Lowland floodplains are complex ecosystems comprised of standing and flowing waters interacting with terrestrial habitats, and the main force creating, shaping and influencing, both habitats and biotic communities, is a hydrological regime and water supply from the parent river. In areas not much altered by anthropogenic influence, the Danube creates such floodplain areas, and temporary shallow water bodies within represent biodiversity important habitats. In the Kopački Rit Nature Park floodplain in Croatia, diversity based on Chironomidae (Diptera) in both benthic and epiphytic communities was studied in eight ponds (temporary shallow water body) and at two channel locations (permanent shallow water body). At each location samples of sediment and macrophytes were taken at three sites. The benthic chironomid community was comprised of 29 taxa, most abundant being representatives of the Chironomus genus and Tanypus kraatzi in ponds, and Polypedilum nubeculosum and Cladotanytarsus sp. in channel samples. Cricotopus gr. sylvestris, Paratanytarsus sp. and Endochironomus tendens were dominant epiphytic chironomids (18 taxa). Non-metric multidimensional scaling and analysis of similarity analyses showed there was a clear grouping of sampling locations based on their position in the park and the distance from each other, more evident in the case of benthic chironomid communities. Furthermore, when the water bodies were compared based on the community structure from different locations and substrates, there was also a statistically significant separation. Community composition indicates high productivity and organic matter production of studied water bodies, but moreover, the differences in substrate preferences evident in 16 common out of 31 recorded chironomid taxa, indicate the importance of habitat complexity preservation in a floodplain.
Wire coating is widely used for electrical insulation to protect the wire from electric shock, prevent electrical leakage, and ensure that the electrical current flows smoothly. In this investigation, a pressurized coating die is used to explore the PTT fluid as a polymer material for wire in a magnetic field. The flow field, flow rate, temperature profile, thickness of the wire coating, volume flow rate, and shear stress are all given exact solutions. Graphs were used to illustrate the effects of certain important technical parameters, including flow rate, wire coating thickness, shear stress, and pressure gradient. It has been noted that as the values of X, Deborah number, and ratio of radii are improved, the volume and thickness of the coated wire rise. The Deborah number has a higher volume flow than the X and radii ratios. A reference to existing literature is made in order to support the validity of the current study.
Microplastic, which is of size less than 5 mm, is gaining a lot of attention as it has become a new arising contaminant because of its ecophysiology impact on the aquatic environment. These microplastics are found in freshwater or drinking water and are the major carriers of pollutants. Removal of this microplastic can be done through the primary treatment process, secondary treatment process, and tertiary treatment process. One approach for microplastic remediation is ultrafiltration technology, which involves passing water through a membrane with small pores to filter out the microplastics. However, the efficiency of this technology can be affected by the structure and type of microplastics present in the water. New strategies can be created to improve the technology and increase its efficacy in removing microplastics from water by knowing how various types and shapes of microplastics react during ultrafiltration. The filter-based technique, that is, ultrafiltration has achieved the best performance for the removal of microplastic. But with the ultrafiltration, too some microplastic that are of sizes less than of ultrafiltration membrane passes through the filter and enters the food chain. Accumulation of this microplastic on the membrane also leads to membrane fouling. Through this review article, we have assessed the impact of the structure, size, and type of MPs on ultrafiltration technology for microplastic remediation, with that how these factors affect the efficiency of the filtration process and challenges occur during filtration.
Collaborative filtering is a kind of widely used and efficient technique in various online environments, which generates recommendations based on the rating information of his/her similar-preference neighbors. However, existing collaborative filtering methods have some inadequacies in revealing the dynamic user preference change and evaluating the recommendation effectiveness. The sparsity of input data may further exacerbate this issue. Thus, this paper proposes a novel neighbor selection scheme constructed in the context of information attenuation to bridge these gaps. Firstly, the concept of the preference decay period is given to describe the pattern of user preference evolution and recommendation invalidation, and thus two types of dynamic decay factors are correspondingly defined to gradually weaken the impact of old data. Then, three dynamic evaluation modules are built to evaluate the user's trustworthiness and recommendation ability. Finally, A hybrid selection strategy combines these modules to construct two neighbor selection layers and adjust the neighbor key thresholds. Through this strategy, our scheme can more effectively select capable and trustworthy neighbors to provide recommendations. The experiments on three real datasets with different data sizes and data sparsity show that the proposed scheme provides excellent recommendation performance and is more suitable for real applications, compared to the state-of-the-art methods.
Tractors installed automated manual transmission can avoid discomfort for the drivers because of excessive limbs intervention as well as improve shift quality. Automatic clutch control is critical for the performance of the automated manual transmissions. For a good operation, precise and fast control of clutch position is mandatory. In order to meet these requirements, an enhanced strategy focused on the clutch is presented adopting a simple tracking control method based on the detailed models in this study. Clutch models including DC motor model and mechanical actuator model are established and transformed to a controllable model. On the basis of the control model, a clutch position tracking control scheme is proposed composed of motor control circuit and motor angle tracking controller designed according to the backstepping method. Simulations are carried out in comparation with the internal model control method, and the results demonstrate the effectiveness of the presented control scheme by superior rapidity and accuracy of the controller response for the clutch position tracking system.
