
Introduction: Physical activity (PA) is inherent to human beings and its benefits are widely recognized. As such, intervention delivered by health care professionals are a way of targeting this behavior. Advising the population for healthier behaviors can be a strategic tool in Primary Health Care (PHC) scenarios due to its population coverage power, but there are still few studies that invest in the qualification of multidisciplinary work. Aim: Thus, the objective was to summarize the methodological characteristics of educational interventions on the PA content offered to health professionals working in PHC in Latin America and to describe the degree of compliance reported by studies on their internal and external validity. Methods: A scoping review was carried out on the training of health professionals who would preferentially address the PA content and who had insertion in the PHC in Latin America. Searches were performed in eight electronic databases (Lilacs, PubMed, Physical Education Index, Scielo, Scopus, Web of Science, Embase and SPORTDiscus) until March 2021. Results: The search results returned seven original studies with distinct methodological characteristics, but all focused on training professionals for PA counseling, with five interventions with PA guidance for people with chronic diseases. The description of the articles suggested low internal and external validity by the RE-AIM model. The PRECIS tool indicated that interventions are on a more pragmatic path. Conclusion: It is concluded that there is a need for new training in different Latin American countries from the perspective of health promotion, as the practice of PA can be encouraged for everyone.
Introduction: Although female participation in the Olympic Games has increased over time, this is not always the reality of Brazil. Specifically, with respect to swimming, even though the number of practitioners and competitors has increased over time, it is still possible to verify paradigms related to the presence of females in this sport. Aim: Based on this question, this study aimed to analyze the intervention of sports funding policies in the female permanence in Brazilian swimming. Methods: To perform the analysis, a sample of 324 participants (181 male participants and 143 female participants), including athletes and former athletes of swimming in Brazil, were selected randomly through the completion of an online questionnaire. When the interventions of sports funding policies for females in swimming are analyzed, the existence of financial subsidies contributes to continuity in the modality, increasing the age and category of abandonment of the athletes. However, compared with the male universe, this influence occurs less intensely, considering that in the case of the male gender, the financial resource manifested itself more decisively. Conclusion: This finding may indicate that it is not the absence of financial resources that make women not continue in sport but rather the existence of other sociocultural factors linked to difficulties related to the female gender, a consequence of the entire historical process related to female sports practice in Brazil.
Aim: The demand from assignments and to pass lectures causes stress in university students. The stress that arises exposes students to academic stress conditions. The physical activity carried out by students has varying levels from low, moderate, to high. Physical activity has various health and psychological benefits. This study aimed to determine differences in academic stress in terms of level of physical activity carried out by university students. Methods: A total of 389 university students were involved in this study. The age range of 17–24 years. Data were obtained from the Global Physical Activity Questionnaire (GPAQ) and reported the number of days and duration of activities they spent studying or working, traveling, and recreational activities. All responses as to the duration were converted from hours into METs. Data on academic stress was obtained from the Perception of Academic Stress Scale. Statistical analysis using analysis of variance was performed using JASP for window version 14. Result: An assessment of physical activity shows that most participants had a low level of physical activity, namely 49.36%, 17.48 % had moderate, and 33.16 had a high level. According to the analysis of variance, results show that the F value is 8.251 with an ap value of 0.001. Conclusion: The study revealed a significant difference in academic stress among university students based on level physical activities. This research suggests the importance of promoting physical activities among students to manage stress and encourages further research to explore the underlying mechanisms and longitudinal dynamics.
