ABSTRACT TWO brooding techniques were used in this studyhigh density T^ and T3 and full area T2 and T4. Broiler population in T^ and T3 was three times greater than T2 and T4 for the first 21 days of age. The 21 day ventilation rates were: T, 0.67 T2 and T3 = 0.72 T4 per 1000 birds. See Fig. 5 for the actual ventilation rates. There was no significant difference found between the 21 and 56 day weight, feed conversion and mortality at P< 0.05. The 21 day fuel use showed that T1 used 68.6 percent less than T2 and T3 used 81.4 percent less fuel than T4. Therefore it can be concluded that significant amounts of brooding fuel can be saved without perfor-mance sacrifice by using high density brooding.
