This study aims to conduct a legal review of domestic violence (KDRT) cases handled in Jambi City, with a focus on the analysis of the Law on the Protection of Children and Women against Domestic Violence (UU PKDRT). Through a qualitative approach, this study collects data from Problems that often occur in the Community, witnesses and victims of cases in domestic violence cases, as well as an analysis of Problems that occur in the Jambi District Court in the application of the PKDRT Law in handling domestic violence cases. This study is the implementation of the PKDRT Law has not been fully effective, with various obstacles faced in the legal process and enforcement of victims' rights. This study is expected to contribute to understanding the challenges in the community faced in law enforcement against domestic violence and provide recommendations for improving legal policies and judicial practices. The significance of this study lies in efforts to provide better protection for victims of domestic violence and increase public awareness of the importance of law enforcement in the family context. That in the form of domestic violence namely physical violence, psychological violence and sexual violence has been in accordance with the rules referring to Law No. 23 of 2004 where the form of settlement of physical violence, psychological violence and sexual violence must have evidence that there are witnesses who saw there is also a post mortem from the hospital even though it is not the main support. The form of settlement of domestic violence cases by the Law Enforcement at the Jambi District Court always begins with peaceful efforts to the disputing parties even though the divorce law explains that there must be an impact that encourages the desire for divorce from the husband or wife. The attitude shown towards the reporter and the reported always prioritizes the principles of justice, legal certainty and benefit which always begins with efforts to resolve by consensus or peace by the husband and wife, also the peace can be accepted by the court if the husband promises not to do his actions again and if repeated then will be subject to criminal sanctions of fines or imprisonment in accordance with the actions and or losses experienced by the victim

Utilizing local resources is a crucial aspect in supporting sustainable economic development in rural areas. One potential that has not been optimally utilized is agricultural waste, particularly corncobs, which are often discarded or burned after harvest. However, corncobs have economic value when processed and used as animal feed. In Tambak Bayan Village, Percut Sei Tuan District, the practice of utilizing corncobs as animal feed has developed as a community response to limited forage and the high price of commercial feed. This practice is not only related to the technical aspects of animal husbandry, but also reflects economic adaptation strategies, local knowledge, and social relations that are built in rural communities. This study aims to examine the social practice of utilizing corncobs as animal feed and its contribution to the sustainable economy of the Tambak Bayan Village community. In addition, this study also analyzes social factors that influence the sustainability of this practice, such as cooperation patterns, the inheritance of local knowledge, and the survival strategies of farming and livestock households. The research method used is a qualitative approach with a case study method, through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and field documentation. The research stages include preparation, fieldwork implementation, data analysis, report preparation, and dissemination and publication of research results. The targeted outputs in this research include the final research report, publication of a scientific article in the Anthropos Journal: Journal of Social and Cultural Anthropology (SINTA 3), and copyright of the research report. This research is at the initial Technology Readiness Level (TKT), namely at the stage of formulating research questions and reviewing basic principles, with the hope that it can become the basis for developing an agricultural waste management model based on social practices of rural communities in the next
This study aims to describe the process of gift-giving after final exams and analyze the dynamics involved in such gift-giving. Gift-giving after proposal seminars and green-table discussions has become increasingly popular among students, both past and present. The method used was a qualitative ethnographic approach, using in-depth interviews, participant observation, field notes, and documentation. The results reveal three stages in the gift-giving process among students in the Anthropology Education Study Program: giving, receiving, and reciprocating gifts. This practice has profound social significance and serves as a means to strengthen relationships between students. Gifts are not simply an expression of congratulations for achievements but also reflect solidarity and emotional support, fostering a culture of mutual respect within the academic community. However, reciprocity often creates pressure for students to reciprocate, which can increase psychological burdens and create tension in friendships. This gift-giving practice also demonstrates the strong influence of social culture among students. The form of gifts varies depending on the closeness of the relationship and the academic context, creating special moments that strengthen social bonds. Therefore, it is important to maintain sincerity in giving gifts so that they do not become a burden, but remain meaningful in strengthening solidarity among students