O IV Simpósio Internacional de Motivação e Desenvolvimento Humano Aplicados à Atividade Física (SIMDH’2026) tem como eixo central um desafio fundamental no campo do movimento humano: compreender os processos que sustentam a adoção e, sobretudo, a manutenção de comportamentos relacionados à atividade física, ao exercício e ao esporte ao longo do tempo. Realizado na Universidade São Judas Tadeu, no campus Mooca, em São Paulo, o evento consolida-se como um espaço de articulação científica no campo da motivação e do comportamento humano. Apesar do avanço consistente do conhecimento científico acerca dos benefícios dessas práticas para a saúde, o bem-estar e o desenvolvimento humano, permanece uma lacuna significativa entre intenção e comportamento. Esse descompasso evidencia a necessidade de aprofundar a compreensão dos determinantes motivacionais que influenciam não apenas o início, mas principalmente a sustentação do comportamento ativo. Nesse contexto, a motivação é compreendida como um fenômeno multifatorial, resultante da interação entre fatores individuais, sociais e contextuais. Sua investigação demanda a integração de diferentes perspectivas teóricas e metodológicas, capazes de explicar os processos de iniciação, regulação e manutenção do comportamento em diferentes fases da vida e contextos de prática. O simpósio surge, portanto, como um espaço de articulação entre pesquisadores, profissionais e estudantes interessados na compreensão desses processos, promovendo o diálogo entre diferentes abordagens científicas e suas implicações para a prática profissional. O SIMDH’2026 reuniu 381 participantes ao longo de três dias de programação, reunindo pesquisadores, professores, estudantes e profissionais de boa parte dos estados brasileiros, de diferentes regiões do país e do exterior. Foram aprovados 80 trabalhos científicos, evidenciando a diversidade temática e a vitalidade da produção na área. A participação de pesquisadores vinculados a instituições nacionais e internacionais — incluindo universidades do Canadá, Portugal e Uruguai — contribuiu para qualificar o diálogo científico e ampliar a inserção internacional do evento. Nesta edição, destaca-se a realização do Encontro de Líderes de Grupos de Pesquisa em Psicologia do Esporte e do Exercício, que reuniu grupos de diferentes universidades brasileiras, fortalecendo a articulação entre linhas de investigação e evidenciando a importância da construção de redes para o avanço científico da área. A realização do evento contou com o apoio de instituições fundamentais para o desenvolvimento da ciência no Brasil, como a Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior (CAPES), a Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado de São Paulo (FAPESP) e a Associação Brasileira de Estudos e Pesquisas em Psicologia do Esporte e do Exercício (ABEPEEx), cuja atuação tem sido central na consolidação do campo. Em um contexto marcado pelo aumento do sedentarismo e pela prevalência de doenças crônicas, a compreensão dos processos motivacionais associados ao comportamento ativo assume relevância que ultrapassa o campo acadêmico, configurando-se também como uma questão social, educacional e de saúde pública. Aim: The objective of this study was to quantify the weekly training volume of competitive female physique athletes, identify potential differences between competitive categories Wellness (WL) and Women's Physique (WP) across various muscle groups, and compare the findings with current literature recommendations. Methods: A total of 9 athletes from various federations were assessed through structured questionnaires containing detailed information about their training practices. Results: WP showed volume increases (sets=st) from off-season to pre-contest for quadriceps (17 → 30 st; +76.47%), hamstrings (11 → 24 st; +118.18%), glutes (11 → 18 st; +63.64%), triceps surae (9.5 → 14 st; +47.37%), chest (2 → 4 st; +100%), latissimus dorsi (17 → 30 st; +76.47%), shoulders (20 → 36 st; +80%), biceps (11 → 18 st; +47.37%), triceps (11 → 18 st; +47.37%), abdominals (2 → 8 st; +300%), and paravertebrals (2 → 4 st; +100%). WL athletes maintained stable volumes, particularly for: quadriceps (28 → 28 st) and glutes (24 → 24 st), with small changes across other muscle groups. WP markedly increased total weekly training volume during pre-contest, while WL showed a more stable profile. These differences highlight distinct periodization models aligned with aesthetic and functional requirements of each competitive category. Conclusion: These findings align with current literature regarding training periodization in physique sports. Nonetheless, further research is warranted to elucidate the specific training approaches employed by athletes in different categories, thereby enabling more precise and evidence-based recommendations.
