Family businesses play a crucial role in economic development and operate across diverse industries, including the furniture sector. However, ensuring the longevity remains challenging, as only around 30% of family businesses successfully into the second generation and similar to 12% into the third. Despite this concern, empirical research on Corporate Sustainable Longevity (CSL) remains limited, particularly within family business contexts. Furniture industry contributes 1.43% to the Indonesian GDP and is dominated by family business, which comprise nearly 80% of total companies. This study develops and empirically tests a CSL model in the Indonesian family business furniture industry by examining the roles of social capital, family involvement, and innovation capability. Using a quantitative approach, data were collected from 103 family businesses in furniture industry and analysed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modelling. The results indicate that social capital and family involvement significantly enhance CSL, both directly and indirectly through innovation capability. This study contributes to the family business and longevity literature by extending the understanding of CSL in emerging economies, while also providing practical insights for family business in furniture industry to strengthen innovation capability through effective utilization of social capital and strategic family involvement to achieve long-term sustainability and competitiveness.
Public Private Partnership (PPP) is a contractual arrangement between government and private institutions to share resources, tools, and expertise for delivering public services. In Indonesia, PPPs have been widely applied in infrastructure sectors, but little attention has been given to their role in supporting micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in adopting digital marketing. This study aims to build a PPP institutional scenario for implementing digital marketing in MSMEs and to formulate a priority strategy for strengthening PPP-based digital marketing policy. A mixed-method approach was employed, combining scenario planning with the Fuzzy Analytical Hierarchy Process (FAHP). Data were collected from 17 experts through in-depth interviews and analyzed using scenario modeling and fuzzy weighting techniques. The findings indicate that developing institutional guidelines, establishing a task force, fostering commitment, and creating PPP patterns are key strategies to enhance MSMEs’ digital adoption. The results highlight the importance of government investment in digital infrastructure, training programs, and supportive regulations. This research provides practical contributions for policymakers in strengthening PPP-based digital ecosystems and academic contributions by advancing scenario-based decision-making for sustainable MSME development.
Oil palm replanting is critical for maintaining yields, improving farmer livelihoods, and reducing expansion to forested areas. Indonesia’s smallholder farmers manage a large proportion of the national plantations but face declining productivity due to aging trees and substantial constraints in replanting programs. This study presents a systematic literature review of research published between 2015 and 2024 on smallholder oil palm replanting in Indonesia. Using PRISMA-based screening, this study applied Open Knowledge Maps and VOSviewer to examine research trends, thematic clusters, and knowledge gaps. The analysis identified five dominant themes: environmental impacts, biomass economic valuation, corporate farming schemes, institutional arrangements, and community-driven initiatives. Environmental studies focus on biodiversity and greenhouse gas emissions, whereas economic research examines subsidy effectiveness and productivity. Institutional analyses highlight policy frameworks and extension services, while community-oriented research explores farmer participation, collective action, and risk preferences. Despite increasing scholarly attention, major gaps remain in understanding replanting profitability, behavioral decision-making under risk, effective support mechanisms, and integrated sustainability dimensions. This study provides a comprehensive research map and outlines priorities for strengthening sustainable replanting strategies for Indonesian smallholders.
Biofuels have increasingly become a viable option for many countries in achieving sustainable development by reducing carbon emissions and enhancing energy security. However, empirical evidence on the determinants of biofuel imports remains limited, especially across countries with different levels of import intensity. This study examined the determinants of biofuel import demand, both in aggregated and disaggregated forms (ethanol and biodiesel) by using panel data from 162 countries over the period 2012-2024. Static panel and quantile regressions were employed to capture both average effects and distributional heterogeneity. The results showed that GDP positively affects biofuel imports. On the other hand, relative import prices, fuel imports, exchange rates and carbon emissions per capita exerted negative effects. Trade openness exhibit heterogeneous effects across quantiles, and mandatory biofuel policies emerge as a significant positive driver, particularly across different import levels in the case of aggregated and ethanol. These findings suggest that policymakers should adopt targeted and differentiated strategies across countries with varying levels of biofuel import volumes, rather than applying uniform policy approaches. Strengthening biofuel blending mandates remains essential, particularly in countries with higher import volumes. In addition, maintaining relative price competitiveness is crucial, given the strong negative effect of import prices on biofuel import volumes. Furthermore, enhancing trade facilitation and supply chain efficiency, supported by technological innovation as a complementary factor for trade openness ensures stable imports and long-term energy security.