The management of fishery resources in Lake Sidenreng faces various challenges in the form of high exploitation pressure, less selective use of fishing gear, and weak integration between formal institutions and community-based management practices. These conditions have the potential to affect the sustainability of fishery resources and the welfare of the fishing community. This study aims to analyze the sustainability status of fishery resource management in Lake Sidenreng and formulate a management model based on local ecological knowledge of the community. The research was carried out in November 2025 – January 2026 using a survey method through in-depth interviews guided using questionnaires and focus group discussions (FGD) with 44 respondents consisting of stakeholders and fishermen. Data analysis was carried out using the Multidimensional Scaling (MDS) method with the RAP-Amen approach, leverage analysis, and Monte Carlo. The results show that the ecological dimension with an index value of 62.5 and the social dimension with an index value of 65.7 are included in the category of quite sustainable, while the economic dimension with an index value of 48.3, technology with an index value of 42.8, and law and institutions with an index value of 45.2 are still classified as less sustainable. Sensitive attributes that affect sustainability the most include net size, fishing season, fisher income, knowledge transfer, strengthening local institutions, and fishing gear selectivity. Local ecological knowledge of fishing communities plays an important role in setting fishing seasons, selective fishing gear selection, and protecting fish habitats, but has not been optimally integrated into formal policies. Therefore, the recommended management model emphasizes on strengthening local ecological knowledge, strengthening the fishermen's economy based on environmentally friendly technology, and strengthening local institutions through a co-management approach. The integration between local knowledge and formal management systems is expected to be able to realize sustainable, adaptive, participatory, and community-based fisheries management in Lake Sidenreng.
The rapid expansion of the gig economy and platform-based work has transformed labor markets by increasing flexibility while simultaneously intensifying labor market uncertainty and employment insecurity, raising concerns about mental well-being and emotional demands. This study aims to map and synthesize the scholarly literature on gig work under labor market uncertainty, with a particular focus on worker well-being and emotional demands in platform-based employment. A bibliometric review design is applied following the PRISMA 2020 framework, using Scopus as the database source. A total of 83 English-language peer-reviewed journal articles published between 2016 and 2025 were identified through a structured Boolean search and analyzed using publication trend analysis and VOSviewer-based thematic mapping. The findings reveal a significant increase in publications after 2020, indicating growing academic attention to gig work, employment insecurity, and worker well-being. The literature is highly interdisciplinary, spanning social sciences, business, economics, psychology, and labor studies, with major contributions from developed economies. Three dominant thematic clusters are identified: algorithmic management and job insecurity, institutional protection and labor flexibility, and mental health, precariousness, and emotional well-being. The results highlight that gig work is increasingly conceptualized as a condition of persistent labor market uncertainty with important behavioral consequences. This study contributes by advancing a behavioral–structural perspective that links platform labor conditions, employment insecurity, worker well-being, and emotional demands, while offering a foundation for interdisciplinary research and policy efforts to strengthen social protection and platform labor regulation.
The aging of the farming population has become a critical challenge to agricultural sustainability in Indonesia, as evidenced by declining participation among younger generations in the agricultural sector. However, this trend is not uniformly observed across rural areas. Wonokitri Village in Pasuruan Regency presents a contrasting case where young farmers' involvement remains relatively strong. Despite extensive studies on farmer regeneration, limited attention has been paid to explaining why certain rural communities successfully sustain youth engagement in agriculture through locally embedded social mechanisms rather than solely economic incentives. This study aims to analyze strategies for farmer rejuvenation in Wonokitri Village by applying Pierre Bourdieu's theoretical framework, particularly the concepts of habitus, capital, and arena. Employing a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through non-participant observation, semi-structured interviews with 20 informants, documentation, and a literature review. The findings reveal that farmer rejuvenation in Wonokitri Village is supported by the internalization of agrarian values within family and community life (habitus), the availability and distribution of economic, social, cultural, and symbolic capital, and a supportive social-ecological arena shaped by local institutions and customary norms. These factors collectively foster positive perceptions of farming among younger generations and ensure sustained access to land, resources, and social recognition. This study concludes that farmer rejuvenation in Wonokitri is driven not merely by economic incentives but by an integrated social structure rooted in local culture and collective practices. The novelty of this study lies in demonstrating how the dynamic interaction between habitus, multiple forms of capital, and the social arena constitutes a localized mechanism for sustaining intergenerational agricultural continuity. The findings extend Bourdieu's theoretical perspective on farmer regeneration while providing practical insights for policymakers and rural development practitioners to design context-sensitive regeneration programs that strengthen local institutions, cultural values, and youth participation in agriculture.
