The rapid integration of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies into business processes is fundamentally transforming the traditional role of middle managers, who provide the critical link between strategy and operations in organizational hierarchies. AI-driven automation and decision systems are assuming routine managerial tasks, compelling middle managers into a new role structure that demands higher-order cognitive, analytical, and social competencies. This study aims to analyze the changing responsibilities of middle managers in the age of AI, identify the new skills and behaviors expected from them through a systematic literature review, and explain the resulting competency transformation within a holistic framework. Within the scope of the research, 39 articles published between 2018 and 2025 in the Web of Science database were examined in accordance with the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses protocol. The findings indicate a shift in middle managers’ roles from operational supervision toward data-driven decision-making, human–AI collaboration design, and psychological empowerment. Abstract This study investigates the influence of organizational values, norms, and underlying assumptions on innovative work behaviors among employees working in Technopark enterprises located in the TR83 Region (Samsun, Çorum, and Tokat). Drawing on data collected from 257 participants, the research employs normality tests, reliability analyses using Cronbach’s alpha coefficients, and validity assessments to examine the robustness of the measurement structure. The study aims to identify the extent to which organizational cultural components shape employees’ tendencies to generate, develop, and implement innovative ideas within technology-oriented organizational settings. The study builds on Social Exchange Theory, linking supportive organizational contexts to employees’ innovative work behaviors. In addition, demographic variables such as gender, age, education level, and tenure were included in the analysis, and the significant differences in employees’ perceptions of organizational values, norms, and assumptions as well as their innovative work behaviors across these variables were examined. The findings indicate that organizational culture has a significant and positive effect on innovative work behaviors. Among the cultural dimensions, shared values and underlying assumptions demonstrate the strongest influence on employees’ innovative activities, particularly in the stages of problem identification and implementation. The results suggest that supportive cultural environments play an important role in fostering innovation-oriented behaviors in Technopark enterprises. In the past decades, it has been uncovered that having strong macro-economic and fiscal positions is not enough in having sustained growth rates. The quality of governance, especially the quality of institutions, plays a vital role in explaining the variety of growth rates across countries with similar economic structures. Corruption, which is a key issue in most of the recent studies, is shown as an element that alters growth dynamics and sustainability. Thus, from a sustainable development perspective, this article systematically reviews the literature by focusing on firm and country levels. Two key indicators that are commonly used in the literature are the World Bank’s Enterprise Survey and the Corruption Perception Index. By using these indicators and examining articles that utilize the particular data, this article highlights how corruption influences everything from firm productivity to exports, as well as broader terms such as economic growth and inequality. Particularly, the “grease the wheels” vs. “sand the wheels” debate receives attention in the literature. The main argument in this debate is that, even though corruption may hasten business in the short run, its long-term effects seem strongly harmful. The article also underlines the importance of having high-quality institutions and strong legal enforcement to mitigate the potential harm of corruption. Some important actions to fight corruption include governance reforms, digitalization, and strong corporate accountability. Cite this article as: Öncü, İ. N. (2026). Human 5.0 is an approach that positions the human being as a decision-maker, a creative actor, and an individual with high ethical responsibility in a society where artificial intelligence, big data, robotics, autonomous systems, and digital infrastructure are fully integrated. This approach considers the individual from a perspective that prioritizes social and empathetic qualities, societal benefit, and sensitivity to sustainability principles. In the maritime domain, the concept of Human 5.0 can be defined through new-generation maritime operators and deck officers within the processes of maritime business management and ship operations. In other words, it refers to employee profiles operating across all work domains encompassing ship–port–logistics processes within the maritime industry. In today’s world, individuals are expected to adapt to the rapidly changing dynamics of digital transformation by acting with lifelong learning awareness, acquiring new skills, and keeping themselves up to date particularly in areas such as artificial intelligence literacy, data analytics, digital competencies, and creative problem solving. This study aims to define the “next generation mariner” profile by examining the reflections of the Human 5.0 perspective on the maritime sector through the concepts of Human 5.0. Based on a literature review, the research analyzes how digitalization, automation, and socio-technical transformations reshape professional roles in ship management, port operations, and maritime–logistics processes. The findings indicate that maritime operators and deck officers must possess not only technical maritime knowledge but also hybrid skills such as artificial intelligence literacy, data analytics, digital operation management, human–machine collaboration, and creative problem solving. By systematically addressing the impacts of Human 5.0 in the maritime field, the study fills a significant gap in the literature and provides an original framework regarding the skill sets that will shape the future mariner profile. In this respect, the research serves as a guide contributing both to academic discussions and to the sector’s transformation strategies.
