Ketamine causes rapid anti-anhedonic response in treatment-resistant depressed (TRD) patients, yet little is known about the brain regions underlying this effect. Theoretical and empirical accounts implicate the structure and function of the habenula as a key neural region driving symptoms of anhedonia. In this study, we examined the relationships among pre-treatment habenula volume, motivational symptoms and ketamine response.
