Do prihoda prvih diplomantov meteorologije v 50. letih 20. stoletja so imeli vodilno vlogo v uradnih meteoroloških službah na Slovenskem geografi. Njihov prispevek k razvoju teh služb ter strokovno in znanstveno delo na področju klimatologije in meteorologije je prikazan v drugem delu prispevka. V prvem delu pa je osvetljen položaj klimatskih in meteoroloških vsebin v študiju geografije na Univerzi v Ljubljani od njene ustanovitve leta 1919 do današnjih dni, saj so bili vsi geografi, zaposleni v Zavodu za meteorologijo in geodinamiko po 1. svetovni vojni in Upravi hidrometeorološke službe in njenih naslednicah po 2. svetovni vojni, diplomanti Oddelka za geografijo Univerze v Ljubljani.
Zaradi velikih razlik v višini padavin med slovenskimi pokrajinami je kot pokazatelj njihove spremenljivosti v obdobju 1991–2020 uporabljena srednja relativna variabilnost. Letna variabilnost je analizirana za 174 padavinskih postaj, giblje se v razponu med 8 in 18 %. Letne padavine so najbolj variabilne v zahodni in severozahodni Sloveniji. Sezonsko variabilnost smo prikazali za 37 reprezentativnih postaj. Najbolj spremenljive so zimske padavine s srednjo relativno variabilnostjo okoli 40 %, kar je posledica sprememb sredozemske ciklogeneze. V ostalih letnih časih je variabilnost med 20 in 25 %.
The monograph (‘"We're not giving up!" Ivan Gams and Slovenian Geography’) is dedicated to the centenary of the birth of the geographer academician Ivan Gams and provides a comprehensive and detailed account of his professional and scientific achievements. The monograph is divided into four thematic sections. The first, entitled ‘Ivan Gams - life and work’, presents in five contributions Gams's life and the full range of his scientific and professional work. The second section, entitled ‘Gams' contribution to the understanding of geomorphology and karst’, in three contributions presents Gams' activities in the field of karstology and geomorphology. The third section, entitled ‘Ivan Gams as a physical geographer’, also in three contributions, highlights the importance of Ivan Gams in other areas of physical geography, such as soil geography, climate geography and water geography. The fourth section, entitled ‘Ivan Gams' contribution to social and regional geography and beyond’, also has three contributions and highlights the importance of Ivan Gams in fields not directly related to physical geography. V prispevku je predstavljena podnebna tipizacije Slovenije za klimatološko obdobje 1991–2020. Izhodišče za členitev je bila Köppen-Geigerjeva klasifikacija, ki pa je pregroba za prikaz vseh podnebnih specifik Slovenije. Z upoštevanjem dodatnih temperaturnih in padavinskih kriterijev smo slovensko podnebje razčlenili na štiri osnovne tipe z devetimi podtipi: zmerno sredozemsko (obalno in zaledno), zmerno celinsko (severovzhodne, vzhodne in jugovzhodne ter osrednje Slovenije), gorsko (višjega in nižjega gorskega sveta) in podgorsko podnebje (zelo vlažno in vlažno).
In this study, air temperature and precipitation seasonality and their correlation with large-scale atmospheric circulations over the Sava River Basin (SRB), i.e., over the areas of Slovenia, Croatia, and Serbia, are analyzed. We used daily air temperature and precipitation measurements from 12 meteorological stations for the period from 1981 to 2010. In addition, mean (Ta), maximum (Tmax), and minimum (Tmin) daily temperatures and daily precipitation (P) were included in the analysis. Temperature values were correlated with atmospheric circulation patterns (ACPs), i.e., daily indices Arctic Oscillation (AO), North Atlantic Oscillation (NAO), and Mediterranean Oscillation (MO) for the same study period. The daily air temperature and precipitation data were obtained from European Climate Assessment & Dataset (ECA&D). The results generally show increasing trends in air temperatures, mainly during the spring and summer seasons, but also non-significant trends for precipitation. Moreover, the correlation results show no or weak influence of ACPs on seasonal air temperatures and precipitation, but the dominant effects differ by ACP type as well as at different seasonal levels. Among the selected ACPs, MO proved to be the most significant for the Sava River Basin.
Based on selected parameters, this paper aims to assess the physical-chemical water quality (PCWQ) of the Sava River in a part of the streamflow through Serbia, for the period 1997–2016. The spatio-temporal variations of surface water quality were determined by using One Way ANOVA, Pearson Correlation Index (PCI), Principal Component Analysis (PCA) and Confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). Water quality was assessed according to national and international water quality criteria. The parameter values are mostly within the permitted limits, however, on few stations, they were found to exceed the criteria levels. Better water quality was registered during the colder periods of the year. Also, better water quality was registered at SSt Šabac compared to SSt Jamena and SSt Ostružnica. PCI analysis shows a negative correlation between the T and DO and a positive correlation between the EC and PO4-P. The PCA defined four main components that determine the greatest impact on the temporal change of water quality. These are seasonal factors, eutrophication, sediment pollution and organic pollution. As shown in the algorithm results, as long as the covariance curve is included in the four factors, no related issues are detected in the goodness of fit of reflective indicators and interior and external quality is reported with excellence. The orthogonal model, thus, stands. The seasonality factor was dominant but it has been established that the pressures in the Sava River Basin exist, and there are most pronounced through the point sources of pollution.