The rapid expansion of digital technologies has transformed social interaction while simultaneously generating ethical challenges, including misinformation, hate speech, social polarization, and identity conflicts. Despite growing scholarly interest in digital ethics and intergroup relations, no comprehensive bibliometric study has systematically mapped the intellectual structure, collaboration patterns, and thematic evolution of this field. This study addresses this gap through a bibliometric analysis of Scopus-indexed publications. Data were retrieved using the keywords “ethics,” “intergroup relations,” and “digital society,” covering 2016–2026 and selected through the PRISMA 2020 framework. From 336 identified records, predefined inclusion and exclusion criteria based on publication type, year, language, and open-access eligibility produced 101 eligible articles. Bibliometric analyses were conducted using VOSviewer and Bibliometrix in RStudio to examine publication trends, collaboration networks, keyword co-occurrence, and thematic evolution. Results indicate a transition from pandemic-focused digital communication studies toward social identity, trust, sustainability, leadership, corporate social responsibility, and ethical digital governance. Developed countries remain dominant in scientific influence, whereas Indonesia demonstrates increasing research productivity and international visibility. The principal contribution of this study is a comprehensive knowledge map identifying emerging research clusters, collaboration networks, and thematic shifts that clarify the intellectual development of ethics and intergroup relations in digital society globally.
Women’s economic participation remains uneven across regions despite sustained progress in gender equality in education and health, signaling persistent structural constraints. This study aims to synthesize the literature on women’s economic participation in rural and urban contexts within the framework of regional economic development, with explicit relevance to Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 5 on gender equality and SDG 8 on decent work and economic growth. The main problem addressed is the lack of integrative perspectives that account for spatial differentiation and structural mechanisms shaping women’s economic engagement. The study applies a Systematic Literature Review combined with bibliometric analysis of Scopus-indexed publications from 2016 to 2025, resulting in a final sample of 181 selected articles. Keyword co-occurrence and bibliometric mapping were used to identify dominant themes and conceptual patterns. The findings show a clear spatial divide: rural-focused studies emphasize household-based livelihoods, informal economic activities, and social norms, while urban-focused studies center on formal labor markets, education, and wage dynamics. The analysis also reveals limited integration between economic, health, and unpaid care work dimensions. Beyond mapping publication patterns and thematic clusters, this review's principal conceptual contribution is the integration of the glass-ceiling and grass-ceiling perspectives into a single spatially differentiated analytical framework, demonstrating that rural and urban women's economic participation are governed by structurally distinct mechanisms rather than a uniform set of barriers, an insight that has not been systematically articulated in prior single-context reviews. In conclusion, women’s economic participation constitutes a structurally embedded and spatially differentiated economic process. Strengthening it requires context-specific and regionally grounded policy interventions, which are essential for advancing the simultaneous achievement of SDG 5 and SDG 8.
The aim of this study is to investigate the potential of fishery resources in Merauke Regency, South Papua Province, to contribute to national food security using a convergent parallel mixed-methods design, integrating quantitative secondary data including production and economic contribution, with qualitative evidence from fishers, traders, and government stakeholders. The analysis reveals that despite the sector had a significant decrease of production after the 2014 fishing moratorium, the sector still has a high surplus of food other than local consumption and is a major contributor to regional GRDP, indicating a strong latent potential for food security. The study further exposes a governance paradox: the harvesting of high-value fish swim bladders leads to the waste of marketable fish meat, a behaviour that is economically rational for individual fishers but detrimental to collective food security and blue economy goals. This paradox is not only a descriptive finding, but a contribution to theory of sustainable fisheries governance. It explicates how misaligned incentives between individual livelihood strategies and collective stewardship of a resource—a classic common-pool resource dilemma—are reproduced and sustained even under existing conservation policy. Moreover, it demonstrates how integrating quantitative and qualitative evidence can reveal governance dynamics invisible to single-method studies. Based on these insights, the study proposes stakeholder-specific interventions, including transparent pricing mechanisms for swim bladders, partnership-based incentives for sustainable practices, technology support for small-scale fishers, and investment models for empowering indigenous communities. The study thus contributes theoretically to blue economy and food security scholarship and practically to food sovereignty in resource-rich but institutionally constrained areas.
