A transport complex of theRepublicofBelarusincludes automotive, railway, sea air transport. Interaction of these types of transport is a necessary condition for efficient operation of transport communications, solution of transport-logistics problems. The paper gives description of main types of transport and considers problems of their interaction. A special attention is paid to improvement of an automobile road network which is to ensure the transport-logistics system which is developing in the Republic.
Climatic conditions of the territory where the road is located (air temperature, solar radiation) influence the “work” of asphalt concrete pavements. The influence causes shear deformations at high positive temperatures and the occurrence of cracks at low negative temperatures. In the late 80s, in the USA the asphalt pavement design system Superpave (Superior Performing Asphalt Pavements) defined the temperature limits of pavement “work”. The Performance Grade parameter has been introduced associated with the choice of bitumen. Based on the long-term climatic data the temperature limits have been determined for the territory of the Republic of Belarus.
Crack formation in сement concrete is due to structural and adhesive processes occurring under influence of temperature, water and corrosion factors. The paper proposes methods for protection of сement concrete plates by an organic material or a cement concrete protection layer which is separated from a basic plate by an elastic membrane.

However there is no comprehensive solution of the problem that combines a material science and affirmative approaches. Existing technology for crack sealing in roadway covering is rather efficient at the stage of its operation and makes it possible to eliminate cracks depending on their nature and opening width but there is no efficient diagnostic and control system for preventing cracks with opening width up to1 mmwith the purpose to exclude their further development.

Principles of designing non-rigid motor roads are comprehensively studied in the paper. The paper proposes a dependence between pavement strength and pavement smoothness.

Provision of safety traffic on the highways in Poland is ensured by using signs of changing information, point light-reflecting elements and various means of regulation and control of motion speed. In addition to technical means some organizational measures are also realized in the country and they are executed under control of the State Council of Safety Traffic. The paper contains statistics about accidents for the period of2004-2006.
Highway slipperiness is one of the most dangerous meteorological phenomena for traffic participants. Exclusion of glazed frost formation can be only achieved on the basis of slipperiness forecasting. Winter slipperiness forecasting is rather complicated problem due to a lot of influencing factors and their non- deterministic character. Various types of winter slipperiness and specific forecasting features of this phenomenon are thoroughly considered in the paper. Forecasting methods for some highways and their sections are mainly statistical at the present moment. They are based on processing of a great number of empiric data. The paper proposes an empiric model for forecasting temperature pavement according to ambient temperature, humidity, wind direction and presence of vegetation along a highway. The obtained model can be used to forecast slipperiness formation during winter highway operation.
