The energy eigenvalues of the electrons in a quantum box of a simple Kane-type narrow-gap semiconductor having cylindrical symmetry are investigated through a perturbation technique in the presence of crossed electric and magnetic fields. The effects of changing the dimensions of the box as also of changing the fields on the lowest quantized state are discussed using the relations obtained, taking n-InSb as a typical example of such a semiconductor.
