The global shift toward sustainable transportation has raised the profile of cycling. Yet cycling safety still faces persistent challenges (e.g., fragmented governance, inequitable infrastructure, scarce research) that are often overshadowed by motorized transport agendas. This paper presents findings from a workshop held at the 12th International Cycling Safety Conference (ICSC2024) in Imabari, Japan, which brought together an interdisciplinary group of 31 experts (researchers, practitioners, and policymakers) to explore prospective research directions for cycling safety over the next two decades. Drawing on submitted abstracts, group dialogues, and post-event reflections, we used participatory methods, speculative exercises, and collaborative discussions to conduct a thematic analysis that organized key factors into five domains: society, policy, infrastructure, vehicles, and road users. This framework supports a long-term research agenda to address the interconnected challenges of cycling safety. Key priorities include: (i) behavioral and societal studies to make cycling safer and more appealing for diverse users; (ii) development of AI-enabled safety technologies; (iii) establishment of international infrastructure standards; and (iv) tools to anticipate risks linked to emerging vehicle technologies. Additional directions involve the use of eXtended Reality (XR) for behavioral research, multimodal integration, and the ethical and privacy dimensions of data collection. Practically, the findings highlight the importance of participatory and multidisciplinary approaches for tackling real-world safety issues and guiding future research.
Japan has a long-standing and widespread cycling culture, but empirical data on cyclists' risk-related behaviors are still relatively scarce. In particular, little is known about how Japanese cyclists perceive risk, comply with traffic rules, and experience cycling crashes compared with riders in other regions. Generating this type of comparative evidence may help to better situate the Japanese case within global cycling safety trends and to guide future preventive measures. Objective: This study aims to bridge this gap by comparing self-reported traffic violations, errors, and positive behaviors, risk perception, acceptance, and use of technology while riding, and crashes between Japanese cyclists and an international sample of cyclists across five continents. Method: A total of 11,276 cyclists (691 Japanese, 10,585 from other countries across five continents) completed an online questionnaire on cycling safety-related variables (Cycling Behavior Questionnaire – CBQ, Risk Perception and Regulation Scale – RPRS, Technology Affinity Scale – TAEG, and self-reported cycling patterns and safety incidents). Group comparisons were conducted using MANCOVA adjusting for age and exposure, complemented by Welch's robust tests for individual between-group comparisons. Results: The most common risky behaviors among Japanese cyclists were running red lights and riding against traffic flow, while signal misunderstanding and distracted bumps were least frequent. Compared to global trends, Japanese cyclists reported lower engagement in technological distractions, such as mobile phone or headphone use. However, they also showed a comparatively lower helmet use and risk perception. Despite reporting fewer crashes, their reduced adoption of protective measures and avoidance-related behaviors suggests potential safety concerns. Conclusion and implications: These findings suggest that Japanese cycling behavior reflects both strengths and areas for improvement, likely shaped by cultural factors. While strong adherence to traffic norms and minimal engagement with technological distractions may contribute to fewer crashes, gaps in passive safety practices and positive behavioral habits emerge as key concerns. These insights can inform road safety policies and cycling promotion strategies in Japan and beyond.
As cycling gains traction as a sustainable transport mode, enhancing cyclists' safety has become a key priority within European policy. Among the various developments introduced, Advanced Cyclist Assistance Systems (ACAS) stand out as a promising technological innovation. However, research on their perceived value and adoption remains limited, particularly regarding user preferences and demographic differences. Aim: This study aimed to examine European cyclists' evaluation of five ACAS types and their core functional features, as well as to explore demographic differences, particularly in relation to cyclists' gender and age. Method: This study used the data provided by 6167 cyclists (47.4% females; 51.5% males; 1.1% others) from 19 European countries. Participants provided self-reported evaluations of five ACAS types (environmental monitoring, rider visibility enhancement, real-time information, crash prevention-assistance, and post-crash appliances) along with key features (safety contribution, reliability, ease of use, novelty, and everyday need). Results: Among ACAS types, visibility-enhancing systems (designed to increase cyclists' conspicuity) and environmental monitoring technologies received the highest valuations, while real-time information systems were rated the lowest. Safety contribution was the most highly valued attribute across all ACAS features. Additionally, gender differences were observed, with female cyclists prioritizing visibility and safety-related aspects. In contrast, male cyclists –while also favoring visibility-improving ACAS– placed greater emphasis on ease of use as a core feature. Conclusion: These findings highlight the importance of user-centered ACAS design and suggest that broader adoption may depend on improving system reliability, regulatory frameworks, and alignment with cyclists' needs and attitudinal factors. Future research should explore real-world ACAS implementation and long-term adoption trends to support safer and more technologically integrated cycling environments.