Objective: To analyze the influence of school Physical Education (PE) classes on the development of children enrolled in Early Childhood Education (ECE). Method: Sixty children aged 4-5 years enrolled in four ECE institutions in Fortaleza, Ceará, participated in this observational and cross-sectional study. The children were divided into two groups: PE Group (30 children who receive PE classes with a PE teacher); and Control Group (30 children who do not have such classes). The Movement Assessment Battery for Children 2 (MABC-2) and the Ages & Stages Questionnaires (ASQ-3) were used to assess child development. The performance of the groups was compared using the Student's T-test, and the relative frequency of children with motor difficulties or at risk of motor difficulties according to the MABC-2, and those who Require Referral for Evaluation (NE) or Need Additional Activities (AA) according to the ASQ-3 were presented. Results: The PE Group demonstrated superior performance compared to the Control Group in the components of Throwing and Catching, Balance, and the total score of the MABC-2. More children in the Control Group exhibited motor difficulties and were at risk of motor difficulties than in the PE Group. Also, the PE Group performed better than the Control Group in the dimensions of Gross Motor Coordination, Fine Motor Coordination, and Personal/Social skills. More children in the PE Group exhibited AA or NE in Communication, Fine Motor Coordination, and Problem-Solving than in the Control Group. Conclusion: The results suggest that PE classes influence the development of children in ECE.
Objectives: A ‘dual career’ represents the process of combining sports training with educational or vocational development. Dual career competencies refer to the skills that enable athletes to effectively balance academic education and sports careers. To date, there is no evidence regarding the dual career competencies of Brazilian student-athletes with disabilities. Thus, the current study aimed to compare the dual career competencies of this population according to their level of competition. Methods: Fifty-eight Brazilian student-athletes with disabilities (Mean = 26.2 ± 11.3 years; 67.2% male), all scholarship holders of the Geração Olímpica e Paralímpica program in the state of Paraná, participated in the study. The athletes represented various sports modalities and were categorized by competition level (School, State, National, and International). The instrument used was the Brazilian version of the Dual Career Competency Questionnaire for Athletes, which assesses attitudes across four dimensions: Dual Career Management (DCM), Career Planning (CP), Emotional Awareness (EA), and Social Intelligence and Adaptability (SIA). Results: Significant differences were found among competition levels in the EA [F(3) = 3.294, p < 0.05; η² = 0.155] and SIA [F(3) = 3.404, p < 0.05; η² = 0.159] dimensions. Notably, Brazilian athletes at the school level showed lower scores than those at the national level in EA (ΔM = -0.55; SE = 0.18; p < 0.05), with a marginally significant difference in SIA (ΔM = -0.45; SE = 0.18; p = 0.061). Conclusion: Brazilian student-athletes with disabilities competing at lower levels present lower competencies related to mental health and socialization. These findings emphasize the need for targeted support and further research on mental and social well-being within this population.
O SAFE-PED foi criado sob a perspectiva de que unindo esforços de maneira organizada e cooperando em diferentes níveis, a área de investigação em “exercício em pediatria” poderá avançar substancialmente. Assim, desde sua primeira edição (2024), o SAFE-PED foca na qualificação de alunos e pesquisadores (por meio de conferências e mesas redondas com pesquisadores referências nacionais e internacionais), bem como no avanço da discussão de assuntos relevantes a área de investigação (idealizou a criação da Força Tarefa Brasileira de Investigação em Atividade Física em Pediatria em 2024 e hospeda reuniões bianuais desse grupo que já agrega mais de 60 pesquisadores de 18 estados brasileiros). Em sua primeira edição (I Simpósio de Atividade Física e Exercício em Populações Pediátricas – GEPAFE), o SAFE-PED adotou como tema a importância da criação de redes nacionais de investigação em exercício em pediatria. Para a segunda edição do evento, o tema escolhido foi o impacto da atividade física de crianças e adolescentes sobre a dinâmica de funcionamento do Sistema Único de Saúde (SUS), especialmente a atenção primária. Os desafios inerentes ao funcionamento de um sistema de saúde amplo e complexo como o SUS são tão grandes como ele. Assim, explorar o papel da atividade física na prevenção de doenças durante as primeiras décadas de vida e como isso pode impactar economicamente e socialmente o SUS é de grande relevância. Portanto, a programação final explora tópicos atuais da literatura em exercício pediátrico, ao passo que busca refletir se os seus potenciais impactos no SUS foram efetivamente investigados. Objective: Construction of an instrument for assessing children's engagement in School Physical Education (SPE) classes and the testing of the content validity of this instrument. Method: An evaluative instrument, using direct observation, was constructed in the following stages: construction of the first version of the instrument, a pilot study, relevance analysis, and instrument restructuring. Content validation was performed by five expert judges who assessed each item according to three criteria - Language Clarity (LC), Practical Pertinence (PP), and Theoretical Relevance (TR) - using a Likert scale. The Content Validity Coefficient (CVC) was calculated across five analytical steps, generating item-level (CVCᵢ), final (CVCf), and total (CVCt). CVCt > 0.80 were considered acceptable. The judges' critical comments were qualitatively analyzed and used to refine the final version of the instrument, which then underwent a new round of content evaluation by the same judges. Results: The pilot study was applied, evaluating 15 students of both sexes, from two private schools in Fortaleza/ CE. Ten students achieved adequate active participation, while 5 students had an average score between 2.2 and 2.4, being susceptible to improvements. The criterion LC generated the most divergence of opinion among the judges, in the behavioral dimension. Based on the judges' opinions, improvements were made to the instrument, and a new round of content evaluation showed that all criteria achieved acceptable CVCt values. Conclusion: The newly developed instrument shows satisfactory content validity and offers a reliable way for health and education professionals to assess children's engagement in SPE classes across different social contexts.
