Antipsychotics might be thought of as pleuripotent broad-spectrum psychotropics, given the versatile pharmacological portfolio, with a multitude of uses on clinical grounds, albeit off-label. Herein, authors would touch briefly on the general pharmacology and therapeutic potential of antipsychotics. Nonetheless, It should be borne in mind, that the level of evidence supporting the use of antipsychotics in many of these unlicensed indications remain, at large, flimsy, and other agents with solid evidence-base should be explored first.
This case of a 10-year-old girl herein presented is one of the earliest to report safe and effective use of cariprazine, a metabolic-friendly agent, targeting the behavioral facets in ASD. This might open new treatment venues in such complicated clinical scenarios.
Eugeroics are a distinct, yet heterogeneous group of psychotropic agents that differ from classical stimulants, are less activating, of less abuse potential, sorely clinically underutilized, and have an attractive pharmacological portfolio speaking to the idea of pluripotent molecules of an expanded therapeutic potential. Herein, authors would touch briefly on the current available literature on eugeroics as germane to psychiatric practice whilst examining the extant evidence.

~ Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a devastating relentlessly progressive illness for which currently there is no definitive curative treatment. The mainstay of treatment remains symptomatic, though. Psychopharmacotherapy is only part of a multi-pronged package of care involving caregivers. Herein, authors would shed light on the main pharmacological options at hand.
Since its first inception by Kahlbaum in relation to schizophrenia, Catatonia syndrome is currently believed to cut across many neuropsychiatric diagnoses. In this focussed review, authors touch briefly on prevalence of catatonia in psychiatric presentations, discuss clinical diagnosis, neurobiology, typology, and conclude with a psychopharmacological algorithm to treatment.
Herein, authors report on an ASD child with comorbid ADHD, ID, metabolic syndrome and nocturnal enuresis that failed multiple trials of psychotropic agents for behavioural dyscontrol. Viloxazine adjuventia brought about remarkable improvement spanning different domains. Purported pharmacodynamic mechanisms are briefly discussed. This case represents one of the earliest reports of viloxazine use in ASD.
Genital dysmorphia, with male preponderance, is commonly used to refer to penile dysmorphia. This dysmorphia, centred on penile size, can be contextualized as a specifier of body dysmorphic disorder with varied levels of insight. It follows that cosmetic surgery for men with genital dysmorphia without prior assessment and specific treatment is unlikely to be helpful.

Authors herein decently argue that psychiatrists can and should play a crucial role in helping women understand the interplay of reproductive health and mental health as they are positioned to be an advocate as well as an active force in enabling reproductive choice.
Objective:A patient with major depressive disorder (MDD) was receiving transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS). A little over halfway through the course the patient was bereaved and experienced normal sadness. Our objective is to describe the tracking and outcome of this common emotionally distressing event. Method:Routine assessments conducted at the centre include the six-item Hamiton depression rating (HAMD6) scale, the Clinical Global Impression-Severity (CGI-S) scale, and the Subjective Depression Scale (SDS6). In addition, the Daily Sadness Scale (DSS) is applied at each treatment day; this is a single question asking how much sadness/depression is being experienced. Results:On the 19th treatment day, the patient was bereaved and experienced appropriate sadness. The pathological state (MDD) resolved, as reflected by changes in the psychometric tools. Following the death, normal sadness emerged and lessened over a few weeks. Conclusion:This case illustrates that while TMS can effectively treat MDD, it does not prevent the emergence of sadness in uncomplicated bereavement.
