While many firms have introduced knowledge management (KM) initiatives, very few are actually approaching it in a way that links KM initiatives directly to their organizational business strategy. Developing an effective KM strategy requires careful analysis and thorough planning as well as alignment with the organization's overall business strategy and with other functional strategies. To explore and understand the development and alignment of KM strategy, we conducted research using focus group methodology.