Aim: Although several tests have been used for monitoring neuromuscular function, their sensitivity to fatigue in athletes of team-based sports remains inconclusive. This study investigated the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of countermovement jump (CMJ), squat jump (SJ), sprint performance of 10 and 30 m (Sp-10 m; and Sp-30 m, respectively), and mechanical properties of sprints obtained through the MySprint app. Methods: Thirteen national rugby sevens players performed eight CMJ and SJ, and four sprint trials for baseline assessment, repeating all tests at 24-, 48-, and 72-h after a sport-specific fatigue protocol. Data analysis was performed using a linear multilevel modelling procedure through established Bayesian methods. Acceptable sensitivity was assumed for measures with SNR equal to or below -1. Results: The highest mean estimates of SNR at all moments were found in rate of force in 10 m (RF-10 m) (posterior mode: -2.15 to -2.33), followed by CMJ, SJ, Sp-30 m, maximal power output (Pmax), peak of rate of force (RFpeak), and theoretical and measured maximal horizontal velocity (V0, and Vmax), which showed similar mean values of SNR at 24-, 48-, and 72-h after exercise (posterior mode: -1.29 to -1.80). Conclusions: These results suggest that measures more specific to the task performed during the fatigue protocol showed higher sensitivity. Therefore, tests considering physiological and biomechanical determinants of rugby gestures should be used for fatigue monitoring.
Objectives: To compare wrist muscle strength, grip strength and electrical activity of the flexor digitorum superficialis (FDS), flexor carpi ulnaris (FCU) and extensor carpi ulnaris muscles between cheerleaders with and without wrist pain as well as investigate pain and compromised performance regarding the sport and activities of daily living (ADLs). Methods: This is cross-sectional study evaluated wrist and hand muscle capacity using an isokinetic dynamometer and handgrip dynamometer. Electrical muscle activity was captured during the strength evaluations. Pain at rest, post-training pain and impaired physical function during the sport and ADLs were evaluated using a scale and questionnaire. Results: Twenty-two cheerleaders participated in the study (11 with pain - symptomatic group [SG] and 11 without pain - control group [CG]). Statistically significant and clinically relevant differences between groups were found regarding total work during wrist extension in the concentric mode activity (CG: 13.5 ± 21.2 vs SG 6.6 ± 2.3; p = 0.05), activation of the FDS (CG: 57.0 ± 30.9 vs SG 31.8 ± 10.8; p = 0.03) and FCU (CG: 48.0 ± 18.5 vs SG 30.7 ± 16.8; p = 0.03) muscles during isokinetic evaluation of concentric peak torque of wrist flexion, activation of the FDS (CG: 121.5 ± 55.3 vs SG 65.3 ± 19.7; p = 0.005) and FCU (CG: 94.0 ± 35.9 vs SG 63.0 ± 32.4; p = 0.046) muscles during isokinetic evaluation of concentric total work of wrist flexion, pain intensity at rest (CG: 0 [0] vs SG 0.5 [2.0];p = 0.006) and after training (CG: 0 [0] vs SG 6.3 [2.5];p < 0.001) and degree of impairment regarding sport (CG: 8.2 ± 6.4 vs SG 16.3 ± 8.5; p = 0.02) and ADLs (CG: 14.8 ± 1.8 vs SG 46.0 ± 16.8; p < 0.001). Cheerleaders with wrist pain exhibited greater impairments. Conclusion: Cheerleaders with wrist pain exhibit compromised muscle function of the wrist and hand as well as upper limb impairment during the practice of the sport and the performance of activities of daily living.