Knowledge sharing within paddy farming ecosystems remains constrained by fragmented information sources, limited accessibility, and weak coordination among stakeholders. While various digital agricultural platforms have been introduced, many fail to achieve sustained adoption due to unclear stakeholder roles and insufficient mechanisms for collaborative knowledge exchange. This study develops a Collaborative Knowledge Sharing Model (CKSM) to support stakeholder-driven digital knowledge portals for paddy farming. The research adopts a Design Science Research (DSR) approach involving problem identification, systematic literature analysis, stakeholder consultations, model development, and validation. Empirical insights were obtained through consultations with key agricultural organizations in Kedah, Malaysia, including the Kedah Department of Agriculture, the Muda Agricultural Development Authority (MADA), and Lembaga Zakat Negeri Kedah (LZNK), ensuring the contextual relevance of the model. The proposed CKSM consists of three integrated components: the Central Knowledge Hub (CKH) for structured knowledge storage and dissemination, the Stakeholder Collaboration Layer (SCL) for facilitating multi-stakeholder interaction and co-creation of knowledge, and the Monitoring and Feedback Mechanism (MFM) for continuous evaluation and improvement. Within a collaborative knowledge ecosystem, the proposed model also defines the roles of six stakeholder groups: farmers, agricultural agencies, research institutions, financial institutions, agri-tech providers, and community organizations. By integrating digital infrastructure with clearly defined governance and participation mechanisms, CKSM enhances knowledge accessibility, coordination, and collective learning within the paddy farming sector. The model provides a scalable framework for developing inclusive agricultural knowledge systems and supporting evidence-based decision-making in digital agriculture initiatives.
This study examines the impact of customer experience and engagement on customer satisfaction and loyalty within the omnichannel strategy employed by The Body Shop in Indonesia. As the cosmetic and personal care market experiences rapid growth, it is essential for companies to deliver an integrated experience across both online and offline channels. A seamless and consistent customer experience across various touchpoints can significantly enhance customer engagement, which in turn drives satisfaction and fosters loyalty. The research employs a quantitative approach with purposive sampling, analyzing data using Structural Equation Modeling-Partial Least Square (SEM-PLS). The results indicate that customer experience has a positive and significant effect on both engagement and satisfaction, which ultimately contributes to improved customer loyalty. The findings offer valuable insights for companies in shaping more effective omnichannel strategies, aiming to enhance customer satisfaction and loyalty in a sustainable manner. By understanding these dynamics, businesses can refine their approach to integrating online and offline experiences, ensuring they meet the evolving expectations of customers and strengthen long-term relationships. This research provides practical recommendations for companies in the cosmetic and personal care industry to remain competitive in an increasingly digital marketplace.
Background: As of August 31, 2025, 32,456,829 Indonesians have registered as PBPU participants, with 47.9% being inactive due to premium payment arrears, totaling IDR 20.1 trillion. The mandatory digitalization (auto-debit) of JKN premium payments for PBPU participants is a management strategy to maintain and increase participant activeness.Purpose: This research aims to analyze the actual behavior and characteristics of PBPU participants that influence their use of digitalization (auto-debit) using the Motivation, Ability, and Opportunity (MAO) theory. It also formulates alternative strategies as recommendations for organizational improvement in refining existing policies.Design/methodology/approach: This research was conducted from January to October 2024 with 300 respondents. The respondents' answers were processed using descriptive analysis, top two boxes and bottom two boxes, crosstabulation, PLS-SEM, and priority/performance matrix.Findings/Results: The results show that the benefits of auto-debit for PBPU participant activeness have the strongest influence on motivation, knowledge about paying mandatory auto-debit premiums has the strongest influence on ability, and knowing information about mandatory auto-debit payments has the strongest influence on opportunity. Meanwhile, the intention to continue using auto-debit