A historical review of the creation of a system for expert evaluation of performance properties of petroleum products is presented, and Professor K. K. Papok’s leading role in its creation and development is shown. The current status and potential paths of development of evaluation methods for testing of petroleum products are discussed.
The historical preconditions for development of chemmotology as a science of efficient use of fuels, lubricants, and technical fluids are discussed. The methodological principles and key concepts of chemmotology are enunciated. The course of development of these principles and concepts over the past 50 years is shown based on analysis of the interrelations of the components of the technology-fuels-lubricants-utilization system. Views on future prospects of chemmotology are elucidated.
Based on analysis of current normative-technical documents, we show that the quality requirements of aviation fuels, especially supersonic aircraft fuels, have been declining in the Russian Federation since 2006. The need for improvement in requirements for thermooxidative stability of domestic fuels determined under dynamic conditions, and for insertion of appropriate changes to the Technical Rules of Customs Union and Fuel Standard is shown. It is proposed to remove T-6 and T-8 V fuels from the list of products to which the technical Rules of the Customs Union apply, delete change No. 2 to GOST 12308, conduct research on validation of standards for wear-resistance properties of jet fuels, and insert the parameter “wear-spot diameter” as determined in conformity with GOST 53715 into normative-technical documents.
This article describes the development of the modern paradigm of chemmotology as a set of concepts, definitions, and terms and shows the importance of modern chemmotological terminology.
A new method of determination of chemical stability of automobile gasolines based on the proportion of absorbed oxygen (PAO) is proposed. Storage test results are used to formulate the chemical stability requirements for prolonged gasoline storage and to determine the standard PAO values.
In marking the 100 th anniversary of the birth of K. K. Papok, the main initiator of separation of chemmotology into an independent applied science, it is useful to analyze the path that this science took 40 plus years ago in the pages of the journal where the first article [1] on chemmotology was published.