This study examines subjective well-being (SWB)—encompassing perceived experiences, personal evaluations of positive and negative emotions, and life satisfaction (both general and domain-specific)—among residents of a densely populated settlement in Cilincing, North Jakarta. The measurement of psychological well-being reflects aspects of mental health related to self-acceptance and perceived social support. The quantitative study involved a sample of 109 individuals, all residing in RT 005/RW 001, Gang Kerang Ijo. The results indicate that the contribution of Perceived Social Support (PSS) to SWB (50.4%) was higher than that of Self-Acceptance (SA) (31.2%). These findings suggest that greater perceived social support and higher levels of self-acceptance are associated with higher life satisfaction—a key indicator of subjective well-being. The finding that self-acceptance plays a more significant role in shaping SWB can serve as a basis for stakeholders to formulate policies aimed at strengthening the factors that foster SWB in urban communities. It is anticipated that if residents of dense, low-income settlements experience higher levels of happiness and life satisfaction, they will be more likely to engage in pro-environmental behaviors and participate enthusiastically in local collective programs.
The increased demoralization among children and adolescents underscores the urgency to strengthen character building from an early age through family, school, and community collaboration. This study synthesizes empirical evidence on key factors influencing moral and character development among children and adolescents and map how these findings are distributed across Bronfenbrenner’s ecological systems, clarifying which levels are well-evidenced and which remain underexplored in the Indonesian context. This systematic literature review followed PRISMA guidelines, searching national and international databases, including Google Scholar, ScienceDirect, Taylor & Francis, and SINTA-indexed journals. From an initial 1.201 articles, screening and eligibility assessment based on relevance, methodological quality, and alignment with review objectives yielded 20 studies for synthesis. Findings reveal an uneven ecological distribution: evidence is concentrated at the microsystem level, where authoritative parenting and school-based learning consistently associate with moral and character outcomes, while peer influence within this layer remains markedly underexamined. Interactions between family and school (mesosystem) and indirect influences such as media exposure (exosystem) are largely absent from the literature, despite their theoretical importance. At the macrosystem level, national policy on character education appears to shape the rising research trend over time (chronosystem), suggesting empirical attention follows policy momentum rather than balanced inquiry. This review concludes that Indonesian research on character development remains ecologically imbalanced, heavily weighted toward micro and macro levels while overlooking interdependencies between systems that Bronfenbrenner’s theory identifies as central to development. Bridging these gaps, especially at the mesosystem and exosystem levels is essential for theory-building and designing coordinated, evidence-based interventions.
Community-based approaches to waste management are increasingly positioned as solutions to the governance and fiscal constraints facing local governments in Indonesia. Yet the conditions under which such approaches genuinely transform service relationships rather than merely extending government reach through unpaid community labor remain underexamined. This study analyzes co-production practices in the Si BESUT waste management program in Kaliwungu Village, Jombang Regency, through the six-principle framework of Slay and Robinson (2011). Using a qualitative case study design, data were collected through in-depth interviews with seven purposively selected informants representing government agencies, landfill management, community coordinators, and environmental cadres, supplemented by observation and documentation review. The findings confirm that all six co-production principles are empirically present in Kaliwungu. However, their realization is uneven and structurally ambivalent. Co-production reaches most deeply those who are already organized, while less-connected residents remain peripheral. The relational architecture remains asymmetric: communities co-deliver services but do not co-design them, and the program's sustainability rests on contingent conditions key individual leadership, unpaid volunteer labor predominantly performed by women, and consistent government facilitation none of which are institutionally guaranteed. The study contributes to the co-production literature by moving beyond affirmative accounts of participation to identify the boundary conditions under which community-based co-production falters: when social capital is thin, when key-person dependency substitutes for institutional capacity, when facilitation is driven by austerity rather than governance principle, and when program benefits are concentrated among the already-engaged. These findings offer theoretically grounded guidance for the design of more resilient, equitable, and institutionally sustained co-production arrangements in local waste governance.
