This article focuses on the role of open urban spaces in the revitalization of historical city centers that have experienced the consequences of civil conflicts and social segregation. The historical center of Damascus, the capital of the Syrian Arab Republic, was chosen as the empirical basis of the study. The aim of the work is to substantiate the need for the formation of a socially sustainable urban environment in the locus under consideration. The results of the study suggest that the creation of a "spatially synthesized grid" of open urban spaces, uniting various typologies of open territories, can serve as an effective tool for the regeneration of cities affected by civil wars. This approach contributes to the reintegration of the population, regardless of religious or political affiliation.
The regional settlement system is developing under the influence of various processes related to the emergence and expansion of urban and rural settlements. The increasing density of spatial connections, diversification of production, and improvement of living conditions lead to the formation of an urbanized landscape that combines both rural and urban forms of planning. Trends in urban zoning create a variety of approaches to universal regulation and control of land development and construction, all of which are equally distant from the essence and problems of urbanized landscape. The outcome of formalized urban planning activities is fragmented (focal) populated areas, which contrast with the balanced and promising development of large urban planning systems. In this regard, the study proposes an approach to describing urbanized landscape, which results in a multidimensional classification of its territories.
The article identifies the distinctive features of architectural and artistic style formation in contemporary urban design, manifested in the organization of urban spaces and their temporary physical components intended for festive and other socially significant events. The foundation of such style formation lies in the method of temporary local artistic (brand-specific) styles, whose origins can be traced back to industrial design of the early 20th century. The study examines the prerequisites for the emergence of temporary local artistic event styles in urban design and the evolution of their manifestations — from temporary systems for city environment decoration (20th century) to the development of independent design actions (21st century). A classification of the forms in which temporary local artistic event styles appear in the design of the modern city is proposed, including visual-graphic, object-spatial, and artistic-decorative types.
The article contains an analysis of factors influencing the choice of vertical unification of volumes as the main technique of a cathedral complex, identifying the relationships between composition, functional content and space-planning solutions of spiritual education centers.
This article examines the challenges of ensuring fast, safe, and comfortable passenger travel in megacities during transport congestion. It analyzes the features and advantages of vehicle interfaces. Interface types are classified into digital displays and touchscreens, voice control, projection displays, and tactile interfaces. Current trends in the implementation of artificial intelligence in urban public transport are identified as integration, accessibility, multimodality, and real-time information. Innovative interfaces for urban transport systems are evolving from simple control panels into unique interactive systems. The main areas of development for transport systems are safety and intellectualization through artificial intelligence and the creation of seamless digital experiences for all transport users.
