Elongation of a sand spit offshore of groins was investigated using satellite images for the convex shoreline near Cabaruan located on the bottom of Lingayen Gulf in the Philippines. Similar to the extension of a large-size sand spit offshore of Santo Tomas, a sand spit was formed by the long shore sand transport turning around the tip of groins at Cabaruan owing to high-angle wave instability. The elongation of a sand spit was numerically predicted using the BG model (a model for predicting 3-D beach changes based on Bagnold’s concept). Predicted results were in good agreement with measured changes in sand spit.
It is now clear that the global pandemic of Covid-19 will have a wider impact on the whole world. At the moment, it is very difficult to say with certainty what the outbreak of this virus will be. In such a situation, it is even more difficult to predict the impact on the international economy, politics and society due to the new corona virus epidemic. But, in today's date it is possible that we can systematically identify the potential areas of the world's major economies, which are likely to have adverse effects of this epidemic. The major reason for the atmosphere of uncertainty regarding the effect of this virus on international politics is that for any logical analysis it has to go through many stages. There are many hypotheses related to each topic, which are assessed.
There is a big pandemic in the world caused by SARS-CoV-2, the COVID-19-causing coronavirus. In mid-November 2019, this disease first reached the human population in Hubei Province, China, and manifested in Wuhan, Hubei's largest metropolitan city, when a cluster of patients with 'extreme pneumonia of unknown cause' were admitted to hospital in early December. While humanity has survived previous infectious agent pandemics, the current one is remarkable in its ability to take advantage of modern globalization, allowing for a startling pace of rapid transboundary spread.
This study examined Maternal and Child Health Media Programmer and Accessibility in selected northern Nigeria Communities. The goal of this research is to generate evidences required for planning behavior change communication towards the attainment of an end to preventable maternal and child mortalities in Nigeria. Behavior change model was used as the theoretical framework. The study adopts quantitative and qualitative research approaches, in which questionnaire and in-depth interview guide were used as instruments for data gathering. Findings show that the stations occasionally report maternal and child health news and discussion programmers. However, majority of women in the selected northern communities do not own or but have access to accessibility devices and as such have difficulties in accessing programmers on maternal and child health. The station’s constraints are difficulty in getting resource persons to take part in the programmers, to finance, and other administrative bottlenecks. While respondents have access to radio and television sets and largely listen to the broadcast on maternal and child health, notwithstanding the challenges of receiving the transmitted programmer such language, signal, timing, lack of power supply and accessibility device. One can conjecture that while respondents in the communities have accessibility devices and receive the transmitted programmes on maternal and child, it is imperative to reposition the media organizations to aid the fight against maternal and child mortality in rural communities of Northern Nigeria.

India is one of the world’s largest film-producing and film-viewing nations. Yet, very little focus has been placed on the subject on the female gender and their sexuality. This research paper focuses on films like Deepa Mehta’s Fire (1996), Shonali Bose’s Margarita With a Straw (2015), Leena Yadav’s Parched (2016), Alankrita Shrivastava’s Lipstick Under my Burkha (2017) dealing with the ‘taboo’ cis-female sexuality. These films received immense criticism and backlash for choosing to subvert the gaze and focusing on controversial things like masturbation, homo-sexual love and sexuality in ‘differently-abled’, hetrosexual sex workers, the meaning of a woman’s sexual consent and sex beyond the constraints of marriage. These films reflect the Indian woman’s unrestrained exploration of her sexuality along with the intersections of Class, Gender and Patriarchy. The reason for taking these films is their unflinching approach of putting female sexual desire at their forefront and allows their female protagonists to breathe as independent sexual creatures. The researcher also tries to show how the nuancing patriarchy or the hetero-patriarchy couldn’t ‘veil’ these 'women' characters. The paper aims at starting a dialogue about the subject, to push the existing boundaries and think beyond the prescribed ‘norm’.
The outbreak of the Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) has been widely covered on major U.S. media. “Chinese Virus” or “Wuhan Virus” became media buzz words especially at the beginning stage of the outbreak, which was feared to fuel anti-Asian hatred both in the U.S. and worldwide. This study examines the news coverage about COVID-19 in relation to Asians, mainly Chinese and China, on YouTube channels of major U.S. media outlets, and explores the relationship between the media framing and anti-Asian sentiments embedded in the comments beneath the news video. By content analyzing 50 news videos covering COVID-19 and Asians from 5 U.S. media organizations and 5000 comments, the findings suggest that attribution of responsibility and conflict are the most frequently used frames by the news reporting. The results also reveal that suspicion of conspiracy, rather than blaming, emerged as the most frequent theme embedded in hateful comments. One promising finding is that the frequency of hateful comments is significantly lower than that of non-hateful comments across all news frame categories.

For a long time now, the media representations of British Muslims, in particular, are the central focus of academic studies. Especially, the terror attacks often receive bias coverage that connects Islam as a faith to such incidents. Notably, the attack on the Manchester arena in May 2017 by an ISIS recruit by the name of Salman Abedi shocked the nation. In the aftermath of the crisis, UK and Western media dominated national and international press coverage. However, little attention was given and received in relation to the coverage provided by British Muslim media by 5Pillars. This article aims to provide a case study of the 5Pillars media coverage of the attack on the Manchester arena in May 2017. Also, it examines the increasing role and impact of ethnic media as a challenger to the mainstream media. Furthermore, it asks significant questions including: Can Muslim media ownership makes their representation better? And is the media really that powerful that it causes harm to the reputation of Muslims worldwide? It proposes to establish alternative news media platforms alongside the mainstream media that dominate news and often either misrepresents or underrepresents the British Muslims.
China imposed a new National Security Law on its Special Administrative Region (SAR) of Hong Kong in mid-2020. The deployment of this legal weapon, combined with other actions of local authorities that have grown noticeably more irritable and vindictive, means that Hong Kong media no longer enjoy the freedom from government restrictions that they had been accustomed to. Hong Kong has thus joined the ranks of the many societies with media environments that are semifree and semi-closed. These societies’ experiences indicate that arrests and bans, while attracting the most attention, are not what inflict the most damage in the long run. As alarming as the on-going legal actions are, citizens’ access to information and ideas is more likely to be restricted by less spectacular and coercive means, including economic carrots and sticks that encourage a culture of self-censorship. Such an environment requires new mindsets and skillsets among journalists.

Among those concerns which they may handle with utmost efficiency is conflicts management which in this study is tested for correlation with organizational design preferences among graduate education students of the College of Teacher Education- Bambang Campus. Tools like profile, organization design preference and conflict management practice questionnaires were used to ascertain the relationship of constructs under investigation. After data analysis using descriptive method of research at 0.05 level of significance, the respondents who were generally female, less than five years in service and mostly specialized in general education displayed organizational preferences which regard leaders to possess roles and functions as authority and conflict management styles which surfaced the emotional maturity of the respondents. Further, the preferences and styles of the respondents vary significantly when grouped according to their specialization but did not yield significant differences when grouped according to their gender and years of service. As a final point, the respondents’ organization design preferences correlate significantly with their conflict management styles.
