
The study focused on effects of self-monitoring on examination phobia of computer science students in Nigerian Colleges of Education.Based on the purpose of the study two researchers questions were formulated and one hypothesis tested at 0.05 level of significance guided the study.True experimental researchers design was adopted for the study.Voluntary sampling technique was used to compose a sample of 60 computer science students used for the study.The instruments for data collection were Student Examination Phobic Traits Identification Questionnaire (SEPTIQ) and Examination Phobia Manifestation Scale (EPMS) developed by the researchers.The internal consistency reliability coefficient was determined for both the Students' Examination Phobic Traits Identification Questionnaire (SEPTIQ) and the Examination Phobic Manifestation Scale (EPMS) using cronbach alpha and reliability estimates of 0.73 and 0.95 respectively were got.The data collected were analyzed using descriptive statistics of mean and standard deviation while the hypothesis was tested at P < 0.05 level of significance using ANCOVA.Results showed that computer science students exposed to treatments using self-monitoring had significant reduction on their examination phobia manifestation than those not exposed.Gender is not a significant factor influencing the manifestation of examination phobia.Based on the above findings, discussions were made.The educational counselling implications of the findings were highlighted.Subsequently, conclusion and recommendation were proffered.
Nigerian universities have recently put in place some electronics-based strategies to equip students with academic and workplace skills and one of these electronics strategies is teleconferencing.For effective use of teleconferencing for educational purpose, the University of Nigeria and Nnamdi Azikiwe University introduced compulsory computer literacy courses into their curricula.Teleconferencing is a strategy that enables individuals to share resources at different locations.The study investigated the students use and worth of teleconferencing for educational purposes in Nigerian Universities.The study was a survey and was carried out in two Universities: University of Nigeria, Nsukka and Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, all located in Eastern Part of Nigeria.Three hundred and ninety-nine (399) subjects were involved in the study and a 56-item unstructured questionnaire was employed for obtaining primary data.The questionnaire was validated by experts while frequency count and simple percentage were used to analyse data collected.Findings reveal that undergraduates use teleconferencing and benefited from using teleconferencing tools for educational purposes.They also identified some problems attached to the use of teleconferencing for teaching and learning.The students still prefer to be taught by using teleconferencing tools or components.Recommendations include that more teleconferencing tools should be employed for teaching and learning in Nigerian universities and the lecturers should be computer literate.
In this work, the researchers tried to x-ray the perceptions of adult and non-formal education on the problems and prospects of globalisation and entrepreneurship in the 21st century.Four research questions guided questions guided the study.The population for the study was 360 adult and non-formal learners in Nsukka local government area of Enugu state.The sample for the study included all the 360 learners because of their manageable number.Simple random sampling technique was used to select the subjects for the study.The instrument used was a well-structured and guided subject for the study.The instrument used was a well-structured and guided questionnaire for analysing the research questions.The following major findings emerged: Globalisation and Entrepreneurship had positive impacts on Adult and Non-formal learners by ensuring that the economy is socially inclusive and that entrepreneurial skills promote the learners.Major recommendations were also stated in the study.
The integration of ICTs into mass communication has reinvented and redefined the communication system and the society at large.This paper, therefore, investigates these new trends in ICTs-media communication relationship with a view to highlighting their implications for education policy in Nigeria.Analysis reveals that the digitalisation of communication modernised media practice in Nigeria; ushered in the practices of phonography, hacking, data manipulations, cyber fraud, impersonation, and the entrance of non-professional media public influencers vide the social media.It further reveals people's reliance on networks information, the prevalence of unethical behaviours, and in-appropriate ICTs skills on the part of media professionals to control these challenges.These have serious implications for education policy in Nigeria because ICTs hold the key to educational transformation.The new trends in media communication are manifest in the schools' sector also.Therefore, appropriated policies should drive compulsory ICTs education and skills for schools in areas of administration, employment, promotion, curriculum, teaching, learning and research in a manner that guarantee ethical principles in the sector.
Production of quality products in biopharmaceutical companies can take up a principle of scientific, logical, contamination free, risk and impact assessment based approaches.All product deliverable industries come under Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) which will be duly audited by different regulatory agencies across the world.Identification of instruction which departs from the approved written procedure is called deviation.End user from user department has to identify the deviation during manufacturing process and report to QA (Quality Assurance) for further action.After commenting on deviation by user department head, QA should mark the relevant departments for their comments on deviation and impact assessment.Based on the investigation, impact to be assessed and deviation will be classified by QA as minor/ major/ critical.Initial classification of the deviation need not be in inline with final classification.Appropriate corrective action and preventive action (CAPA) will be proposed by user department with the co-ordination of relevant cross functional teams that will be duly verified and approved by QA.CAPA implementation will be carried out if applicable.Once after initiating the CAPA, deviation will be closed and CAPA effectiveness will be tracked.This is the first report on industrial deviation practices for compliance.