has the strongest influence on auto-debit usage.Conclusion: The results indicate that Mandatory auto-debit for JKN premium payments has not been effective in maintaining and increasing PBPU participant activeness. Therefore, management needs to improve educational information provision on auto-debit usage to enhance literacy skills and refine policies that impose sanctions to increase compliance among PBPU participants.Originality/value (State of the art): A systematic, structured, massive, and sustainable JKN campaign program and education effort can be an effective strategy to increase PBPU participants' knowledge and literacy about JKN participation administration, including mandatory auto-debit payments, to enhance participant activeness. This study aims to identify the factors influencing the competitiveness of the Indonesian downstream coffee industry and provide a forecast through 2030. This study uses Revealed Symmetric Comparative model, to identify the position and determinants of competitiveness in Indonesia's downstream coffee industry. In developing the forecasting model, this study employs three approaches: ARIMA, HP-Filter, and ARDL forecasting, utilising data from 1990 to 2023. The study indicates that Indonesia's downstream coffee industry has comparative advantages, as reflected in the continuous increase of RSCA values over the past two decades. The Porter Diamond model shows that GDP, manufacturing value-added, and foreign direct investment are key drivers of competitiveness. Coffee prices negatively affect both the short and long term, while domestic consumption negatively affects competitiveness only in the short term. Land area, however, does not show a significant effect. The forecasting results show that the competitiveness of the downstream coffee industry in Indonesia is projected to experience continued growth from 2024 to 2030.
Iklan telah menjadi bagian yang tidak terpisahkan dari kehidupan masyarakat modern, namun paparan iklan dari berbagai media juga dapat menimbulkan rasa terganggu bagi penonton. Fenomena ini semakin terlihat salah satunya pada YouTube Live Streaming karena tingginya interaksi antara kreator dan audiens membuat penonton lebih sensitif terhadap gangguan seperti iklan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis faktor-faktor yang memengaruhi perilaku penghindaran iklan dengan menempatkan iritasi iklan sebagai variabel mediasi antara ketertarikan terhadap kreator, konten, dan iklan, kebaikan timbal balik, keterlibatan penonton, serta persepsi kegunaan iklan. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif melalui survei daring terhadap 297 responden aktif pengguna YouTube Live Streaming yang pernah terpapar iklan dalam satu bulan terakhir, dengan analisis menggunakan Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa iritasi iklan berpengaruh positif terhadap penghindaran iklan, sementera persepsi kegunaan iklan menurunkan tingkat iritasi. Sedangkan kebaikan timbal balik secara signifikan mengurangi penghindaran iklan. Di sisi lain, keterlibatan penonton yang tinggi terindikasi dapat meningkatkan iritasi iklan, dan ketertarikan terhadap kreator, konten, dan iklan yang tinggi juga terindikasi mendorong penghindaran iklan, meskipun pengaruh keduanya relatif lemah. Temuan ini menegaskan bahwa strategi periklanan perlu memperhatikan kegunaan dan relevansi iklan, kenyamanan penonton, dan menonjolkan hubungan empati dan kebaikan timbal balik antara audiens dan kreator.
This study aims to identify the primary factors influencing the demand for money in Indonesia and to provide forecasts through 2033. The research employs two methodologies: time series econometrics and machine learning, utilizing data spanning from the first quarter of 2010 (2010Q1) to the fourth quarter of 2023 (2023Q4). The results of the study indicate that, in the long term, the demand for money in Indonesia is influenced by two main determinants: Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and Financial Institution Depth (FID). In the short term, the significant determinants include interest rates, inflation rates, GDP lag, FID lag, and electricity access. The forecast results suggest that the demand for money in Indonesia is projected to experience positive growth, reaching IDR 16,855,845 billion by 2033. This finding underscores the continued importance of physical currency in the Indonesian economy. Based on these results, this study serves as a guideline for policymakers in managing the demand for money by considering the variables that can either increase or decrease this demand. The positive forecast for the demand for money also highlights its significant role in supporting a stable Indonesian economy in the future.
