Artificial Intelligence (AI) is defined as “the capacity of a computer, robot, programmed device, or software application to perform operations and tasks analogous to learning and decision making in humans, such as speech recognition or question answering. Chat Generative Pre-Trained Transformer (ChatGPT) represent an example of this promising technology as it is designed to communicate and interact with people similarly to a human being”. The introduction of any form of AI based technologies could be beneficial in nursing education and healthcare provision. A questionnaire co-created with ChatGPT was administered to nursing students, nurses and educators aiming at exploring how those technologies would impact on the world of healthcare and education. 176 participants were recruited. Data analysis showed that the perceived potential benefits of introducing AI include: improved quality of nursing care, of the diagnostic process and of job satisfaction. Conversely, some of the risks would be: limited opportunities to critical thinking and reduction of interaction and collaboration.
As telehealth reshapes healthcare, the landscape for persons with dementia and their caregivers is rapidly evolving. Our scoping review examines how digital health equity was addressed or examined in the context of telehealth interventions among PwD and their family caregivers. We conducted a scoping review and used four electronic databases, PubMed, CINHAL, Embase, and Scopus, using combinations of keywords including “digital literacy,” “caregivers,” and “dementia.” We analyzed 8 studies that met the inclusion criteria. Almost half of the studies were descriptive studies and have emphasized the importance of educating digital inclusiveness to all stakeholders including nurses.
This study explores the integration of design thinking into online problem-based learning (PBL) within the context of nursing education, leveraging Google Jamboard as a facilitative interactive tool. By prioritizing creativity, empathy, and iteration, this innovative approach seeks to bolster student motivation and satisfaction. Employing a quasi-experimental design, the research involved third-year nursing students and compared the efficacy of traditional PBL methods against a hybrid model that integrates design thinking principles. Notably, the experimental group’s interaction with Google Jamboard significantly enhanced their engagement, resulting in notable improvements in both motivation and satisfaction. The findings underscore the benefits of merging online PBL with design thinking, particularly when supported by digital tools, in creating a more vibrant and effective learning environment. This methodology not only stimulates active learning but also fosters vital competencies such as critical thinking and collaboration, which are crucial in the nursing profession. The results of this study advocate for the implementation of cutting-edge teaching methodologies in nursing education and pave the way for further investigation into the enduring impacts of this educational amalgamation.
This article explores the “On-Demand Health Education System” in healthcare, highlighting its role in enhancing nursing efficiency and quality. Using a database, it allows nurses to provide tailored education via QR codes for patients and families. Key findings show its positive impact on education quality and efficiency, though improvements are needed in user interface and accessibility for certain groups like the elderly. Future enhancements should focus on user experience and expanding accessibility, acknowledging the potential of such systems in medical education with technological advancement.
Objective: Design and develop a Clinical Care Classification (CCC) nursing information system aligned with nursing terminology CCC, emphasizing standard procedures and a responsibility-based nursing model to enhance efficiency and quality of care. Methods: Conduct thorough investigation into clinical nursing informatics needs, analyze existing system shortcomings, utilize Microsoft.net for development, integrate standard nursing procedures and clinical operating protocols into system functions. Structure database based on bed characteristics, implant CCC Nursing Terminology and clinical nursing knowledge base. Results: Successfully design and develop CCC Nursing Information System featuring patient list, nurse assignment, nursing evaluation, diagnosis, goals, plan, interventions, special care, shift handover, record query, workload statistics, and intelligent guidance based on patient assessment and nursing elements. Conclusion: The CCC Nursing Information System advances standard nursing procedures in clinical practice, promoting standardization and responsibility-based holistic care. It harnesses big data to enhance system intelligence.