Območje Jezerskega so v času pleistocena bistveno preoblikovale poledenitve. Dosedanje interpretacije obsega poledenitve, ki sta jih podala Lucerna in Meze, navajajo, da sta se ledenika obeh kočen združila v enoten ledeniški jezik, ki je polzel nižje po dolini. Glavni namen naše raziskave je obsegal analizo geomorfoloških oblik na območju Jezerskega s poudarkom na sledovih poledenitve. Metode interpretacije največjega obsega poledenitve, ki smo jih uporabili, so temeljile na podrobni morfografski analizi območja in na morfostrukturni analizi izdankov ledeniških akumulacij. Naši rezultati zavračajo predhodno interpretacijo obsega poledenitve, saj v okviru sistematičnega kartiranja sledov poledenitve nismo mogli potrditi njihovih dokazov o takšnem obsegu ledenika. Ledenika obeh kočen sta polzela do Jezerske kotlinice, kjer so ohranjene tudi najnižje ledeniške akumulacije. Njun obseg ni bil tolikšen, da bi se združevala ali polzela nižje po kotlinici oziroma dolini.
The paper presents the development of European and Slovenian geography at the time of the great geographical discoveries between the 15th and the end of the 18th century. During this period geographical horizons were remarkably widened, and a huge amount of information about the world was gathered which prompted the need for new ways of processing and displaying the knowledge of the Earth’s surface. During this time, the number of cartographic, horographic and topographic illustrations of today’s Slovenian territory increased. Some personages who contributed to the progress of European science and to better knowledge of the world lived in Slovenia or originated from this territory.
This paper presents the results of a study of thermal behaviour of different land cover types in the Czech Republic and Slovenia. A hand-held thermal camera, Fluke Ti55, was used for data collection. Variation in the values of the surface temperature characteristics reflects the geographically dissimilar spaces. The investigation demonstrated impact of dense green vegetation and water bodies on the balanced thermal behaviour of landscapes in both countries. Thus, they appear to be cold spots with the lowest values. The most obvious variation in surface temperature is associated with artificial areas and bare surfaces. They usually represent hot spots in the landscape. In both countries similar thermal behaviour was found in artificial land cover types as opposed to agricultural land cover types.
This article presents the findings from measurements of winter minimum temperatures taken over a period of several years in the high mountain karst depression of Valoviti Do on the Durmitor massif (Montenegro), and compares them with temperatures measured in the network of official stations operated by the Montenegro Hydrometeorological Institute. We took into consideration meteorological stations that are located in the coldest sites of Montenegro. The results of the measurements showed that winter minimum temperatures in high mountain depressions of Montenegro are considerably lower than the temperatures measured in the framework of the national network of meteorological stations, which are rarely located in the mountain environment. In the course of taking measurements in five nonconsecutive winter seasons in the period from 2007 to 2015 we also measured the lowest temperature recorded to date in Montenegro, -40 °C.
V prispevku je prikazana zgodovina geografije v srednjem veku s pomočjo spoznanj iz domače in tuje strokovne literature. Srednji vek ni enotno obdobje v razvoju geografije. Zgodnjega označuje zaton antičnih tradicij v krščanskem delu Evrope, vendar prevzem in nadgradnjo le-teh v arabskem svetu. V visokem srednjem veku so bila arabska spoznanja med osnovami za geografsko in kartografsko renesanso ter za razvoj v naslednjih stoletjih.

Classical findings, both theoretical and methodological, are the basis which has supported the development of this discipline throughout the following centuries. The broader area of the present-day Slovenian territory was poorly known in Classical antiquity, in particular the inland parts of the countries around the Northern Adriatic Sea.

V prispevku so prikazane osnovne topoklimatske značilnosti Jezerskega, ki so rezultat splošnih podnebnih potez in specifičnih lokalnih razmer. Prostorsko najbolj razširjene topoklimatske enote so posledica razlik v osončenosti ter součinkovanja lokalnih reliefnih danosti in rabe tal. Prikazane so na pregledni topoklimatski karti v merilu 1 : 25.000.
Prispevek predstavlja življenje in delo Alexandra Supana, geografa slovenskega rodu ter njegov vpliv na svetovno in slovensko geografijo. Sodil je med pomembnejše geografe druge polovice 19. in začetka 20. stoletja. Njegovo znanstveno delo je potekalo, za razliko od geografov, delujočih na Slovenskem, v skladu s takratnimi modernimi usmeritvami. Kariero je zgradil na tujem, začel pa jo je v Ljubljani. Zaradi tega in njegovega rodu ga lahko upravičeno uvrščamo med pomembnejše člene zgodovine moderne geografije na Slovenskem.