Palm oil is a crucial agricultural commodity that holds substantial importance in the Indonesian economy, enhancing the export revenues and developing a rural economy. Production levels have consistently and substantially increased during the previous decades. However, this increase aligns with the substantial amount of palm oil mill waste (POME) that has the potential to pollute the environment, causes damage through water pollution and greenhouse gas emissions. The utilization of Plasma Nanobubble (PNB) technology could efficiently tackle this problem. Nevertheless, more research is necessary to assess the effects of this method on the treatment of palm oil residue. The aim of this study is to provide a thorough review of the costs and benefits related to the use of PNB technology for treating palm oil waste. The results of this study demonstrate a significant reduction in costs by 23%, from Indonesia Rupiah or IDR. 9,370,939,000 to IDR 7,214,155,960. The utilization of PNB technology generates several benefits, including improved environmental effects. A notable benefit discovered is the considerable decrease in color before and after the application of the PNB technology. In addition, there was a significant decrease in total suspended solids (TSS) of –969.8%, biological oxygen demand (BOD) of –1790.2%, and chemical oxygen demand (COD) of –2534.1% after the implementation of PNB technology. Therefore, PNB technology emerges as a viable solution for the palm oil industry to address the POME waste problem, contributing to creating new knowledge on waste management that can be applied by other palm oil producing countries.
This study examines the adoption of educational technology (EdTech) platforms for nonformal education in Indonesia, focusing on students from kindergarten to high school, using an extended UTAUT2 model. Data were collected via a questionnaire from 279 students and analyzed using PLS-SEM. A key addition to this research is the investigation of the new national curriculum in Indonesia, i.e., Kurikulum Merdeka (Independent Curriculum) and its influence on students’ behavioral intention to use EdTech platforms. The findings reveal that performance expectancy, Independent Curriculum, and habit shape behavioral intention, while facilitating conditions, habit, and behavioral intention significantly impact use behavior. This study fills a crucial research gap by analyzing EdTech adoption in younger students, offering valuable insights for EdTech companies to expand market reach and improve retention, particularly for elementary and middle school students. Additionally, it extends the UTAUT2 model with a new construct and provides sociocultural insights for policymakers to support digital learning. These contributions are vital for shaping the future of EdTech as a nonformal education platform in Indonesia.
Background: The demand for PGA surgical suture is increasing, which was recorded from 2017-2019, reaching 148 million in the world and 1.2 million in Indonesia. This is in line with the increase in surgery. Currently, many foreign medical device products are supplied from imports, reaching 70%, and have high prices. PT XYZ is one of the medical device distributor companies that collaborates with companies in the European region as suppliers. The company often experiences problems in procuring product inventory because it depends on one supplier, which affects supply chain performance and creates various risks in its business processes. Purpose: This research focused on risk mitigation at PT XYZ. Design/methodology/approach: The HOR analysis and fishbone method. Findings/Result: Based on the HOR analysis and fishbone method, 3 priority sources of risk that must be mitigated are supplier errors, fluctuating demand, and limited storage space. Furthermore, the mitigation that must be done is to encourage suppliers to build factories in Indonesia, provide quarterly order forecasting, and hold regular meetings for evaluation and strategy making. The author's previous research has found a strong link between project managers adopting an ambidextrous leadership style and improved project performance in the telecommunications industry. This leadership approach, blending Transactional and Transformational elements, has proven to be impactful. Therefore, it is essential to devise methods for enhancing project managers' adeptness in ambidextrous leadership. This study aims to create a prioritized strategy program to enhance project managers' ambidextrous leadership skills in Indonesia's telecommunications sector. The Fuzzy Analytical Hierarchy Process (Fuzzy AHP) involved 15 experts as respondents, ensuring a comprehensive perspective from academics, consultants, and practitioners. The study's findings underscore the importance of Ambidextrous Leadership skills, followed by managing stakeholder relationships. The key factor is the Project Manager's role, supported by backing from the company or institution. The primary goal is to enhance Project Performance and improve adaptability to change. The recommended strategy prioritizes a Leadership Development Program followed by a Change Management Development Program. This study emphasizes the practical approach to developing project managers' ambidextrous leadership skills to enhance project performance in Indonesia's telecommunications sector. The focus is on the Leadership Development Program, offering actionable insights for industry professionals.