Political and economic conflicts between countries directly affect national economies and financial markets. These effects are not limited to the countries involved in the conflict, but also spread to other countries through trade relations and capital flows. The severity of the effects increases, especially when conflicts occur between dominant countries. In this context, the study aims to determine the effects of the recent conflict between the USA and China on the return and volatility of stock markets and whether these effects have a permanent structure or not. The study also aims to evaluate these effects within the framework of key economic transmission channels such as financial contagion, trade linkages, and portfolio flows. For this purpose, the relationships between the US-China tension index and the stock market returns and volatility of G7 countries and 23 developing countries were analyzed using Pata and Yilanci (2020) Fractional Frequency Flexible Fourier Form Toda & Yamamoto causality test. The most important finding of the study is that the effects of the US-China tension on markets are not homogeneous, but are closely related to the development level, geographical location and economic fragility of the countries. This heterogeneous structure is believed to stem from the fact that these economic transmission channels operate with different intensities and mechanisms between countries. Another important finding of the study is that US-China tension is more related with risk in developed markets, and with pricing and risk perception simultaneously in emerging markets. Moreover, the persistency of the effects in all markets where causal relationships exist indicates that the US-China tension is a source of structural uncertainty in the global financial system. The study contributes significantly to the literature by revealing the persistent effects of US-China tensions on financial markets and provides empirical evidence that investors and policymakers should consider in risk management. The accelerating pace of disruption, driven by technological innovation, shifting consumer preferences, geopolitical uncertainty, and global crises, is challenging the resilience of traditional business models. This study examines strategic agility as a critical organizational capability that enables firms to anticipate change, respond effectively, and reconfigure resources to sustain competitiveness. Using a conceptual and integrative approach, the article draws on contemporary theories of strategy, innovation, and organizational learning to conceptualize strategic agility as a multidimensional construct. The analysis synthesizes peer-reviewed research and conceptually grounded practice-based illustrations from volatile contexts, with particular attention to Middle Eastern and other developing economy settings. Insights presented in this study were derived by synthesizing recent academic contributions and drawing from the practical experiences of firms operating in dynamic environments. The research strategy involved a comprehensive literature review combined with illustrative examples from case studies in these regions. The findings suggest that strategic agility, through sensing environmental changes, seizing emerging opportunities, and transforming business models, supports both short-term adaptability and long-term organizational resilience. Firms that leverage digital transformation, ecosystem partnerships, and adaptive leadership practices are better positioned to withstand disruption and pursue sustainable growth. The article contributes to the literature by proposing an integrative framework that links agility routines to business model transformation and highlights contextual moderators relevant to emerging markets. As a conceptual analysis, the framework provides a foundation for future empirical testing; subsequent research should examine sector-specific applications of strategic agility and assess its effects on organizational performance across diverse regional contexts. In an era marked by volatility, complexity, and rapid technological change, organizations increasingly rely on established methodologies such as the Toyota Production System, Agile Supply Chain Management, and Design Thinking to navigate uncertainty and enhance performance. However, these approaches are frequently implemented in isolation, leading to fragmented outcomes and unrealized synergies. This study examines how Systems Thinking can function as a structural enabler for integrating these methodologies within a cohesive framework. Based on qualitative evidence from semi-structured interviews with 60 industry experts, the study clarifies the distinct contributions and limitations of Toyota Production System, Agile Supply Chain Management, and Design Thinking and explains how Systems Thinking can reconcile their differing logics through interdependency modeling, strategic alignment, and feedback-oriented coordination. The proposed integration model advances the methodological integration literature and offers guidance for organizations seeking to improve adaptability, innovation, and sustainable performance in dynamic environments. Cite this article as: Demir, M., & Ayas, S. This study was conducted to determine the relationships between financial assets and the differences between these relationships in the pre- and post-COVID-19 periods. The study aims to reveal whether the movements of financial assets have changed during the pandemic. In the study, date ranges were determined separately for the period before and after