Characterization of Signals from Multi Scale Edges

Points of sharp variations are often amongst the most important features for analyzing the properties of transient signals or images. In images, they are generally located at the boundaries of important image structures and hence are used to discriminate objects from their background in computer vision and pattern recognition applications. Edge detection is also used in detecting flaws in metal surface and in many more feature based image processing applications, hence has been the primary focus of the researchers over the last few decades.
