Environment contaminated with bisphenols contaminants including bisphenol A (BPA), bisphenol S (BPS), and bisphenol F (BPF) poses a serious threat to global public health. This study successfully developed a novel portable electrochemical sensing platform based on a composite of MnOOH nanorods and expanded graphite (MnOOH/EG) and smartphone for real-time quantitative detection of BPA, BPS and BPF. By combining MnOOH nanomaterials with the highly conductive EG, the prepared MnOOH/EG nanocomposite leverages the advantages of both components. EG component provides a large electroactive surface area and rapid electron transfer rate, significantly enhancing the response signal of the modified electrode. The abundant Mn (III) active centers in MnOOH endow the composite with excellent electrocatalytic capability. Experimental results demonstrate that this electrochemical sensing platform exhibits outstanding electrocatalytic oxidation activity and electrochemical sensing performance for these bisphenols with a low detection limit of 1.4 nM, 34 nM and 1.2 nM for BPA, BPS and BPF. The sensor also demonstrated a wide linear detection range, good selectivity, stable reproducibility, and excellent stability. Furthermore, when integrated with smartphone, the sensor demonstrated successful application in detecting bisphenols in complex real water and soil samples, exhibiting excellent recovery rates. These findings indicate that this study provides a novel sensing platform with application potential for achieving highly sensitive detection of bisphenols contaminants in the environment.