Population aging raises health and mobility issues that affect daily functioning and well-being. Cycling is a feasible, low-impact option in later life, but evidence on its physical and mental health effects in older adults remains fragmented. Aim This literature review study aimed to synthesize empirical evidence on health-related quality of life (HRQoL) outcomes of cycling among adults aged ≥65 years, with specific attention to physical and mental health, and to document reported risks or vulnerabilities. Methods Systematic searches were conducted in PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science (1990–2025) following PRISMA procedures. Inclusion was restricted to peer-reviewed journal articles in English reporting real-world cycling exposure among older adults. Study quality was appraised using design-appropriate tools (NOS, JBI, AMSTAR-2, CASP). Outcomes were grouped as physical health, mental health, and risks/vulnerabilities. Results Twenty-eight studies met eligibility. Most were quantitative and cross-sectional, with limited longitudinal or intervention designs, and were predominantly conducted in high-income settings. Sixteen studies reported physical health outcomes (e.g., better mobility, balance/leg strength, cardiometabolic markers), eleven addressed mental/psychosocial health (e.g., lower distress, higher life satisfaction and overall mental HRQoL; mixed findings for cognition/anxiety), and eight reported risks or vulnerabilities (e.g., greater injury severity with age, skill limitations in specific maneuvers, higher inhaled NO2 relative to some modes, and safety/infrastructure concerns). Some studies reported multiple domains, leading to overlaps in these counts. Measurement approaches varied across studies. Conclusion Cycling in later life shows associations with improved functional capacity and selected mental health indicators, while participation and outcomes depend on safety perceptions, infrastructure, and demographic factors. Evidence would clearly benefit from further longitudinal and intervention studies, standardized outcome measures, and equity-focused analyses to inform age-friendly infrastructure, skills programs, and inclusive access to cycling.
Introduction: While the role of personality in shaping behavior and safety has been widely documented across domains, its study among cyclists has remained limited. Traditional trait-based approaches may also fall short in predicting real behaviors, which highlights the need to explore additional factors. Aims: This research examined associations between personality traits, cycling behaviors, and self-reported crashes, and tested the predictive role of sensation seeking (SS), an emerging construct in cycling safety, on risky and protective behaviors. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted with 5,778 cyclists from 17 countries (58% male, 41% female, 1% non-binary; M = 34 years). Participants completed an online questionnaire assessing personality, cycling behaviors, and self-reported crashes over five years. Results: Most personality traits showed significant associations with risky behaviors, but the strongest correlations involved SS. Path analyses indicated that high sensation seekers were more likely to engage in road conflicts. SS also covaried with risk perception, which predicted both risky and protective behaviors. Cyclists reporting crashes scored higher on SS and openness, and lower on agreeableness. Conclusion: The findings suggest that personality traits are related to self-reported cycling safety outcomes, with SS showing the clearest links to risky behaviors, road conflicts, and crash involvement. The observed covariance between SS and risk perception also supports considering both factors jointly when examining cycling safety.
Although cycling is widely renowned for its benefits to transport sustainability and individual health, the impact of cycling initiation age on cycling behaviours and safety outcomes remains underexplored in the scientific literature. The present study aimed to investigate the relationship between the age of initiation and self-reported cycling behaviours, safety skills and willingness to increase cycling participation. For this purpose, we used the data provided by 1,741 cyclists from five Balkan countries. Overall, no significant differences in onset ages were found between male and female riders. Regarding self-reported cycling behaviour, individuals who started cycling at an earlier age were less prone to unintentional risky behaviours and consistently reported better knowledge of traffic rules. Notably, earlier starters are those who currently engage in longer and more sustained cycling trips. However, they were also less likely to wear a helmet and more likely to engage with connected devices while cycling. This suggests that while the relationship between cycling onset ages and subsequent riding outcomes is relatively clear, it is neither tautological nor linear, highlighting the ongoing need for safety literacy initiatives. On a practical level, these findings underline the need for strategies that promote early cycling engagement while fostering sustained growth in active mobility and safer cycling practices.
