French Guidelines for the Treatment of Cancer-Associated Venous Thromboembolism - 2023 Update

Background: In recent years, knowledge about cancer associated thrombosis has evolved considerably. Methods: Practical guidelines were drafted on the initiative of the INNOVTE FCRIN Network, led by the French Speaking Society of Respiratory Diseases (SPLF), by a coordinating group, a writing group, and a review group, with the involvement of different scientific societies practicing in various settings. The method fol-lowed the "Clinical Practice Guidelines" process of the French National Authority for Health (HAS). Results: After a literature review, guidelines were formulated, improved, and then validated by the working groups. These guidelines addressed multiple aspects of the disease and management from the data of avail-able clinical trials and observational studies : epidemiology, initial treatment, treatment duration, extended treatment, recurrent thrombosis, central venous catheter thrombosis, incidental thrombosis, treatment in case of thrombocytopenia.
