2 Abstract: This study investigated the abundance of coliform bacteria in Nile tilapia sampled from different sources. Densities of total aerobic bacteria, total coliform (TC), faecal coliform, (FC) and Escherichia coli were measured from different organs of Nile tilapia sampled from pond, gher and market using serial dilution and spread plate techniques. Significant differences were observed in various parameters of bacterial density between and within different organs of Nile tilapia (p<0.05). Significantly higher density of faecal coliform was detected in the muscle, gill and intestine in Nile tilapia sampled from pond than that of market.