Objective: To assess and compare the effect of a training protocol with exergames and conventional proprioceptive exercise on muscle strength and functional performance of elderly women. Methods: This was a randomized controlled clinical trial. The final sample of the present study consisted of 45 women with aged ≥ 60 years and allocated into three groups: conventional proprioceptive training (n = 15), exergame (n = 15), and control (n = 15). Over 8 weeks, participants underwent 24 intervention sessions, three times a week. The conventional training group performed exercises involving walking and postural balance, organized in a circuit with seven stations. The exergame group performed exercises using the Xbox Kinect One. videogame, simulating five sports activities: jet ski racing, climbing, soccer, bowling, and tennis. The variables assessed were functional mobility through the Time Up and Go Test (TUGT), Five Times Sit to Stand Test (FTSST), and muscle strength through the Handgrip Strength Test (HGS). Results: A temporal analysis showed a significant large effect reduction in the time taken to perform the FTSST in both exercise protocols, with conventional training reducing by 1.47 s and exergame by 1.22 s. In the walking test performance, assessed by TUGT, an interaction with a large effect was observed between the control and conventional training groups, with worsened performance in the control group and improved performance in the conventional training group. Conclusion: No differences were found between the conventional training and exergame groups, indicating that both interventions can be used as strategies to improve functional performance in elderly women.
Background: One of the main problems faced by older adults for a good quality of life are falls, which are related to aging and reductions in visual acuity, strength and postural control capacity. Objectives: To investigate postural control of strength exercise practitioners and non exercise practitioners in a postural control task with visual disturbance, in order to verify the collaboration of different sensory systems. Methods: Sixteen older women participated in this study (strength exercise: GM = 7; non exercise practiotioners: GNP=9). For the evaluation of postural control, a force plate and an optoelectronic capture system were used, both at 120 Hz. The task performed by the participants consisted to observe three different images related with the participation of the visual system and stay as stable as possible. The data of amplitude, mean velocity, area, DOT, mid-lateral intensity and anteroposterior intensity were processed in three wavebands. Is study was approved by the Ethics Committee on Re-search Involving Humans (CAAE 53867816.5.0000.5231). Results: The results indicated significant differences in mid-lateral intensity variable percentages in the different conditions when compared GM to GNP. For the amplitude of knee and ankle relative angle and the standard deviation in the sagittal plane, there were no significant differences between groups. Conclusion: Thus, it is concluded that strength exercise practice seems to allow older women to be more susceptible to changes in postural control variables among different wavebands related to sensory systems.
Abstract - Aim: The pandemic scenario and social isolation that it incurred has changed the population behavior in various segments. As an example, dancers have sought to perform and adapt to a virtual environment, butwith possible physical and mental health consequences. The objective of this study was to analyze the impact ofthe COVID-19 pandemic on the variables, time and frequency of practice, in association with physical andmental health status, in dancers from Brazil. Methods: Ninety-one dancers participated in the study and weredivided into two groups, according to their age group. Participants were evaluated using a semi-structured, selfreported questionnaire, administered in an online format. Results: There was a decrease in the time (p < 0.05)and frequency (p < 0.001) of participation in dance classes during the period, even though participants reportedgood virtual accessibility for class participation. Impacts on the physical and mental health of dancers were alsoobserved, when compared to the period before the pandemic (p < 0.001). Conclusion: As such, it is concludedthat the pandemic negatively influenced the physical and mental health of dancers and reduced the time andfrequency of practice among them. Other studies are needed to further our understanding of the factors involvedin this relationship between social isolation and the decrease in dance practice in dancers.
