
This paper scrutinizes the dissemination of research outcomes in the library and information science domain in SINTA-endorsed journals in 2022—the research aimed to unearth novel developments in the field within Indonesia. A quantitative bibliometric approach was employed for this study. The research included 342 papers from 20 journals indexed in SINTA 2-6. Järvelin & Vakkari’s (2022) categorization scheme was used to evaluate the data. The Cohen’s Kappa reliability test resulted in a value of 0.24, reflecting an adequate level of agreement.The study revealed that user education and information literacy instruction were the most frequently discussed topics. Research on interactive (user-centric) Information Retrieval; live or test collection text retrieval methods (inclusive of Cross-Lingual Information Retrieval/CLIR); and retrieval methods for other media types (such as image, video, music, multimedia, and hypermedia) is expected to cease in 2022. The research identified 338 authors contributing to the papers, with Diponegoro University emerging as the most prolific institutional contributor with 45 papers. Qualitative methodology was predominantly used, and keyword analysis results were grouped into 8 clusters. The study concludes that the spread of research themes is uneven, and several unexplored topics warrant attention for future research endeavors.
The Integrated Current Information Package System Sistem Paket Informasi Terkini (SIPINTER) is an integrated information service at the Library of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia (DPR RI), providing various information resources related to the duties and functions of the DPR RI. The system has been operating since 2020 to support literacy and research needs within the DPR RI. However, to date, no feedback has been provided by users who have accessed SIPINTER, either through a dedicated survey or through the website’s own survey feature, making it difficult to assess the system’s utilization and optimization. This study was conducted to evaluate the extent to which SIPINTER has been successful for users of the DPR RI Library by applying the DeLone and McLean model. A quantitative method with a correlational approach was employed to measure the influence among variables and to test the hypotheses. The findings indicate that three out of the seven proposed hypotheses were accepted, as the relationships showed path coefficient values below 0.05 and t-test values above 1.96. These accepted relationships include: system quality on system use, information quality on user satisfaction, and system use on user satisfaction. This study concludes that the success of SIPINTER is primarily determined by the quality of the system and the quality of the information provided, while the service quality aspect has not shown a significant influence. These findings indicate that improving service quality is an essential factor in optimizing the utilization of SIPINTER and offer new insights into the application of the DeLone and McLean model within the context of a legislative library.
Literacy tourism is a type of tourism activity that focuses on education. This tourism activity provides new experiences and knowledge and serves as a medium of information for tourists about tourist destinations. As a Super Priority Tourism Destination, the Borobudur area has unresolved issues, such as the low length of stay and the movement of tourist activities still centered in the temple area. The existence of Village Economic Centers (Balai Ekonomi Desa/Balkondes) as alternative tourism dispersed across 20 tourism villages in the Borobudur Area is currently seen as inadequate as a supporting tourist attraction and is frequently overlooked. This research aims to develop literacy tourism activities in the Borobudur area by revitalizing the Balkondes building as a literacy tourism space to support alternative tourist attractions and proposing alternative design concepts based on artificial intelligence (AI). This research employs a descriptive qualitative approach, utilising data collection methods that include observation, in-depth interviews with three informants, documentation, and a review of previous studies. Data analysis was conducted by synthesising the theory of literacy tourism and literacy tourism spaces with a localisation perspective, as well as data processing using Text-to-Image-based Gencraft AI. This research resulted in the integration of the concept of literacy tourism with the use of AI technology in the design of cultural tourism spaces in Balkondes, offering an approach to revitalising abandoned spaces while presenting an innovative model of tourism space that combines educational, social, and interpretive functions.
This research background is the persistent lack of appropriate cultural documentation activities. Most documentation of existing culture is generally only recorded in one direction. This causes the knowledge that exists in a culture to not be channeled effectively. The formulation of the problem in this research is how to document the Denok Deblong Folk Dance at Sanggar Greget Semarang through short videos. The aim of this research is to document the Denok Deblong Folk Dance at Sanggar Greget Semarang through short videos. The research method used is research & development (R&D). Data analysis was conducted using the ADDIE model, which includes analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. This study's results reveal that the Denok Deblong Dance documentation process involves multiple stages. First, analyse the requirements for making a short video. Second, preparing the script and other technical aspects for production. Third, developing the design of the short video that has been created. The fourth step involves the production of the short video. The fifth step involves evaluating the project using expert judgement. The involvement of expert judgement at the end of the short video production is a new approach in local cultural documentation videos, aimed at quality control and reinforcing the credibility of the information regarding the produced documentation. This sequence of stages produces a workflow to create Denok Deblong Dance documentation that is relevant and suitable for the library.
