Abstract The article examines the role of municipalities in linking education, local economic development, and sustainable development. The quantitative study, involving 149 Slovenian municipalities, analyses associations between different forms of municipal engagement in education and selected socioeconomic, institutional, and strategic characteristics of local communities. The findings do not confirm a statistically significant association between municipal cooperation in educational programme development and lower unemployment, nor do they support the assumption that city municipalities exert greater influence on educational programme development. By contrast, statistically significant associations are identified between selected forms of municipal co-financing of education and growth in the number of business entities, and between strategic sustainable-development documents and stronger cooperation among municipalities, educational institutions, and businesses. The findings suggest that municipalities’ role in education should be understood primarily through strategic planning, stakeholder coordination, and institutional cooperation rather than as a direct causal determinant of socioeconomic outcomes.
Abstract Within the modern business environment, the role of knowledge is becoming increasingly important, especially with the emergence and development of the knowledge economy, which has replaced the industrial economy. Thus, knowledge becomes a key resource on which a company’s operations depend. By applying knowledge as a strategic resource, companies shape an appropriate organizational structure. The main objective of this paper is to determine the impact of knowledge management processes on the performance of business processes as the foundation of a process-oriented organizational structure in medium and large Bosnian-Herzegovinian (hereinafter B&H) companies operating in knowledge-based industries. To achieve this objective, a non-parametric Kruskal–Wallis test and multiple regression analysis were applied. The research results showed that knowledge management processes indeed affect the performance of business processes that form the foundation of a process-based organizational structure. The value of this paper lies in the fact that knowledge is increasingly being applied for practical purposes with the goal of improving business processes and, consequently, overall business performance.
Abstract The purpose of this study is to develop the Cloud ERP Cybersecurity Assessment Framework (CECAF) to systematically evaluate cybersecurity capabilities in cloud ERP platforms. The framework was developed through the synthesis of academic literature, internationally recognised cybersecurity standards, cybersecurity capability maturity assessment principles, and cloud ERP-specific cybersecurity requirements, and demonstrated through an evidence-based assessment of Infor CloudSuite using publicly available official technical documentation. The findings demonstrate that CECAF enables a structured, transparent, and reproducible evaluation of cybersecurity capabilities across multiple assessment domains. The study contributes by introducing an analytical assessment framework tailored to cloud ERP platforms and by highlighting the methodological importance of documented technical evidence for objective cybersecurity capability assessment. The framework provides practical guidance for cybersecurity evaluation and comparative assessment of cloud ERP platforms.
Abstract In today’s rapidly evolving, technology-driven business environment, companies must continuously enhance workforce competencies through training and development to remain competitive. However, in many organisations, employee training is either absent or conducted in an ad hoc and unsystematic manner. The purpose of this paper is to examine which organisational factors influence firms’ decisions to engage in employee training. The research uses correlation analysis on a sample of Serbian companies drawn from the World Bank Enterprise Surveys conducted in 2019 and 2024. It examines the relationship between selected organisational factors and the incidence of employee training. The results show that organisations characterized by higher levels of management maturity and more developed strategic management practices are more likely to provide employee training in a regular and systematic manner. These findings support organisational transformation efforts aimed at establishing employee training and development as a continuous organisational activity.
Abstract Anti-money laundering (AML) is becoming an increasingly information-intensive business process requiring advanced analytical support for effective organisational decision-making. Although previous research has extensively investigated machine learning, graph analytics, and other analytical methods, existing studies largely examine these approaches as isolated technological solutions. This conceptual study adopts a business process perspective. It develops a capability-oriented framework for analytics-driven AML by synthesizing digital transformation, business process management, business analytics, and AML literature. This perspective conceptualises the digital transformation of AML as the coordinated development of interconnected organisational analytical capabilities embedded within business processes. The study contributes by integrating previously fragmented research streams into a coherent, management-oriented perspective. It provides a conceptual foundation for future empirical research and practical guidance for financial institutions pursuing analytics-driven AML transformation.