Objectives: To investigate the acute effects of different doses of capsiate on heart rate variability (HRV) and stress-related autonomic indices in overweight/obese and normal weight young adult men. Methods: Nineteen men (25.6 ± 4.6 years; 98.7 ± 26.0 kg) were classified as overweight/obese (OW/OB, n = 12; BMI > 25 kg/m2) or normal weight (NW, n = 7; BMI < 24.9 kg/m2), completed five non-consecutive laboratory visits, receiving placebo or capsiate at 12, 24, or 36 mg in capsules. Resting HRV was recorded for 30 min in the supine position and analyzed in the time domain (SDNN, RMSSD, TINN) and through stress-related indices (stress index, SNS and PNS indices). Results: As expected, the OW/OB group presented higher body weight, BMI, waist circumference, body fat percentage, and android and gynoid fat, and lower VO2peak compared with the NW group (p < 0.05). No significant main effects of dose or group × dose interactions were found for HRV or stress-related indices. A non-significant trend toward higher SNS index at 36 mg in OW/OB compared with NW was observed (p = 0.083; Hedges's g = 0.93). Conclusion: Acute capsiate supplementation at doses of 12, 24, and 36 mg did not promote significant changes in resting HRV or stress-related autonomic indices in overweight/obese or normal weight young men, although a trend toward increased sympathetic activity was observed at 36 mg in OW/OB. Larger trials and higher or chronic doses are warranted to clarify the autonomic impact of capsiate across different body composition profiles.
This study aimed to assess the predictive value of well-known risk factors for falling in older adults by prospectively evaluating the occurrence of fall episodes on those who joined a group-oriented exercising routine compared to older people without the exercise routine. The balance parameters of 75 older adults was assessed using a force platform along with the history of previous falls, and the presence of diabetes. A subsample (n = 58) performed a group exercising routine 2 to 3 times per week for 1 year. They were followed-up concerning the occurrence of falls episodes. The binary logistic regression analysis retrieved a model including the presence of diabetes (OR = 8.78), previous history of falls (OR = 4.90) and the ML excursion (OR = 0.43) as predictive factors of prospective falls accurately (Sn = 0.948). The exercising routine was protective against future episodes of falls (OR = 4.84). The regression model was able to accurately predict those older adults under the risk of prospective falls. Group exercising was able to protect older people from future falls.
Background: The toolkits of bibliometrics analysis enable the mapping and identification of trends within a given research area. This study aims to conduct a bibliometric analysis to identify the evolution of the “running performance” research field, focusing on publication characteristics and trends. Methods: We conducted a search for original articles, using the “advanced search” feature of Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC). A predefined search strategy was developed using the PICO strategy. Studies were screened by titles and abstracts. The information was used to map authors, organisations, countries, journals, and authors’ keywords. VOSviewer software (version 1.6.18) was used to construct and visualise bibliometric networks. Results: A total of 324 articles were included, with the publication data ranging from 1983 to 2023, with some variation over time. The United States and Canada presented the strongest influence in this research field, followed by European countries such as England, France, Switzerland, and Spain. The leading journals were the International Journal of Sports Medicine, followed by the Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research, and Medicine and Science in Sports and Exercise. Temporal trends indicated that the earlier studies primarily focused on physiological tests/variables, while more recent studies have shown a growing interest in biomechanics, pacing, and technology (footwear). Conclusion: North America and European countries present a strong influence in this field of study. Earlier investigations primarily focused on physiological tests/variables, while recent research has focused on diverse topics such as technology (footwear). Researchers interested in this research area should consider adopting a multidisciplinary approach in future studies.
Background: We sought to verify the standard of weekly training loads (TL) of the Brazilian under-19 men's volleyball team, the salivary cortisol and testosterone concentrations and perceived recovery status (PRS), to understand how these variables respond after one day of recovery, and to observe the correlations between PRS and salivary cortisol and testosterone concentrations. Methods: PRS, salivary collections for the analysis of testosterone and cortisol concentrations were performed in 17 athletes (18.3 ± 0.30 years, 87.39 ± 9.02 kg, 198.34 ± 8.13 cm) at the beginning of the first training session (M1), at the end of the last training session (M2) and one day after the last training session of the week, at the beginning of the session (M3). The session rating of perceived exertion method (sRPE) monitored TL. Results: The monotony was 2.1 A.U., and weekly TL was 5712 ± 149 (A.U.). Salivary cortisol concentrations showed significant differences between the moments evaluated (p = 0.001). There was an increase between M1 and M2 (p = 0.001; ES 1.18) and between M1 and M3 (p = 0.001; ES 1.27). No significant differences were found between M2 and M3 (p = 0.387; ES 0.30). Salivary testosterone concentrations remained similar between the three moments (p = 0.342), as well as the PRS (p = 0.298), with effect size insignificant and small between the moments. The PRS showed a positive correlation with testosterone and did not show correlations with cortisol. Conclusions: We conclude that the training loads generated significant increases in salivary cortisol concentrations, which remained after one day of recovery, without alterations in testosterone concentrations and PRS.
