Purpose: With the fourth industrial revolution, it becomes necessary to identify how companies are adapting to the use of technologies aimed at cyber-physical production systems. Therefore, this article aimed to develop a mathematical model to identify the degree of maturity of cyber-physical production systems. Design/methodology/approach: The methodology draws from theoretical definitions, followed by a survey, in which 61 medium and large companies from the South of Brazil in the textile and clothing sector participated. Afterwards, a mathematical model was developed with logistic regression. Findings: The results showed that the maturity level was classified as intermediate in the validated textile companies, with opportunities for advances in the implementation of real-time monitoring and other technologies of industry 4.0. This result was expected, given the field studies and observations with companies, which reveal that the mathematical model is valid and can be replicated in other organizations. Research limitations/implications: The restriction is that the model was tested in the reality of the Brazilian textile industries. Originality/value: The originality is to propose a model for using cyber-physical systems as a complement to decision-making in production scheduling with ERP that have finite capacity and thus adding an APS algorithm to assist in monitoring production.
Porpouse: The objective of this research is to examine the relationship between digital skills and satisfaction in the use of food delivery apps, when mediated by perceived quality. This quality is influenced by high demand and, consequently, by complaints and dissatisfaction with the use of these apps during the global crisis of the Covid-19 pandemic. Design/method/approach: A structural model was developed and empirically tested, based on digital skills and satisfaction with food delivery apps, mediated by quality, using data collected from 170 Brazilians between January and February 2023. Findings: The results showed that respondents only demonstrate satisfaction with food delivery apps if they perceive the quality of the apps, and for this to happen, the user must have digital skills. In other words, there is no satisfaction without perceived quality, and for quality to be perceived, digital skills are necessary.Originality/value: A first and second-order model encompassing digital skill level, perceived quality, and satisfaction can offer significant contributions to the literature. This is particularly true when considering digital skill level as a second-order construct, which can be reflective-formative or reflective-reflective. This construct is composed of dimensions such as platform navigation, functional use, creative skills, online problem-solving, social media engagement, and operational aspects. This approach enables a more comprehensive and accurate representation of the concept, overcoming the common limitation in the literature that often treats it as a one-dimensional construct. From a practical standpoint, this model provides valuable insights for organizations, digital platforms, educational institutions, and governmental bodies that need to adapt their services to audiences with varying levels of digital literacy. Furthermore, it deepens the understanding of user experience by demonstrating that perceived quality and satisfaction do not solely depend on product or service characteristics, but also on the individual’s digital competencies.

Purpose: Xenocentrism, the tendency to prefer foreign brands over domestic ones, is prevalent in emerging markets such as Brazil and China. However, few studies have examined its determinants and impact on e-commerce. This study investigates the influence of xenocentrism on online purchase intentions, analyzing how product quality perception, country-of-origin image, purchasing power, status consumption, and social mobility aspirations shape this behavior. Design/methodology: A survey of 311 e-commerce consumers was conducted, and linear regression analysis was carried out. Findings: The analysis confirmed that higher xenocentrism is associated with greater purchase intentions for foreign brands. Psychographic characteristics such as status consumption, perceived inferiority, and brand image significantly contribute to this phenomenon. Research implications: The findings expand the literature on digital consumer behavior, providing strategic insights for global brands and e-commerce platforms. Originality/value: The study highlights the importance of brand positioning, global identity construction, and leveraging psychographic attributes to attract xenocentric consumers.

Objective: Investigate whether there was a change in the pattern of investor behavior in the Brazilian stock market between Jan/2018 and Aug/2024. Design/methodology/approach: The study investigates the behavior of the financial volume of Bovespa standard contract investors (large investors) and Ibovespa mini future contract investors (small investors) in three periods: pre-crisis (2018–2019), Covid-19 crisis (2020–2021) and post-crisis (2022–Aug/2024). For data analysis, multiple linear regression is used. Results: The results indicate: a) the volume of the standard portfolio is not affected by savings or investment funds in the pre-crisis, competes with savings in the crisis and follows investment funds in the post-crisis; b) the volume of the mini futures contract follows the standard contract in the pre-crisis (herd effect), follows the opposite direction during the crisis and has no relationship after the crisis. Therefore, there is a diverse response from investors in different market conditions. The research limitations/implication: Focuses on only two types of investors and does not capture the motivations and/or subjective perceptions of investors. Practical implications: Assists in the development of risk mitigation strategies that promote a more resilient market. Social implications: By understanding changes in investor behavior in different economic scenarios and different types of financial products, it can guide them to avoid making the same mistakes in the future. Originality/value: The analysis of financial behavior in different investment sizes, different economic scenarios and different financial assets.

Purpose: Do technology companies truly adopt horizontal management models? This study aimed to analyze the level of autonomy of individuals in the decision-making process within technology companies, identifying forms of control and contradictions in the interviewees' discourses, through the lens of Adorno's Negative Dialectics. Methodology: The interviewees consisted of 16 professionals working in technology companies, occupying various positions such as founder and partner, CEO, manager, analyst, software developer, among others. Findings: The results indicate, firstly, that even in organizations characterized by higher levels of horizontal management, where greater autonomy of individuals is presumed, some form of "authority" is still observed. The data also reveal that the autonomy of individuals in these technology environments is closely related to the technical competence of the professionals in their respective fields. Finally, it was found that some managers advocate for the autonomy of their employees but still seek to maintain control through various mechanisms, such as budget centralization; management by objectives; creation of formal and standardized structures; and attempts to copy and replicate American management models adopted by companies in Silicon Valley. Originality: In the national literature, there was no national study that sought to analyze horizontal management in the context of technology companies from the perspective of Adorno's Negative Dialectics. In this sense, this study was able to promote a deeper and more critical analysis of the dynamics of power and authority within technology organizations.
