
Objective To investigate the clinical features of sphenoid sinus disease and the nasal endoscopic surgical treatment.Methods The clinical data and follow-up results were analyzed after surgery in 22 patients admitted to our department with sphenoid sinus disease;in these patients,15 cases were chronic sphenoid sinusitis,5cases of fungal sphenoid sinus,and two cases of sphenoid sinus cyst.The main symptoms manifested as unexplained headaches,sinus CT scan located the lesions and endoscopic sphenoidotomy was performed under anesthesia.Results There were no any complications during and after operation in all the patients.The patients were followed up from 6months to 2years,showing that the clinical symptoms disappeared and nasal cavity mucous membrane grew well,sphenoid sinus opening was good,without relapse of sphenoid sinus disease.ConclusionSinus CT scan and nasal endoscopy are very important for patients with unexplained headache.Endoscopic sphenoidotomy is minimally invasive and thorough debridement advantage of up to functional recovery,with less recurrence after surgery.
Objective To investigate the appearance of optic disc,retinal nerve fiber layer and macular ganglion cell complex in ocular hypertension. Methods A total of 48 eyes of 26 ocular hypertension patients,40 normal eyes of 20 healthy people were recruited in the study.Optic disc parameter,average RNFL,superior RNFL,inferior RNFL,average GCC,superior GCC and inferior GCC were measured by SD-OCT.The correlation between RNFL and GCC was evaluated and analyzed. Results No significant changes were found between the two groups,including optic disc parameter,RNFL-Avg,RNFL-Sup,RNFL-Inf,GCC-Avg,GCC-Sup,and GCC-Inf.The positive correlations were seen between RNFL and GCC(r=0.5631;r=0.5122;r= 0.5459,P 0.01).Conclusions SD-OCT is a sensitive approach to observe the structural changes of retina,and it plays an important role in the early diagnosis of glaucoma.There are no RNFL and GCC changes found in ocular hypertension.These patients need to be followed up.
Objective To observe the change of visual acuity and visual field after the 3-dimensional conformal therapy(3DCRT)of occipital tumor. Methods 19 patients with occipital tumor were selected.The visual acuity and visual field were measured before irradiation,at the end of irradiation,and 6,12 months after irradiation. Results There was no significant change of visual acuity and visual field after irradiation treatment(P0.05). Conclusions 3D conformal therapy is an effective and safe approach in the treatment of occipital tumor,and no visual function damage is found after the treatment.
Objective To discuss the effects of treating submucous myoma by radiofrequency ablation under the ultrasonic guidance. Methods 120patients of uterine myoma were selected between January 2005and January 2011and divided into two groups.Sixty patients received radiofrequency ablation under the ultrasonic guidance(study group),while the other received hysteroscopic surgery as control group.The clinical data of those patients were compared. Results There was significant difference between two groups in the amount of bleeding,the time of operation and the postoperative hospital day(t=23.459~31.547,P0.01).There was no obvious difference of treatment efficacy and outcome between submucous myoma type 0and type Ⅰ(t=6.357,P0.05),but there was significant difference between patients with submucous myoma typeⅡ(t=15.431,P0.01). Conclusion Radiofrequency ablation under the ultrasonic guidance has its advantages in the amount of bleeding, the time of operation and the postoperative hospital day compared to hysteroscopic surgery,and it is more easily to master this technology.
Objective To study the value of the body composition monitor(BCM)in assessing the dry weight of hemodialysis patients. Methods 126hemodialysis(HD)patients were selected from the hemodialysis center of this hospital,and 40healthy volunteers selected as control group, using the BCM to analyze the human body composition.The measured value of the total body water(TBW),extracellular water(ECW),intracellular water(ICW),and overhydration(OH)were measured,and the dehydration of the HD patients calculated(extra weight acquired between hemodialysis).The relationship between the OH and the dehydration was analyzed,and the accuracy of the OH applied in the dry weight assessed.The difference of the moisture distribution was compared between dialysis patients,and between dialysis patients and normal people. Results OH and dehydration were positively correlated(r=0.462,P0.01);for OH,the area under the ROC curve(AUC)was 0.854;water retention in hemodialysis patients mainly was ECW,which decreased obviously,with statistically significant difference(P0.05).The moisture distribution was closer to normal people after lower the dry weight. Conclusion BCM can monitor the excess water in dialysis patients objectively,and can be used to assess the dry weight.