Abstract - Background Competitive rowing has also been on the Olympic program since the first Modern Olympic Games. However, there are no reports that normalize physical performance in the different tests. Aim: The purpose of the study was to analyze and present standardized values of physical performance in rowers of different categories, age groups, and sex. Methods: The search was structured under the PRISMA® guidelines for systematic reviews and meta-analysis. The search was performed in Web of Science, Scopus, SPORTDiscus, PubMed, and MedLine with no time limit until September 2023. Variables analyzed were maximal oxygen consumption (VO2max), heart rate, aerobic power, anaerobic power, and critical rowing speeds. Results: Most studies focus on VO2max. The highest VO2max was in the “elite” men category (5.46 LO2·min-1), while the lowest value was in the “novice” women category (2.88 LO2·min-1). The most frequently used test to evaluate VO2max was the 2,000-meter (m) rowing ergometer. Conclusion: The internal load most evaluated in rowers of all categories, age groups, and sex is VO2max. In most cases, VO2max is evaluated through the 2,000 m rowing ergometer test. However, this test has low reliability in lower-level athletes. In the latter case, exploring tests with a shorter duration (6-min on the rowing ergometer) is suggested.
Entre 18 e 20 de junho de 2025, na cidade de Rio Claro (SP), realizou-se o XIV Congresso Internacional de Educação Física e Motricidade Humana / XX Simpósio Paulista de Educação Física (XIV CIEFMH / XX SPEF), com objetivo de apresentar e discutir interfaces entre a Educação Física e o desenvolvimento humano, nas distintas áreas epistemológicas da Educação Física e do Esporte. Destaca-se que esta edição foi apoiada por financiamentos do CNPQ, da CAPES e pelas cotas de patrocínios da Phorte Educacional e do Restaurante Rainha. No âmbito técnico, também se registram os apoios da Realize Eventos Científicos e do Centro Esportivo Virtual. Visando maior abrangência, foram oferecidas as opções de participação presencial ou remota, que conjuntamente resultaram na inscrição de 262 pessoas (de 23 estados da união e de outros países). Da mesma forma, destacamos as inestimáveis contribuições dos 40 palestrantes convidados, que representaram instituições nacionais e internacionais. Com o devido cuidado na articulação teórico-prática, que é inerente à área, o XIV CIEFMH / XX SPEF foi estruturado a partir da oferta de 9 oficinas temáticas, 2 palestras, 13 mesas redondas e 6 mini-simpósios. Também no âmbito da divulgação científica, contou com a apresentação de resumos, nas modalidades comunicação oral (n = 126) e pôster (n = 61). À divulgação destes, especificamente, não houve dúvida quanto ao papel e prestígio da “Motriz. Revista de Educação Física”, culminando-se na organização do presente volume de anais. Todos os esforços combinados, pactuados desde as primeiras reuniões do grupo de trabalho, tiveram como objetivo central responder adequadamente à grandeza do evento, que se coloca como um dos pioneiros da Educação Física nacional. Não é tarefa fácil coordenar um evento plural que vem marcando a trajetória de muitas pessoas da área…, mas nos é motivo de orgulho ter recebido todas as devolutivas das pessoas relacionadas, ora pelas conversas ao longo dos dias de realização, ora pela avaliação formal. Com o sentimento de dever cumprido, por ora, cabe-nos agradecer às pessoas que contribuíram para a realização desta edição – seja direta, ou indiretamente – e, desde já, abrir o convite para a participação na edição de 2027, que marcará os 40 anos do CIEFMH/SPEF.
