheric phenomena, with stronger currents during the East season, promoting upwelling and marine productivity. Overlay analysis revealed weak to very weak upwelling occurring periodically. Despite the weak upwelling, West Sumatera remains a highly potential fishing area, supported by positive correlations between SST and chlorophyll-a with macarel fishing zones. Regression analysis shows SST and chlorophyll-a negatively affect macarelcatches, whereas currents have a positive influence. Overall, oceanographic variability significantly impacts fishing potential in West Sumatera.
Research is an innovation in utilizing oyster mushroom baglog waste as a material in water filtration, which is being researched and applied to the community. Water samples were 3 samples for each 3 locations taken form two villages, namely: 1) water used for oyster mushroom cultivation in Payakabung Village (S1), 2) water used for household needs in Payakabung Village (S2), and 3) The Indralaya Combined Cycle Power Plant uses water from the Kelekar River, Tanjung Seteko Village (S3). This study was conducted with three treatments and two replications at each water sample location, as follows: Oyster mushroom baglog waste briquette composition: 10% (A), 20% (B) and 30% (C). The results showed that. The filtration can increase the pH value from acidic to neutral value and decrease Fe concentration. However, several water quality parameters (TDS, Mn, NO2-N, NO3-N, Cl2, Cd, Pb, F, BOD , COD, total coliform and Escherichia coli) show varying trends but are still in accordance with the quality standards of existing regulations. Technology validation to the community showed that most of participant understood and 100% considered that the system useful as solution for their water problems.
