There are many ways how leaders influence their follower to attain the goals. The leadership process may be effective when there is a consistency between leader and followers focus. This study integrates Bass‘s Leadership Theory (1985) and Higgin‘s Regulatory Focus (1997). Higgins proposes two ways how people to attains the goal, namely promotion focus that regulates achievement of gains, and prevention focus that regulates the losses avoidance. Bass classifies leader behaviour into three, that is transformational characterised by behaviors that challenge and motivate followers to achieve desirable goals, communicate value-laden visions of ideal future states, encouraging accomplishment, and express support for change, activation positive emotions; transactional involves creating exchange-based transactions with followers; and laissez-faire or no leadership. We predict that transformational leadership correlates with follower‘s promotion focus, transactional leadership correlates with prevention focus of the followers, and laissez-faire leadership negatively correlates both promotion focus and prevention focus. The sample of this study is 261 rural staff at Rural Offices in Banyumas Regency. The study concludes that laissez-faire rural leaders reduce both promotion and prevention of their followers. Although the data show that transformational and transactional leadership styles were applied, but they are not supported by the data. Keywords: Transformational; transactional; laissez-faire; promotion-prevention focus; and rural leadership.
Scholars identified characteristics that affect competitive advantages, such as dynamic capabilities and distinctive competencies. Nonetheless, these elements occasionally fail to perform optimally due to unforeseen circumstances, such as the current global pandemic, which makes it increasingly difficult to sustain a competitive advantage. Therefore, this research attempts to develop a new business model for the contingency of the pandemic period. This research hypothesizes that pandemic leadership and system resilience will strengthen the link between distinctive competencies and competitive advantage. This article advances a novel approach by incorporating curvilinearity into the moderating influence of pandemic resilience management, a new word coined by combining pandemic leadership with system resilience. We validate our suggested model using structural equation modelling on a sample of 200 Indonesian national and multinational firms. The findings indicate that there is a favourable correlation between distinctive competencies and competitive advantage. Furthermore, pandemic leadership and system resilience moderate the association between distinctive competencies and competitive advantage in a beneficial way. Pandemic resilience management was discovered to moderate the relationship between distinctive competencies and competitive advantage with the U-shape curvilinear model. Keywords: distinctive competencies, competitive advantage, pandemic leadership, system resilience, pandemic resilience management
Entrepreneurial is one of the solutions for a country to face an economic crisis and reduce the country's unemployment problem. However, no more than 50% of the startup business can survive in the first three years. This study tries to provide the complex relationship between Self-efficacy, Risk-taking propensity, Innovativeness, and business survival with technology turbulence as the moderating variable. The data collection was provided through literature review from the previous study as the predictor. The contribution of this study is the clarification of the facts of personality characteristics of entrepreneurs and the indication that external environments can moderate the personality characteristics of an entrepreneur. The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of changes in gold and nickel prices on stock returns with the Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) as a control variable. This study wants to see whether changes in gold and nickel commodity prices on the world market caused by market sentiment can affect the stock returns that investors will get. The object of this research is a mining company in the metal and mineral sub-sector, which produces these two products (gold and nickel). The data used is quarterly data, with a research period from June 2018 to July 2021. After the data passes the classical assumption test, this data is retested level of influence by using panel data with twice the test model. Afterwards testing, the results of this study indicate that changes in gold prices do not have a positive effect on mining companies. This is because mining companies in Indonesia do not all produce gold. In contrast, nickel prices can consistently affect mining company stock returns. This is because nickel products are the largest contributor to sales in Indonesia. Gold and nickel are commodities that are very sensitive to market sentiment, so mining companies must be careful so that their stock returns remain attractive in the eyes of investors.