Some business license commitments in online single submission (OSS) application currently only consist of an independent statement from the business actor, and there is no time limit for fulfilling the license, especially for low-risk bio-business licenses. Therefore, a system design is needed to monitor the fulfillment of business license commitments and to provide confidence to the public regarding the business provided. The system design started with discussing the importance of smart governance systems, defining the requirements for monitoring the commitment of bio-business licenses, selecting documents, determining important words and document types, and proposing a design. This research produces a prototype of a business license monitoring system. This smart governance system checks the validity of business license documents. This study provides new insights into how smart governance system can be implemented in bio-business licensing. This study also considers the thousands of government applications that currently exist and the desire to provide one solution that contains many functions that can fulfill the many needs of business actors for simple and transparent business licenses.
The Internet is widely recognized as an important technology to accelerate export performance. In the case of energy trade, the issue of export efficiency must be achieved for every exporter country, including Indonesia. The essential input factor to achieve maximum efficiency of trade is to utilize the internet as a technological factor. Therefore, the objective of this study is to examine the impact of the internet on the efficiency of primary energy exports in Indonesia. The study employed the Stochastic Frontier Gravity Model (SFGM) to analyze data from 26 destination countries spanning the period from 2011 to 2020. The result reveals that the condition of internet technology from importers, proxied by fixed broadband subscriptions and secure internet servers has a significant effect on Indonesian export energy performance. Furthermore, the addition of internet technology enhances the Indonesian primary energy export efficiency by comparing the efficiency before and after involvement of the internet. Therefore, the condition of internet technology from importer countries must be considered to maintain the export performance of Indonesia's primary energy to the global market.
Despite the rapid advancements in payment technologies, cash continues to play a significant role in modern society. This phenomenon presents a unique area of analysis, particularly within metropolitan societies such as those in the Jakarta metropolitan area in Indonesia. The present study aimed to investigate cash usage in the Jakarta metropolitan area by analyzing two cases: (1) cash usage in physical stores, and (2) intention to continue to use cash in daily activities. To this end, two analytical techniques were employed: logistic regression and structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM). These techniques were implemented using data from 400 respondents residing in the Jakarta metropolitan area. The results of the study indicate a preference for cash over digital payments in transactions among a significant proportion of the respondents. The determinant analysis further identified several factors influencing cash usage in physical stores, including education, employment status, and the number of bank accounts. Furthermore, this study identified attitudes toward behavior, subjective norms, and satisfaction as variables affecting the intention to continue using cash in Indonesian society.
Aglaonema farming holds significant economic potential, but challenges in knowledge management often hinder farmers' productivity. Knowledge Management Systems (KMS) provide effective solutions for managing knowledge efficiently. This study aims to conduct a comparative analysis of KMS implementation for aglaonema farmers using a structured method and an object-oriented method with the Unified Modeling Language (UML). The research methodology includes identifying farmers' needs, developing systems using both approaches, conducting functionality testing, and performing a comparative analysis based on effectiveness, efficiency, and ease of use. The study's results indicate that the object-oriented approach with UML offers greater flexibility in development and adaptation to changing user needs. At the same time, the structured method provides stability within a well-defined system. User evaluations reveal a preference for UML-based systems, particularly in supporting dynamic knowledge access and integrating market price prediction features. The study concludes that the object-oriented approach with UML is more suitable for KMS development in agribusiness, where an adaptive and responsive system is essential.
Background: The competitiveness of Indonesia’s Muslim fashion industry requires evaluation through both internal efficiency and external strategic factors, yet existing approaches often assess these dimensions separately. Methods: This study develops a Weighted Efficiency Competitive Score (WECS) that integrates Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) to measure operational efficiency and Porter’s Five Forces to capture market pressures. The weights of α and β were calibrated through sensitivity analysis under the constraint α + β = 1, with values ranging from α = 0.3 to 0.7 and β = 0.7 to 0.3, using data from 23 Muslim fashion businesses in Jakarta. Results: The analysis identified α = 0.6 and β = 0.4 as the most stable configuration, and only 30% of firms achieved both high efficiency and strong market positioning. Strategic leaders such as JT. Co and PM. Co demonstrated that digital transformation, disciplined cost structures, and strong supply chain partnerships foster sustainable competitiveness. Conclusions: The WECS framework offers a replicable method to quantitatively integrate micro and macro determinants of competitiveness, contributes to the literature by bridging efficiency and strategy evaluation, and provides practical guidance for managers and policymakers to enhance decision support systems in strengthening the Muslim fashion industry’s global positioning.