Expert system is computer software that nearly earns the decision making ability of human expert and it is one of the most promising areas of applied artificial intelligence.It had proved its importance in medical field particularly diagnosis of diseases.Expert system has three fundamental techniques namely, knowledge acquisition, knowledge inference and knowledge representation that involved into transferring expertise from human expert to the expert system then to user.Knowledge acquisition and knowledge presentation have been since termed as the problematic bottlenecks in the construction of the application oriented expert system.In this study, the previous studies carried out by various researchers based on knowledge acquisition and presentation of expert system for diagnosis of coronary artery disease have been reviewed and the weaknesses of each work have been spelt out.These spelt put drawbacks of the studies have termed as a knowledge gap to bridge in subsequent study to carry out.

The prevalence of suicides registered among students and farmers show a discrepancy across countries and socio demographic populations.Whereas in India, in 2012, over 2200 students committed suicide, due to failure in exams.The other side, the farmers, ending up their life, as there is no other option of survival, i.e.,Last final cry for help.It is commonly know that the agriculture is the backbone of India.But, many are unaware of pledge of the Indian farmer.Maharashtra a state in India constitutes for half of the farmer suicides in India.The state and central government of India should take necessary steps in stigmatizing illness The experiments carried out in our research deals with the dataset having 236583 observations and seven variables form year 2001-2012 describing out the suicide cases registered in India.The main focus, in our research is to address the risk factor in committing suicides among students and farmers in India.The findings in our research shows that, the Impact of committing is more in the Age group of 0-14 and 15-29.
This ex-post facto research study determined the influence of social networking on academic adjustment of English Language students.607 English Language students were used as sample size.The instrument for data collection was Social Networking and Academic Adjustment of Adolescents Questionnaire (SNAAAQ).The data collected was analyzed using mean, standard deviation and t-test.Results showed that social networking influences male and female, urban and rural English Language students' academic adjustment.It indicated that there is no significant difference between the mean ratings of English Language students from urban and rural, male and female areas on the influence of social networking academic adjustment.We recommend that language experts, counsellors and researchers should conduct a randomized control trial to evaluate the effect of social networking on academic adjustment of English Language students.
Image denoising is an established issue in signal processing.The most usual noise reduction methods use the average or linear methods such as wiener filtering noise reduction but the result and visual effect is not ideal.This article aims to propose an image denoising algorithm by combining two well-known image denoising techniques: i.e., total variation filter (TVF) and weighted bilateral filter (WBF), to obtain an improved image denoising result as compared to individual filters.We have used standard images data sets for our experiment.The results clearly show that the proposed algorithm results in a better quality image, both in term of numerically and visually.The image denoising results are compared quantitatively in terms of peak signal to noise ratio (PSNR) and it can be seen that the combination of total variation filter and weighted bilateral filter results in an improved image as compare to only total variation filter or only weighted bilateral filter.The proposed research has future implications as proposed scheme is applied on standard images but it can be used in real time image denoising with some modifications.
This study is a descriptive-relational research, determined the knowledge about sexually transmitted infections, knowledge on the services offered by the social hygiene clinic, and the health practices among commercial sex workers in an urban community.The respondents were knowledgeable about sexually transmitted infections specifically on the transmission, prevention, and the signs and symptoms of the disease.They also knew that the social hygiene clinic offers free consultation, one-on-one counseling, reading materials, and diagnostic tools.The respondents did not have correct promotive health practice, however, they had better preventive, curative, and rehabilitative measures.The relationship between the knowledge about sexually transmitted infections and knowledge on the services offered by the social hygiene clinic, and the health practices of the sex workers did not yield significant results.The findings suggest that a more comprehensive approach which provides a range of services to commercial sex workers including information dissemination, sexually transmitted infections promotive program, and health education should be sustained and strengthened.
China is the most populated country to produce fruits and vegetables in worldwide and China participating in global trade.Horticulture is the means of cash crops for farmers.Food demand is increasing in China with huge population and Chinese government is trying to meet the domestic demand through new agriculture polices.China's participation in global trade represents that Chinese fruit and vegetables industry fasces international food security standards and increased inspection worldwide.The objective of this paper was to investigate the China's trade situation and how food safety standards in the importing countries impact the exports of vegetables and fruits from China.This research paper discussed the historical and current situation of fruits and vegetables of China.The result shows that in the past Chinese agriculture was not enough but now their government is improving agriculture system and making policies, plans and programs.Now China adopts the Euro GAP system and participating in international market.Furthermore, China's food safety standards also significantly effect on vegetables and fruits export.
The integration of Information and Communication Technology (ICTs) into media communication completely transformed the communication industry in Nigeria towards faster, easier, cheaper, and all-inclusive information generation, processing and spread.However, it has raised new ethical challenges, which this paper tends to analyse to identify their implications for policy formulation.With the aid of qualitative research, contents analysis and consequentialism -deontology theories, the paper observes that ICT has generated new and enormous ethical challenges in media communication such as impersonation, piracy, defamation and calumny, fraud and hacking of information/database among others.The paper further observes the ineffectiveness of existing information policy to proffer solution to these problems.Therefore, it recommends a professional/stakeholders' national workshop to review the policy, and government's pro-active actions to adopt and fund new policies in line with the recommendations of the workshop.