The Malang City Public Library provides special services for visually impaired library users through the Braille Corner Service (LAPOBRA), which is equipped with a braille collection and guiding blocks. However, the use of LAPOBRA has not been optimal due to a lack of mobility support facilities for visually impaired library users. The problem identified in this study is the absence of easily accessible guidance media for these users. Therefore, the development of an audio guide could serve as a valuable resource to help visually impaired library users access LAPOBRA, as this product has not yet been implemented at the Malang City Public Library. The purpose of this study is to develop an audio-based user guide as a means of educating users to improve the effectiveness of LAPOBRA orientation and accessibility. This study employs the Research and Development method with the Borg & Gall model approach, which is simplified into seven stages: research and data collection, planning, product development, initial testing, product revision, field testing, and final revision. Data were collected through observation, interviews, case studies, and questionnaires from six visually impaired library users selected through random sampling. The testing stage was conducted by media experts, subject matter experts, and visually impaired library users. The result of this research is an audio guide integrated with guiding blocks to assist visually impaired library users in accessing LAPOBRA. This audio guide explains the process of entering and exiting the service area based on the average footstep measurements of Indonesians. The results of the field test indicated a very high validity rate of 94%, demonstrating that this product is highly suitable for use. The creation of this product facilitates independent access to LAPOBRA for visually impaired library users and enhances their mobility in obtaining information.
This study aims to evaluate the performance of the SMKN 2 Bandung library using the Balanced Scorecard (BSC) framework. The research method employed is a case study with a qualitative, descriptive design. Data were collected through the BSC instrument, observation, and in-depth interviews. Informants were selected using a purposive sampling technique, which included the principal, librarian, and students. Data analysis was conducted using thematic and descriptive analysis methods. The study's results indicate several significant challenges across the four BSC dimensions. The financial sector shows that library funding accounts for less than 5% of the school budget, which is primarily focused on textbooks, neglecting facilities, staff training, and digital infrastructure. The customer dimension recorded 41.94% of students complained about a lack of non-academic books (motivational, history) and an inconvenient location, although 54.84% were satisfied. Internal processes were hindered by the SLIMS digital system (one computer for 2,000 students), which hampers e-book access, as well as inefficient asset management. The learning and growth section revealed that one librarian was managing 2,000 students (far from the ideal ratio of 1:500) and lacked technical training. This study concludes that the library performance of SMKN 2 Bandung is suboptimal. This performance is hampered by critical challenges across all four dimensions of the BSC, negatively impacting its support for vocational education. The study recommends strategic improvements, including reallocating funds for digital facilities and infrastructure, diversifying collections to reflect student interests, and enhancing human resource capacity through recruitment and technical training.
This study highlights the importance of aligning the Right to be Forgotten (RtbF) with personal data protection (PDP) policies and emphasizes the need for further research on its practical implementation in records management. While RtbF represents a strategic step toward safeguarding digital privacy, its application remains challenging due to the need to balance individual rights with organizational obligations to retain records in compliance with regulations. Using a quantitative approach, data were collected through an online survey involving 66 Indonesian Records Management Professionals Association (P3RI) members and analyzed using SPSS with chi-square tests. The findings reveal that 90% of respondents acknowledge the importance of PDP, and 85% oppose data processing without consent. Furthermore, 48.5% support the implementation of RtbF in records management (mean score: 3.3182), 51.5% report difficulties in deleting data during retention periods, and 50% (mean score: 1.7727) doubt the feasibility of its implementation within organizations. This study offers an initial contribution to shaping policy direction and practical frameworks for RtbF implementation in the Indonesian archival context.
