
Green manufacturing (GM) has been garnering the attention of academia since the 1990s, with the evolution of many related concepts, as one of the most essential topics for human beings' sustainable development. After nearly three decades of growth, a general map of existing research is now required to reflect the major concepts and concerns at hand. A bibliometric analysis is used to do this. The main contribution of this research is to concentrate on the use and impact of lean and green manufacturing approaches. The manufacturing industry's frequent issues and misunderstandings are investigated. This study examines the parallels and benefits of both lean and green techniques. It enables industries to have a better grasp of the tools' use and challenges before moving on with the lean and green approach's actual deployment. This report also addresses potential research gaps related to the industry's need for an effective green implementation approach.
For firms to be more competitive in the market, core functional abilities are crucial. They give a business the tools it needs to outperform rivals in terms of performance speed, adaptability, and dependability. Many tools and approaches, such as instruments for quantitative and qualitative analysis, are utilised to analyse these elements. This paper deals with the analysis of attributes using Fuzzy AHP technique. During the analysis different factors have been identified and categorised on the priority basis using the Fuzzy AHP which can help the organisation through better insight of core functional competencies.
A competitive economy - aims to - utilise its factor endowments in the most efficient manner to achieve productivity in a more sustainable and inclusive manner. In Dubai, UAE, a profound drive to achieve economic diversification and create a competitive knowledge-based economy has been evident in the past 30 years. This study looks into the economic competitiveness of the Dubai free zones clusters. SWOT analysis of the business environment and Global Indices were explored to support the argument on the UAE's potential for cluster creation. The Porter's Diamond Model helped assess the competitiveness of the free zones clusters. A cluster map was designed on one of the free zone clusters as a case study to gauge its competitiveness and study value chain components. Based on these analyses; several challenges and policy gaps were identified. Recommendations include, establishing a Federal Free Zone Authority along with enriching private sector partnerships with the public agents to maximise cluster policy benefits.
Core functional competencies have significant effect on the performance of the manufacturing sector as surveyed in the review. These help the firm to stand with the competition in the market by providing innovation in various aspects which are directly or indirectly related to competencies. In this paper previous year's papers have been surveyed to know about the competency based concepts in manufacturing industries. These are related to different aspects like overall performance of firm, management activities being carried out, working culture of the organisation, products and service related tasks and quality of the products. The survey may help to further studies related to core functional competencies. Different types of competencies under core functional competencies can be implemented for the studies.
Presently manufacturing industry in India is facing healthy competition especially with giants in this field. To compete and to perform better in the market most of the companies are adopting core functional competencies. This paper deals with qualitative analysis of data using various multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) techniques. Using questionnaire survey data was collected and different factors had been finalised. From the analysis results, those factors were found which have major and minor affect on the company's performance and competitiveness. Based on their affects and priorities, rankings have been given.
This integrative literature review described design thinking experts' views on how manufacturing small business enterprises (SMEs) can successfully drive design thinking within their firm as an innovation strategy to support business sustainability and competitive advantage. This study was framed by two concepts developed by Bjoerklund et al. within their integrating design across the organisation model: the concept of coevolving design capabilities and the concept of the design-driven organisation. While large and multinational firms well understand the successful adoption of design thinking processes, the same continues to be a challenge for leaders of SMEs, who remain confronted by various challenges constraining their innovation activities. This study's outcome may drive positive social change by providing SME leaders an improved understanding of how to drive design thinking and innovation to remain relevant in an increasingly chaotic environment.
The current dominance of NGO-corporate alliances, underlines how partnerships of this kind hold potential for solving problems related to social issues. Such alliances may be deemed an important target of study on how business-nonprofit (B2N) partnerships can meet the SDGs. The purpose of this integrative literature review was to gain greater understanding of a macrolevel conceptualisation of such alliances in order to provide recommendations for further scholarly research on building collaborative partnerships through leveraging the symbiotic sustainability business model. This study was grounded in the concepts of sustainable business models and NGOs-corporate alliances. Content analysis of the selected B2N partnerships and the symbiotic sustainability model (SSM) reports and peer-reviewed literature was conducted to obtain the most relevant knowledge of how B2N partnerships can be built through leveraging the symbiotic sustainability business model. The results are presented in the form of conceptual reasoning.