The u-learning systems has different application platform are becoming popular. However, because of u-learning that virtually done from real classroom, the challenge is to evaluate the real emotions of the students towards the u-learning environment, perception to peers and teacher. The e-learner’s intelligent emotion detection gets the information in real time bases from the virtual class where the students are connected. The different expression of eyes, lips and face are detected real-time. Based on the detection, it is being compared to the pre-determined map of shapes and compare to the data stored in database. The proposed method stated can assist a developer to create a system that can detect the negative mood of the students in an u-learning environment. Using this metrics, the system can analyze whether the student felt bored or interested on a particular content of learning aid thereby providing a continuous feedback mechanism to instructor for enhancing the content and keeping the topics updated and interesting.
USA's insurance industry premium in 2015 was totalled to be 1.2 trillion USD and there were about six thousand insurance companies.To manage all the information and keep up with the ever-changing rules and regulations of government about the insurance policies demands a fast and robust application.This paper aims to explain such an application.Pega is used to build this application because of Pega's benefits such as Direct Capture of Objectives (DCO), Situation Layer Cake, etc are used by most of the leading businesses nowadays.The paper also discusses some of the other software used in BPM development like Oracle and IBM.An application system is created using Pega PRPC which can handle multiple insurance claims.The system has different lines for handling different claims like health, auto, home, travel, etc. Pega's unique features are used not only to create the application but also allow system architects to maintain the system.
The main object of this paper is to examine the current situation of ICT (Information Communication Technology) and integrating factors of ICT by the Small & Medium Enterprises (SME’s) existed in Sindh province of Pakistan. Moreover on the basis of cited literature, to find out the relationship of variables that enforce SME’s to add ICT applications in their enterprises. Mix paradigm approach has followed and randomly data was collected from the owner/managers of SME’s particularly manufacturing sector and analysis done by SPSS. The results of this paper provide a well-timed understanding of ICT integration by SMEs as well as also explained the ICT usage level inside the small and medium scale business units in the province. Finally a model has been developed on the basis of variables related to the integration of ICT. Four variables have been identified as the factors which are correlated in adoption of ICT applications, including economic perspective, competition perspective, innovational perspective and personnel perspective. Additionally, finding shows that the individual and economic factors have positive and significant impact on ICT integration by SMEs in Sindh. Usually it is important for small & medium scale firms and top level executives to add and organize ICT applications in an effective manner, get advantage of existing resources and accelerate the economic development in the region.
Recognize of the importance of English speaking ability, Teacher Training andEducation Faculty (FKIP) -Riau University has implemented English as a compulsory subject for all students since 2014.The focus of this subject is to improve students' oral communication.However, it is not easy in obtaining good speaking ability.This research aims to descriptively identify the constraints faced by students in obtaining good speaking ability as well as to look for the solutions.The formulation of the problems to be addressed are: (1) What are the constraints faced by students in speaking?( 2) What kinds of learning materials do the students want in order to they are able to improve their speaking ability?and (3) What kinds of teaching models should be used by the lecturers so that the students feel motivated to learn?This research was conducted during odd semester of academic year 2014-2015.In total 48 students from 16 available departments at Teacher Training and Education Faculty of Riau University were randomly chosen as the sample.The instrument used was a semi-structured interview, observation and documents observation.All the interviews were tape-recorded and transcribed word by word.The finding of the research shows that limited number of vocabulary, difficulties to understand grammar rules, do not have enough chances to speak English during the class, and poor environment for spoken communication in English outside class seem contributed to the students' insufficient ability in speaking.

Modeling & Simulation (M&S) is a technology that replaces the physical production and experimentation of products with virtual production (modeling) and engineering analysis (simulation). M&S can greatly reduce the time and cost it takes to develop new products and thus increasing the manufacturing company's competitiveness. This paper describes the construction of M&S platform based on High Performance Computer (HPC) cloud. High performance Engineering MOdeling & Simulation (HEMOS) is a M&S software developed to support structural analysis and fluid analysis. Developed using open-source software, it supports all M&S processes from pre-processing to analysis and post-processing. HEMOS is developed to simplify shapes, create mesh, and detect contact surfaces at the pre-processing. It uses CalculiX and OpenFOAM, both open-source solvers, to analysis structural and fluid problems without license restrictions at the analysis while OpenGL and Paraview were used to implement post-processing. HEMOS is provided through HEMOS-Cloud which was built based on Xen server with 532 CPU cores and is connected with KISTI ’ s supercomputer of about 300TF. This HPC Cloud-based modeling and simulation platform that services HEMOS can increase user accessibility and reduce costs.
