Public Processes

Abstract Health departments are government agencies, at the federal, state and local levels, are regulated in how they conduct business and spend public money. For example, there are laws governing how decisions to hire or select contractors are made. There are also laws that grant the public access to government records and data. Anyone working at a health department will inevitably encounter these special processes. These processes and the reasons for them, are discussed in this chapter.