Firms have traditionally pursued these goals through the adoption of production practices, such as simultaneous engineering, increasing efficiency through the elimination of defects, setup reduction, etc., and worker empowerment. Recent developments in industry suggest another way of achieving excellence in production, that is, industry regulators and professional bodies must encourage innovation in a broad range of high-tech production facilities with the environment in mind. The success of the industry depends upon production facilities and the competitive advantage that the industry gains because of better quality and reliability. This advantage leads to an increase in sales and the creation of a sound customer base for greater market share, which eventually leads to more profit, growth and expansion. A firm's processes must possess operating advantages in the form of competitive priorities to outperform its competitors. In this research, high-priority risk factors for industry are taken up so as to provide a suitable qualitative model based on them.
Development of Indian manufacturing Industries has an adverse effect on the natural and environmental resources such as global warming is a very popular effect. Green manufacturing focus on minimising the impact of manufacturing processes on the natural environment to sustain our future. Green manufacturing technologies are latest which having negligible impact on the environment and natural resources. The manufacturing industry's strategic success depends on the manufacturing processes used to eliminate or mitigate waste or to increase sales and build a sound consumer base for higher market share to generate more profit, growth and expansion. The present research work has been planned to come up with the levin el of expectations of the industrialists, policy planners and designers by keeping in mind the term green manufacturing, specially, the green manufacturing parameters on which the whole strategic success of the industries depends.
The goal of this research is to create an integrative literature review on how luxury fashion leaders in mature markets can profitably transition from a linear to a circular business model. Two conceptual models are used to frame this research: Donato et al.'s notion of sustainable luxury consumption and Chiaroni and Urbinati's concept of adopting a circular business strategy. The luxury fashion sector, which is expected to be worth 84.04 billion dollars by 2025, has been unable to implement a circular economy business model to increase sustainable luxury consumption in mature markets. The findings of this integrative literature analysis included suggestions for future study on the shift from a linear to a circular economy business model that benefits the environment, employees, and local/regional communities through sustainable business practices.
The fair trade concept offers a means to improve the livelihoods of small producers, respond to social issues, and contribute to environmental health. The purpose of this embedded case study is to examine how the fair trade concept can be transformed into a symbiotic sustainability business model between NGOs and companies. This was approached through an in-depth examination of the fair trade concept as applied by Unilever in building a symbiotic sustainability business model through a collaborative partnership between Lipton and the Rainforest Alliance NGO to launch today's global sustainable tea market. The company's actions in this regard have proven to be positive for the company itself, its suppliers and consumers. The insights derived from this case study can be used to implement changes in managerial practices, revise government policies, agricultural practices, and economic measures, and bring about positive social changes for small producers.
Large retailers will likely play a vital role in the path toward a more sustainable society. The problem is that there is a lack of understanding of how the concept of the circular economy can be developed into a sustainable business model for large retailers. This case study explores these topics, using the example of Swedish retailer IKEA and how it transparently applied the circular economy concept to transition from a linear business model to a sustainable business model. The research method included a review of historical, seminal, and current peer-reviewed scholarly papers on the study topic. IKEA's initiatives to go all-green and to assist its suppliers in decreasing their negative impacts on the environment have had positive results on the retailer's overall operations. This case study can be utilised as a guideline for other large retailers to grasp how they can also influence their partners toward achieving circularity.
The digital and emerging technologies diffusion needed to support the transition from a linear to a circular economy (CE) in sub-Saharan Africa necessitates strategic infrastructure investments and policy coherence, coordination, and collaboration among stakeholders from all sectors and levels of governance. The paper used an integrative literature review to identify possible challenges limiting sub-Saharan Africa's circular economy transition. Our findings highlighted issues such as African nations' lack of technological readiness, lack of access to finance, poor basic infrastructure, low preparedness of human capital, slow decision-making among public leaders, and lack of applicable legislation as the most prevalent issues. The conclusions of this paper may be significant to the theory extension and practical knowledge required to drive positive social change in sub-Saharan Africa by informing African public leaders on the knowledge required to enact policies on technology diffusion needed to support a transition to a circular economy to support their nation's sustainable development.
Clusters have been widely recognised, in both academic and policy-oriented literature, as catalysts and supporters of the transition toward social and environmental sustainability. However, connections between the two topics are still not so precise and remains scattered. This paper aims at identifying and depict a landscape of the scientific literature on clusters and sustainable development, through a systematic literature review based on a keyword cooccurrence analysis. Following rigorous selection and screening processes, a total of 245 significant papers were selected for analysis from Scopus database. Findings reveals an increasing interest toward these topics by the academic community and identifies five key research streams, as well as literature gaps opening the way to further research opportunities. This study offers a comprehensive overview of the main insights on which firms, policy makers and institutional intermediaries need to focus in order to allow a real transition towards a more sustainable, cluster-based economy.