Over the past five years, the Jurnal Kajian Informasi dan Perpustakaan has experienced a significant increase in the number of published articles. This growth has led to challenges in retrieving relevant information efficiently, highlighting the need for better information organization. One bibliometric approach that supports the organization and retrieval of information through keyword analysis and subject heading assignment is Zipf’s Law. This study aims to analyze word distribution, identify keywords located in the transition zone, assess the relevance between author-assigned keywords and those generated using Zipf’s indexing, and determine research topic trends based on Hawkins’ taxonomy. The research employs a quantitative approach using bibliometric analysis grounded in Zipf’s Law. Data analysis involves the application of Zipf’s Law I, Goffman's transition point formula, and subject classification using Hawkins’ taxonomy. The findings show that the word distribution and transition values vary across articles. Transition zone keywords are selected using a maximum range of 12 words above and below the identified transition point. Of the 82 articles analyzed, 48 (58%) showed keyword relevance, 33 (40%) showed marginal relevance, and only 1 article (1%) was found irrelevant. Subject trend analysis reveals that Societal Issues and Libraries and Library Services are the most prominent categories, each accounting for 28% of the total articles. This study demonstrates that Zipf’s Law can effectively generate relevant keywords and identify dominant research themes within scholarly publications. The results reinforce the potential of Zipf’s Law as a reliable tool for enhancing information retrieval and organizing subject classifications in academic journals
Information system performance evaluation is a crucial step for organizations in facing technological developments, supporting the achievement of strategic goals, and increasing competitiveness in the digital era. This evaluation ensures that the implemented technology not only meets current needs but is also able to keep up with the latest technological developments. The analysis of Digilib Perbanas' performance was conducted because of emerging issues related to feature complexity that make it difficult for users. If this problem is not immediately addressed and the system is not updated, Digilib risks being abandoned by its users. This study aims to evaluate Digilib Perbanas' performance using a combination of the PIECES and GTMetrix methods. The PIECES method is used to measure system user satisfaction through the variables of Performance, Information and Data, Efficiency, Economic, Control and Security, and Service. The number of respondents in the study was 312 students from the Faculty of Information Technology and the Faculty of Economics and Business. The measurement results for the Performance variable were strengthened by the GTMetrix method to measure website speed. Data collection was carried out through questionnaires and processed using IMB SPSS Statistics 27. The PIECES calculation results obtained an average variable value above 4.2 or Very Satisfied. However, the additional test result for the Performance variable using GTMetrix was E, indicating that the Digilib website's speed is still suboptimal due to the large amount of data on the platform. The hybrid approach between PIECES and GTMetrix produces a more robust evaluation of Digilib Perbanas by combining problem-based analysis through user perceptions and functional aspects, as well as evidence-based measurements of technical data on system performance.
The need for information to support the learning process is increasingly becoming a challenge for students with visual disabilities. They actively seek and use various sources of information, which causes information overload and affects the way they manage information in the future. This research uses Personal Information Management (PIM) theory which includes three main activities: finding/refinding, keeping, and the meta-level using a quantitative descriptive approach involving 32 respondents. The aim of this research is to understand how students with visual disabilities at private junior and senior high schools in Surabaya manage information in their learning process. The results show that, in finding/refinding activities, the majority of students (88%) need additional information related to subject matter accessed via the internet (91%). In keeping activities, students tend to save information on WhatsApp via the message yourself feature (81%). At the-level, the majority of students (91%) prioritize the privacy and security of their academic information. They also often separate relevant information from irrelevant (63%), although not yet effectively. Obstacles faced include device and screen reader problems (84%), as well as the tendency of students to forget where their information is stored (80%). However, 53% of students feel that the information management strategies they apply can support their daily learning activities.
There are some problems with using the Multi-Layer Perceptron (MLP) model for complex tasks because it can be hard to understand hierarchical relationships and tends to overfit data with a lot of dimensions. This research proposes an enhanced MLP model for sentiment classification by integrating feature extraction layers from advanced neural networks, specifically the Convolutional Neural Network (CNN), Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM), and Bidirectional LSTM (Bi-LSTM). These layers aim to improve the model's representation capabilities by capturing more nuanced features. To evaluate the performance improvements of this augmented MLP model, metrics such as accuracy, precision, recall, F1-score, and the Area Under the Curve for Receiver Operating Characteristics (ROC-AUC) were employed. A key metric focus is the delta value, representing changes in the ROC-AUC, to assess the significance of these enhancements. The integration of CNN as a feature extraction layer yielded optimal ROC-AUC results, achieving values of 93.30% and 93.00%, which reflect an improvement of 0.51% and 4.46% over the baseline model. These findings indicate that adding feature extraction layers significantly enhances MLP performance in sentiment classification tasks. Future research may explore the potential of using alternative neural networks as feature extractors to continue advancing MLP capabilities in complex NLP applications.
