W drugiej części omówiono cztery następujące kwestie szczegółowe związane z analizowanym pojęciem religijnych celebrytów: obecność religijnych celebrytów w sferze publicznej i w agendzie medialnej; dominacja logiki mediów a problem tożsamości religijnej; celebryci religijni vs. faktyczne autorytety religijne; wpływ celebrytów na kształtowanie religijnych postaw i na rozumienie sacrum. Artykuł ma charakter analityczny i wprowadzający. Metoda badawcza: Posłużono się metodą krytyki piśmiennictwa, metodą przeglądu literatury oraz metodą analizy i syntezy. Odwołano się do teoretycznych prac badawczych nad celebrytyzacją i mediatyzacją takich przedstawicieli nauk społecznych, jak m.in. Olivier Driessens, Wiesław Godzic, Chris Hackley, Stig Hjarvard. W interpretacji obecności religijnych celebrytów w sferze publicznej i agendzie medialnej pomaga perspektywa instytucjonalna i konstrukcjonistyczna mediatyzacji. W badaniach empirycznych dotyczących religijnych celebrytów należy uwzględnić odmienne pryncypia instytucjonalnych przedstawicieli denominacji religijnych wobec pryncypiów logiki mediów.
The BOBCATSSS 2025 international conference, held in Istanbul, Turkey (January 21–23, 2025), examined the intersection of artificial intelligence (AI) and library and information science (LIS). Organized by LIS students from Istanbul University, Ankara University, and Gustave Eiffel University, the event drew 200–300 participants from Europe, Asia, and beyond. Keynotes, panels, workshops and case studies discussed AI applications in libraries, ethical and legal challenges, information literacy, knowledge management and open science. Special emphasis was placed on inclusive services, digital exclusion, and algorithmic transparency. Hungarian contributions highlighted national innovations in AI-driven library services. With peer-reviewed presentations and diverse research methods, BOBCATSSS 2025 enhanced academic discussion while promoting networking among students, professionals, and researchers. The conference emphasized the profession’s need to address the ethical, technological and social implications of AI integration.
University libraries are pivotal in fostering dynamic and resilient academic environments by facilitating effective learning, teaching and research endeavours. However, the ability of these libraries to fulfil their mandate hinges significantly on visionary leadership. Drawing from the insights of Michael Gibbson and contemporary leadership theories, this article explores the critical role of leadership in enhancing the resilience and relevance of university libraries in Nigeria. It scrutinizes the challenges posed by ineffective leadership, which often stems from issues such as ethnic patronage and compromised selection processes. Moreover, it underscores the necessity for proactive leadership that can navigate the complex terrain of university politics and resource allocation to bolster library collections and services. By examining the relationship between leadership styles and organizational culture, the article emphasizes the importance of cultivating a supportive work environment that fosters innovation and customer satisfaction. Furthermore, it advocates for continuous training and development initiatives to equip library leaders and their staff with the necessary skills to adapt to evolving demands and technologies. The article provides valuable insights for policymakers, administrators and practitioners seeking to strengthen the resilience and efficacy of academic libraries’ leadership in Nigeria and beyond.
In scholarly publishing, AI is expected to raise productivity and make access to knowledge more widespread but this has come with anomalies known as AI hallucination, representing a new wave of human misinformation undermining the validity of scholarly publication. This study examines librarians' perceptions on implications of hallucinations in artificial intelligence and human misinformation for scholarly publication. The study adopts a descriptive research survey design. The population for this study consists of librarians in Nigeria. Purposive sampling technique was used to elicit responses from librarians that are on social media platforms, then snowball sampling was used to get to librarians that were difficult to reach using general social media platforms where they could be found. The instrument for data collection is a structured questionnaire. 97 responses were found valid for analysis. The data collected from the questionnaire wereanalyzed using mean and standard deviation. The study discovered that librarians possess knowledge of both AI hallucinations and human-driven misinformation. Librarians also strongly perceive that these significantly compromise the credibility, reliability, and overall integrity of scholarly publications. Librarians face considerable challenges in mitigating misinformation, including lack of specialized AI training, absence of established verification guidelines, rapid technological advancements, limited institutional support, and difficulty verifying printed and unpublished works. The study also discovered that librarians have adopted several strategies to curb AI hallucinations and human misinformation, including training on AI technologies and raising awareness about the development of AI tools for adaptation, set guidelines to address AI hallucination. It was recommended that the knowledge of librarians be strengthened through ongoing professional development programs, specialized workshops, and by AI literacy. This will help librarians stay updated on new trends in misinformation and better educate researchers and students.
Background: The need for economic growth among the nations of the Global South has necessitated inquiries into Small and Medium-scale Enterprises (SMEs) as drivers of such growth. However, how well SMEs will function is determined by certain factors like information poverty, which places entrepreneurs as vulnerable users of business information. Purpose: The article explored factors that address information poverty toward enhancing SMEs for economic growth in the Global South.. Methodology: The study adopted a Rapid Literature Review (RLR) approach to synthesise literature on how addressing concepts of information poverty (information literacy, access to information and information infrastructure) would enhance SMEs in the nations of the Global South. EBSCOhost, ProQuest, and Google Scholar were used for the review, which hinged on four eligibility criteria: methodology, publication year, language and publication source. Findings: The study found that information literacy positions entrepreneurs with the right skills to grow their enterprises in the information-driven economy, impacting their business performances. The analyses also showed that access to required information predicts entrepreneurs’ business growth and sustainability. Moreover, the study found information infrastructure as an essential asset in improving the competitiveness of SME owners leading to their business growth. These three factors (information literacy, access to information and information infrastructure) were found to be crucial in addressing information poverty toward the growth of SMEs. Conclusion: The study concluded that when entrepreneurs possess information literacy, and have unhindered access to information and information infrastructures, there will be a better performance in their enterprises, which will in turn impact the economic growth of nations in the Global South.
