1Postoperative Clinical Course and Tolerability of a 3% Coffee Infusion in Patients Undergoing Elective Surgery: a Prospective Descriptive Study
Elsy Victoria Rueda Páez, Lennys Carvajal Suárez, Clara Helena Gonzalez Correa

Introduction: Elective surgeries allow for optimal clinical preparation, unlike emergencies. However, outcomes such as postoperative ileus increase costs and hospital stays. Consequently, non-pharmacological interventions like coffee infusion, rich in caffeine and chlorogenic acid, have been explore. Objective: To describe the postoperative clinical evolution and tolerability of administering a 3% coffee infusion in patients undergoing elective surgeries. Materials and Methods: An observational, descriptive, and prospective study was conducted in 17 adult patients who underwent elective surgery at Hospital San Juan de Dios de Pamplona, Colombia. Patients received three cups of 3% coffee daily starting at the initiation of oral intake. Sociodemographic, anthropometric, and clinical variables were collected, and the presence of symptoms associated with postoperative ileus and hospital length of stay were evaluated Results: Among the participants, 88.3% were women, with a mean age of 42.6 years. Malnutrition was observed in 70.7% of patients, mainly due to excess weight, and 76.5% exhibited cardiovascular risk based on waist circumference. Most surgeries were open procedures (76.5%). No patient developed postoperative ileus, 88.2% had a one-day hospital stay, and no complications associated with coffee consumption were reported. Conclusion: The use of 3% coffee in postoperative patients was safe and associated with absence of illnesses and short hospital stays. Coffee may represent a low-cost, non-pharmacological strategy to support postoperative recovery; however, larger controlled studies are needed to confirm its effectiveness and establish standardized protocols.

2IoT-Based Smart Water Monitoring System Using MQTT Protocol
Romina Muñoz Buzeta, Alvarez, Ignacio Quilodrán Cerda, Vicente Salinas Barrera, Oscar Loyola Valenzuela

Introduction: A significant portion of the population still lacks access to drinking water and relies on non-conventional sources such as wells and springs. In these cases, information on water quality and availability is difficult and expensive to obtain. The solutions available in the local market do not offer equitable access to tools that effectively address these needs. Objective: This work describes the development of an autonomous system composed of hardware and software, designed to monitor in real time the physical-chemical parameters of water, as well as to visualize and interpret the data in a way that is accessible and understandable for the community.Methodology: An IoT-WQMS-based device is presented, which uses five sensors to measure in real time key water parameters, such as pH, conductivity, turbidity, flow rate, temperature and humidity. The data is transmitted via GSM signal using the MQTT protocol, and is processed and visualized through easy-to-use software, designed to be accessible to the community. Results: The results include the graphical interface and visualization of water quality data in a laboratory prototype, both instantaneously and averaged over defined time intervals. Conclusions: The IoT-WQMS system presents advantages in terms of cost and accessibility for obtaining and interpreting water quality data in low-flow sources, in a laboratory environment. Future challenges include the transition to renewable energy and the integration of additional communication protocols, such as LoRaWAN.

3A Reproducible Layered Directed Acyclic Graph Protocol for Secondary-Data Studies
Diego Rivera Porras, Yulineth Gómez Charris, Valmore Bermúdez

Introduction: Secondary-data studies (clinical, administrative or sensor records) embed selection, measurement and missing-data processes that are often treated as “preprocessing”, leaving key causal assumptions implicit and hard to audit. Objective: To propose a reproducible protocol that makes causal assumptions explicit in secondary-data studies using layered directed acyclic graphs. Methodology: The protocol separates a material causal system (exposure→outcome) and three additional layers: (i) selection/observability, (ii) operationalisation and measurement (constructs vs. recorded proxies) and (iii) missing-data mechanisms. It includes estimand and time alignment, extraction rules and cohort construction, plus quality control based on graph source code and figure traceability. Results: Outputs include a reporting checklist (Table 1), a decision→threat→graph-signature mapping with conditional mitigations (Table 2), a related-work gap synthesis (Table 3), layered DAG examples (Figs. 1–9) and reproducible evaluations quantifying typical biases and sensitivity to missingness (Tables 4–7). Conclusions: The layered approach makes selection, measurement and missingness assumptions explicit; improves reproducibility through code–figure–text traceability; and operationalises alignment between design/analysis choices and the estimand, limiting claims that exceed the available evidence. A minimal applied case shows that observation/missingness decisions can materially shift the estimand, motivating explicit sensitivity reporting (Δ) and denominators.

5Propuesta De Un Modelo De Redes Neuronales Artificiales Para La Predicción Del Éxito O Fracaso De Proyectos Basados En El Enfoque PMBOK
JAVIER ANTONIO PINEDO CABARCAS, MIGUEL ANGEL GARCIA BOLAÑOS, GABRIEL ELIAS CHANCHI GOLONDRINO