The significance of indigenous knowledge and cultural institutions in tackling today's environmental issues is becoming more widely acknowledged in sustainability study. However, prior research on Balinese Hindu ecological rituals has mostly focused on their symbolic, religious, and conservation roles, offering little insight into the sociocultural processes by which ritual participation concurrently influences household financial behavior and the environment. In order to close this gap, this study looks at how ecological rituals serve as culturally ingrained institutions that integrate financial behavior, environmental behavior, and ecological ethics to promote sustainability. The study was carried out in a few customary villages in Bali's Tabanan Regency between February 2024 and March 2025 using an interpretive ethnographic method. Participant observation, semi-structured interviews with twenty-five key informants, and document analysis were used to gather data. Iterative thematic analysis based on Sacred Ecology, Practice Theory, and Economic Sociology was used for analysis. The results show that rather than being purely ceremonial religious activities, ecological rituals such as Tumpek Wariga, Mapag Toya, Ngusaba Nini, and Tumpek Uye serve as behavioral governing institutions. Ecological ethics are internalized through repeated ritual participation, which promotes ecologically conscious behavior while also influencing household financial practices through long-term financial planning, prudent resource allocation, saving, reciprocal exchange, and community contributions. These interrelated processes promote culturally grounded sustainability and increase community resilience. The study suggests a framework for culturally embedded sustainability, showing how ritual participation, ecological ethics, environmental behavior, and embedded financial behavior interact dynamically to produce sustainability. In order to explain how indigenous ritual institutions concurrently organize ecological governance and household economic practices, this study expands on previous sustainability scholarship beyond environmental conservation by integrating Sacred Ecology, Practice Theory, and Economic Sociology within an ethnographic perspective. It also offers useful insights for policymakers looking to strengthen customary institutions and culturally grounded sustainability strategies.
This study presents the development and evaluation of the Eco-Innovation Toolkit for Sustainable Urban Villages (EcoIT-SUV) as a socio-technical intervention for community-based environmental innovation. The research aims to design a participatory and operational toolkit that enables local residents in Surabaya’s urban villages to manage ecological innovation through collaborative learning and structured planning. Using an action research approach, the study engaged residents and experts in two stages: participatory development through focus group discussions and expert evaluation using quantitative and qualitative feedback. The results show that EcoIT-SUV effectively enhances green dynamic capability, fosters environmental innovation, and integrates local social structures with technological practices. Expert evaluations using the Friedman test indicate consistent material and design quality across indicators, validating its readiness for community application. This study contributes to understanding how socio-technical systems can support urban sustainability through participatory design and localized innovation management.
The Comoro Riverbank area in Dili, Timor-Leste, is highly vulnerable to floods and riverbank landslides. Following the 2021 disaster, the government implemented a relocation program to reduce future disaster risks. This study aims to examine socio-economic conditions before and after relocation, analyze community perceptions of the policy, identify adaptation factors, and formulate responsive policy recommendations. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with 15 informants, field observations, and document reviews. Data validity was tested using source and method triangulation, followed by thematic analysis through processes of coding, categorization, and theme identification. The findings indicate significant socio-economic changes after relocation. Economically, households experienced increased living costs and loss of productive assets and informal livelihoods. Socially, relocation generated both social cohesion and fragmentation of social networks. Although communities recognized the importance of relocation, dissatisfaction emerged due to limited participation in the planning process. Psychological burdens and livelihood disruption were identified as major barriers to adaptation, whereas public facilities, water services, and family support facilitated adaptation. This study contributes to the post-disaster relocation literature by demonstrating that successful relocation depends not only on physical risk reduction but also on social capital, livelihood recovery, community adaptation capacity, and policy responsiveness to affected communities' needs. Furthermore, the study provides empirical evidence from the under-researched context of Timor-Leste. The study recommends strengthening relocation policies, enhancing community participation, supporting livelihood recovery, and providing psychosocial assistance.