COVID-19. The dates March 09, 2016–March 09, 2020 were determined as the pre-COVID-19 period, and the dates March 09, 2020–March 09, 2024 were determined as the post-COVID-19 period. The study obtained daily logarithmic returns of BIST 100, euro, and gold assets, and applied Correlation Analysis and Granger Causality Test. As a result of the study, the correlation levels of the variables and causality relationships are reported in the pre- and post-COVID-19 periods. When the findings obtained were evaluated, as a result of the correlation analysis, it was determined that the correlation levels decreased in the post-Covid period. In terms of causality relations, it was observed that the relationship levels increased in the post-COVID-19 period. In addition, it is another result that there are differentiations in the relevant periods. When the findings are evaluated together, determining the causality relationship between the substitution power of assets and returns is important for portfolio construction, asset investment, and risk-taking levels. The study is intended to guide individual investors, decision-makers, and the industry. Cite this article as: Medetoğlu, B., & Saldanlı, A. (2025). Unplanned expenditures that states have to make regarding natural disasters and defense naturally disrupt the budget balance and create the need for additional financing. This situation necessitates new regulations to finance increasing public expenditures. The basic principles of the rule of law must be taken into account in the regulations made to meet the increasing public financing need. Regulations made without taking into account basic constitutional principles such as the principle of legal security, the principle of legality, and the prohibition of retroactivity will meet the financing need in the short term, while damaging the trust in the legal system. This situation damages citizens’ confidence in the legal system in the medium and long term, increases the risk of domestic and foreign investors, and negatively affects the general economic structure. The main reason for the existence of high courts is to prevent arbitrary practices of the administration that may be contrary to the basic principles of law and to ensure the establishment of a healthy legal system in the country. Although practices such as additional motor vehicle tax partially work to meet the financing need in the short term, they negatively affect the trust in the legal system and the general economic structure.
The Vehicle Routing problem is an optimisation problem concerned with how to optimally distribute vehicles from a central depot to serve geographically distributed customers. In this study, the effectiveness of Deterministic Methods Used in Route Planning Problems in the context of Vehicle Routing Problem is investigated. The Vehicle Routing Problem is one of the most fundamental optimisation problems in logistics management and transportation, which aims to determine the optimal routes of vehicles serving geographically distributed customers from a given central warehouse. The aim of this study is to review the literature in this area using bibliometric analysis to evaluate the effectiveness of deterministic methods for solving Vehicle Routing problems and to identify current trends and future research directions. Bibliometric analysis clearly reveals gaps in the literature and future research opportunities as a method that provides a comprehensive review of the literature, identifying current research trends as well as potential future research directions. The results of the analysis show that deterministic methods are a powerful tool for finding optimal solutions in complex decision-making processes and that research in this field is gaining momentum. Furthermore, investigating the effectiveness of these methods in different application domains and comparing them with other optimisation techniques appear to be key areas for future research. The comprehensive information presented in this paper will help researchers and practitioners to understand Vehicle Routing problems and find effective ways to solve them.
The development and widespread use of information technology have led to profound changes in many areas of life. While societies have benefited greatly from this transformation, businesses, managers, and entrepreneurs have also gained advantages. In this context, the aim of this study is to examine the relationship between entrepreneurship and information technology (IT) in Türkiye for the period between 2016 and 2022 using a hybrid Multi-Criteria Decision-Making (MCDM) method. The study employs SD, PSI, MEREC, and COBRA methods. Results are compared with findings from other MCDM methods that confirm the reliability and stability of the proposed approach, and sensitivity analyses are conducted under scenarios where the criterion weights differ. The criterion weighting revealed that the most important criterion is “Enterprises with a Website,” while the least important criterion is “Enterprises with Internet Access.” According to the COBRA method, 2022 was identified as the best-performing year for entrepreneurs’ IT usage, while 2017 had the lowest performance. The study suggests that entrepreneurs’ IT usage performance has changed over the years. Therefore, the intensive use of new technologies will facilitate the emergence of new business processes and business models, which will both increase the number of people using information and communication technologies in current employment and play an important role in job creation.
