It’s well known that neutrophils being fundamental effectors of the host protective from bacteria infection can generate various oxidants and proteins with antibacterial functions such as myeloperoxidase (MPO) and lactoferrin (LF). The aim of our study was to determine the MPO and LF concentrations in serum, sputum and lavage of patients with cystic fibrosis in minimum activity and exacerbation periods of disease, with and without Ps. aemginosa.
