In this book, designed for both students and practising managers, the authors set out the principles with which the skilful manager can approach his difficulties. Examples from business and industry, both private and public, as well as from government are used to illustrate the complexity of the problems which can be solved by intelligent decision analysis, ranging from manufacturer's concern over the best way of producing a new product to the more complicated matter of choosing the most effective modes of publicity in launching a new product.

Operational Research is viewed as an aid to decision making and it is believed that at present an increasing part of the decision maker's task is being shut off from the operational researcher because of the latter's inability to make a useful contribution. Particular problems are those in which the decision maker has to use his subjective judgement, intuition and foresight to enable him to make choices between alternatives. There has been a great deal of work over the last ten years in the field of technological forecasting in which attempts are made to qualify, quantify and aggregate such subjective judgements, for example, Delphi and Cross Impact Analysis.

Ad-hoc network is an infrastructure less network. In Ad-hoc networks nodes are free to move from and to the network. Therefore the network leads to zero configuration. A protocol is needed to design and implement ad-hoc network. Resource advertisement (RA) is important task in every network. For fast discovery of resource in a network, their management, minimum energy consumption and their distribution information are essential parameters. In this paper, to avoid drowning of packet we use Cluster Based Routing Protocol (CBRP). This method does not put an extra overhead to the network.
The classical no-shortage inventory policy is examined for the case of a linear trend in demand. Using methods of calculus a computationally simple procedure for determining the optimal times for replenishment of inventory is established. Table extracts for the functions required are included.
For many years the L.P. transportation technique has been proved to be an effective means of tackling production planning in the food industry. As the plan approaches implementation however, the objectives can change from ones of cost minimisation to those of utilising existing company resources. This paper describes the modifications which are required to the formulation in order to satisfy these new objectives, and is based on a study of production scheduling undertaken for a large food manufacturer.
