Transesophageal electrophysiological study was carried out in 15 patients with atrioventricular nodal reentrant tachycardia before the antiarrhythmic therapy at the peak of 150 mg of propafenon and 80 mg of sotalol. These drugs had the similar antiarrythmic efficacy. Sotalol prolonged refractoriness in the atrioventricular node, mean P-P interval and sinus node recovery time greatly in comparison with propafenon.
