Nonparametric Data

Nonparametric statistical methods encompass a wide array of techniques that make no underlying assumptions about the distribution of the data in the population. These techniques are particularly useful for non-normal and/or categorical data. In this chapter, we identify several nonparametric statistical and data visualization techniques including, chi-square, bin graphs, spline regression, and regression discontinuity, and provide advice for introducing them in a graduate-level political science methods course.