Tax amnesties are implemented for a variety of reasons, including political, economic, and financial motivations. Academic literature encompasses research on the effects of tax amnesty programs on tax revenues, compliance, and justice. Behavioral economics has become increasingly important in the fields of public finance as well as other fields. Behavioral economics offers invaluable insights for policymakers, providing a deep understanding of individual behavior. This knowledge significantly aids in the effective management of policy processes, enabling the development and implementation of more targeted and impactful policies. The comprehension of human behavior concerning public finance will lead to the for- mulation of appropriate policies. The study examines how taxpayers interact with tax amnesty programs using a behavioral economics framework. This study aims to assess the impact of behavioral nudging and deterrence factors on taxpayers’ decisions to participate in tax amnesty programs. This study seeks to examine the impact of variables such as “punishment,” “audit,” “morality,” “justice,” and “social norms and the importance of public services.” The research was carried out using a personal interview survey of 473 individuals who pay income taxes in Türkiye. The participants were categorized into three groups: two groups for treatment and one group for control. The data collected from the fictitious survey were examined using logistic regression analysis. The examination focused on analyzing variables in the study, documenting taxpayers’ ideas and attitudes regarding their involve- ment in tax amnesties, and exploring the demographic characteristics of taxpayers and their point of view on tax amnesties. The study sought to ascertain the ele- ments that impact taxpayers’ engagement in tax amnesty. The results indicated that the variables “Perception of Audit,” “Perception of Justice,” and “Perception of Social and Public Norms” had a substantial impact on individuals’ willingness to participate in tax amnesty. The frequent implementation of tax amnesty poses challenges for taxpayers in meeting their tax obligations. It is essential to identify the influential elements that contribute to participation in tax amnesty in order to successfully implement comprehensive and efficient tax amnesty policies. Additionally, it is crucial to take taxpayer behaviors into account while formulating tax amnesty policies to improve tax compliance among taxpayers.
The aim of the study is to examine the awareness levels of individuals working in the health sector regarding information security and their attitudes toward the confidentiality of electronic health records. The research was conducted with 359 participants from all individuals working in the health sector in Istanbul who participated in the study voluntarily. Data were collected via an online survey. The distribution of sociodemographic and workplace data of individuals is shown in frequency tables. Independent two-sample t-tests, one-way analysis of variance, Mann–Whitney U-test, and Kruskal-Wallis tests were used to examine the differences between groups. The SPSS version 25 program was used in the analysis. Most healthcare workers were women (64.6%), between the ages of 26–35 (44%), and had undergraduate education (46.5%). It has been observed that employees’ attitudes toward the confidentiality of electronic health records are inadequate. Information security awareness level is generally at a medium level (3.62 ± 0.93 and 3.20 ± 1.03). Awareness levels vary between groups depending on the unit they work in, their education level, and title. Moreover, the awareness levels of employees who receive information security training are significantly higher than those who do not receive information security training. To conclude, healthcare professionals need training in information security.
The basic of governance approach that is used after the 1990s as a new public administration model is public participation in public policies and government. Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development and the United Nations defined the term governance, which was first introduced by World Bank, with their own approaches and identified different principles. The European Union has created the European Governance model in order to overcome the administrative problems experienced within the Union and to establish a more effective administration approach within the European Union. The main criticism of the governance model is the equal participation right. This article analyses the governance approach of the European Union and the way the European Union provides participation during its legislation processes by examining the European Governance White Paper and Communication, which forms the basis of European Governance, and three other different legislation. This article examines the democratic legitimation of European Governance in the light of numerical data.