The Banyuwangi Blambangan Museum has several masterpieces of clay artifacts, including four mattresses and five tablets. All conservation and preservation efforts, both managerial and technical, are carried out only by one person responsible for this museum, the head of the Blambangan Museum. This research aims to understand the conservation and preservation process of material and tablet artifacts at the Banyuwangi Blambangan Museum. The research method used is a qualitative approach with purposive sampling techniques, in which the selection of data sources is based on specific considerations that the researcher considers to have an in-depth understanding of the research object. The research result show that preventive conservation and curative care processes have been implemented. However, some obstacles have emerged, including limited human resources, limited conservation facilities, and the absence of particular spaces for conservation activities such as preservation and restoration The study combines archaeological conservation and preservation techniques with the theory of Harvey and Mahard. Based on the research, the eight preservation and conservation steps applied at the Blambangan Museum have been carried out well but are not yet optimal. Two have not been implemented due to insufficient manpower and limited resources.
The need for a new paradigm in Library and Information Science (LIS) research is increasingly focused on the needs and experiences of library users. Traditional paradigms are considered inadequate in generating relevant and impactful knowledge for the library user community. This study discusses the application of the Design Thinking (DT) approach in the context of LIS research to improve the relevance and effectiveness of library services. DT offers an innovative approach to designing solutions that are more responsive to the challenges faced by library users. Through a systematic literature review, this study explores the various stages of the DT process, including empathy, problem definition, ideation, prototyping, and testing. The study also highlights the importance of interdisciplinary collaborative research in creating products and services that align with the needs of library users. The research method employed is a systematic literature review, which involves searching scientific databases with inclusion and exclusion criteria, evaluating the quality of selected articles, synthesizing data qualitatively, and concluding with a report following the PRISMA guidelines. The results indicate that the DT approach is effective as a user-centered research method. DT not only enhances user participation in the design process but also encourages innovation in the development of library services and LIS epistemology. The application of DT can transform the way knowledge is created in LIS by strengthening partnerships between researchers and users, making the process more responsive and relevant to the needs of library users. The conclusion of this study suggests that the application of DT can serve as a user-centered research method and reshape the approach to knowledge creation in LIS.
Interdisciplinary research is increasingly recognized as a crucial approach to addressing the complexity of religious and social issues in regional and global contexts. However, the implementation of such research often encounters significant challenges, particularly in fields like Islamic Studies. Despite its potential, integrating diverse disciplines into Islamic Studies research is not always successful due to various obstacles. With their unique expertise and role as "connectors," academic librarians are well-positioned to facilitate this interdisciplinary growth. This paper examines the challenges faced in interdisciplinary research within Islamic Studies and explores the potential involvement that academic librarians can use to overcome these barriers. Researchers employ a literature-based method involving stages of designing, collecting, analyzing, and presenting research to examine the challenges in interdisciplinary studies. The results reveal two primary types of burdens: scientific and practical. Scientific burdens include limitations in researchers' knowledge, difficulties in integrating disciplines, and an overemphasis on the original discipline. Practical burdens include implementing interdisciplinary curricula, navigating bureaucratic procedures, accessing research facilities, finding relevant information sources, and preparing research proposals. Academic librarians play a crucial role in addressing these practical burdens by optimizing policies, providing relevant collections and access, and developing advanced facilities and services. The study concludes that for effective interdisciplinary research, it is essential to recognize and address these burdens, leveraging the support and resources provided by academic librarians to enhance the research process.
Social inclusion for people with disabilities is a fundamental value that must be integrated into library services. This study aims to identify the efforts of the Bogor City Library in supporting social inclusion, focusing on six main elements of the inclusive library model: collections, physical barriers, partnerships, programs, training, and marketing. The research employs a qualitative approach with a case study method conducted from March to May 2024 through interviews with three informants who are librarians involved in disability services, field observations, and document analysis. The results of the study show the availability of various facilities to support accessibility for people with disabilities at the Bogor City Library. The library also has disability services, regular activities for people with disabilities, and a special collection of braille books. Additionally, the library collaborates with various organizations related to people with disabilities. The challenges faced include a lack of understanding among library staff in serving patrons with disabilities and the low visitation rate of people with disabilities. The conclusion of this research is that the Bogor City Library has demonstrated its commitment to providing inclusive services for people with disabilities through the provision of disability-friendly physical facilities, inclusive regular programs, and partnerships with disability communities. However, the library needs to enhance the skills of library staff, promote its services, and improve facilities to optimize social inclusion for people with disabilities.
