The recovery system has a variable displacement pump/motor with mode actuators and swash plate controller for selecting the mode. A motor-generator drives the pump. The system has a pressure responsive control arrangement having a cylinder and an actuator controlling the swash plate, depending on the position of a piston. The control arrangement includes a fluid line connected to a pressurized supply line.
During operation of a hydraulic system (20) or manipulator, when the servo valves of the servo system are operational to supply fluid to the actuators, the pump/motor is in the pump mode. When the manipulator is decelerating, the actuators provide a fluid at a pressure above normal from the pump. The pressure controller senses this and enables a meter mode. In this mode, the meter/generator supplies electricity to the mains.