Religious energizer is a term that is frequently used to define an individual who serves as a facilitator in everyday life, including work, based on their knowledge and religious teaching. In the librarians’ circumstances, the religious energizer behavior can be observed through their attitudes at work. These behaviors arise from their experience and religious knowledge, which then disseminate to their work circumstances and relatives. This research aims to determine the religious activities carried out by librarians as religious energizers to support their performance at UIN Imam Bonjol Padang. This research is descriptive with a qualitative approach, using interviews, observations, and documentation methods to get information and data. The object of this research is the UIN Imam Bonjol Padang library, while the subjects are three librarians of UIN Imam Bonjol as informants. The samples are generated based on a purposive sampling technique with particular criteria such as respect for librarians in work. After getting information and data, the author analyzed the data using triangulation, considering several steps such as data reduction, data display, and drawing conclusions. The finding revealed that three main activities reflect religious energizers performed by librarians at the State Islamic University of Imam Bonjol, Padang, such as 1) participation in religious practices, 2) sharing information, and 3) morning meetings. These activities bring librarians positive energy and vitality, conceivably upgrading their mental and emotional stability at work. Therefore, it is evident that religious energizers can improve the performance of librarians at the UIN Imam Bonjol, Padang library.
This dataset provides information on the involvement of librarians in efforts to improve data management literacy for the research community. The data provided provides a real picture of the state of research data management in Indonesia because it uses a mixed research approach. Data collection methods were survey, interview, and content analysis. The selection of respondents and informants used purposive sampling techniques, and the criteria were librarians, researchers, lecturers, and students who dealt with research data daily. Various types and formats of data are available in this dataset, such as images, audio, text, video, and documents. This dataset is useful for stakeholders such as policymakers, librarians, researchers, and students who have competencies in research data management. By utilizing this dataset, stakeholders can identify the needs of data librarians, research data service schemes, and policy making.
This study presents survey data from primary research papers containing effect size data and the number of respondents for several variables influencing consumer interest in purchasing electric vehicles. The survey utilized the Meta-Analytic Structural Equation Modeling (MASEM) approach. Data were collected in June 2021 using the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) to identify 11 valid papers. This survey aimed to collect effect size values, such as path coefficients and standardized regression weights, from each of the eleven papers. The effect size values collected indicate the magnitude of the relationship between the variables: Attitude, Perceived Behavior Control, Subject Norm, Charging Infrastructure, Environmental Concern, Financial Benefit, External Environment, Marketing Mix, Willingness to Pay a Premium, Incentive Policy Measures, and Perceived Value, and their impact on interest in purchasing electric vehicles. The data set stored in this repository can serve as a reference for researchers and policymakers in developing models and examining the relationship between variables influencing electric vehicles adoption.
The rapid advancement of animation and 3D modeling technology, particularly in virtual reality (VR), has significantly transformed digital interactions. This article discusses the application of VR in computer laboratory simulations for research, experimentation, and data analysis. VR offers interactive 3D visualization, allowing users to view objects and spaces from various perspectives. The research method employed photogrammetry techniques at the BRIN Science and Technology Laboratory in Bandung to gather data. The collected data was then processed using Blender and Unity software, resulting in high-quality 3D models. The VR Lab Computer dataset from BRIN consists of 31 files, including 16 images and 15 3D object models that can be accessed through specific applications. The visualizations produced provide an accurate representation of the laboratory space, equipment, and tools available. The findings of this research indicate the significant potential of VR in education and research, as well as benefits for individuals with physical or geographical limitations. Thus, VR not only enhances the learning experience but also improves the efficiency of repeating experiments.
Sumatra Island, with its tropical climate, provides an ideal habitat for orchid diversity. However, the rich diversity and potential of these orchids are increasingly threatened by high deforestation rates across Indonesia, leading to risks of reduction and even extinction. To address this, conservation activities are underway at the Samosir Botanic Garden. This study aimed to inventory the orchid diversity on Samosir Island. Collected orchids are being conserved as a living collection both ex situ at the Bogor Botanic Garden and in situ at the Samosir Botanic Garden. An exploratory method was used, resulting in a collection of 80 orchid specimens, representing 35 genera, 80 species, and 313 individual samples. These orchids were found at altitudes ranging from 989 to 1,799 meters above sea level and included 60 epiphytic species, 1 lithophytic species, and 19 terrestrial species. A total of 23 orchid species were identified during the exploration, and data on these species are stored in the National Scientific Repository (RIN). This repository provides a valuable resource for further research on the orchid species richness in Samosir Regency.