This study aimed to psychometrically validate the Night Drive Questionnaire (NDQ), a new tool designed to assess self-reported far vision quality and difficulties related to night driving. Additionally, we evaluated the questionnaire's potential for detecting and characterizing night myopia at an early stage. A total of 115 drivers, aged between 18 and 63 years (53% female), who regularly drove at night, completed the Night Drive Questionnaire (NDQ). Participants also had their refraction shift (night myopia) and visual acuity shift measured. Both refraction and visual acuity shift were calculated as the difference between the mesopic (low light) and photopic (normal light) measurements. We evaluated the 1) psychometric qualities through exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses, and 2) concurrent validity through correlations (Spearman) between the NDQ factors and night myopia and standard visual acuity shift and comparisons (Welch) between age groups, sexes, and night myopia levels. The NDQ displayed the best psychometric properties with a four-factor adjusted model, which includes: F1 - Quality of Far Vision, F2 - Difficulties in perceiving with central vision, F3 - Difficulties in perceiving with peripheral vision, and F4 - Difficulties in perceiving with the interaction of central and peripheral vision. This model demonstrated acceptable validity, consistency, and reliability indexes. Males compared to females reported fewer difficulties perceiving with central and peripheral vision and the combination of both (all p ≤ 0.011). There were no significant differences in driving difficulties based on age (all p ≥ 0.252) or night myopia groups (all p ≥ 0.242). Additionally, there were non-significant correlations between the factors and either night myopia or visual acuity shift (all p ≥ 0.092). In summary, the results indicate that the NDQ is a valid and reliable tool for measuring self-reported quality of far vision and the visual-related difficulties experienced during night driving, whether related to central, peripheral, or mixed vision. However, it is not effective in detecting or characterizing night myopia. Future studies should assess whether the NDQ is valid for identifying other visual function parameters that are more directly linked to night driving challenges.
Cycling anger is a relevant factor for understanding riders’ crash involvement, yet few instruments are available to assess cyclists’ anger expression across cultural contexts. Aim: This study examines the cross-cultural validity of the Cycling Anger Expression inventory (CAX) in an international sample of cyclists and explores how anger expression relates to traffic violations and cycling crashes. Method: Data were obtained from 5,778 cyclists from 17 countries across three regions (Europe, Latin America, and Asia). Participants completed an online survey including the 13-item CAX, sociodemographic and cycling-related variables, and self-reported indicators of traffic violations and crash involvement. Exploratory (EFA) and confirmatory (CFA) factor analyses, structural equation modeling (SEM), and multi-group structural equation modeling (MGSEM) were used to competitively test the CAX measurement model under different theoretical specifications. Results: The three-factor CAX showed good overall fit and satisfactory item loadings. Subscales demonstrated adequate internal consistency, with Cronbach’s alpha values at or above .80 across regions. Multi-group analyses supported configural and metric invariance across regions, suggesting a comparable factor structure and factor loadings between regions. Results suggested cross-country heterogeneity in the strength of these associations. Higher verbal and physical anger expression scores were consistently associated with more frequent traffic violations and crashes. Constructive anger expression showed weaker and less consistent links. Conclusion: The CAX is a psychometrically valid tool for assessing anger expression among cyclists across cultural contexts. Outwardly aggressive anger expression showed consistent associations with crashes and safety-related behaviors, supporting CAX’s usefulness for international cycling safety research and behavior-focused crash prevention.
Background: Public satisfaction with public transport infrastructure is a factor in the social legitimacy of infrastructure investment policies. Methods: This study analyzes the determinants of citizen satisfaction with toll roads in Mexico using a hierarchical regression model applied to a nationally representative survey. Results: Satisfaction does not depend primarily on sociodemographic factors, but rather on users’ overall perception of the quality, safety, and management of the road system as a whole. Furthermore, the pattern of predictors varies according to usage experience, suggesting that satisfaction is influenced by different factors among users and non-users of these facilities. These findings support a contextual evaluation model, in which citizen assessments are based more on systemic interpretations than on isolated experiences. Conclusions: The study has direct implications for public policy design and infrastructure management in contexts where the use of toll roads responds to structural constraints rather than voluntary decisions. Although the study focuses on the Mexican case, its contributions offer useful interpretative insights for other countries with similar challenges in terms of mobility and institutional legitimacy.
Young drivers represent a high-risk group worldwide, with their overrepresentation in road trauma placing substantial pressure on health and economic systems. Their crashes are often linked to risky driving behaviors, accentuating the need for reliable instruments to assess these patterns. The Behavior of Young Novice Drivers Scale (BYNDS) was developed to comprehensively assess multiple dimensions of risky driving behavior in drivers aged 17-29 years; however, it has not yet undergone cross-cultural validation. Aim: This study aimed to conduct a comprehensive cross-cultural validation of the BYNDS and examine differences in risky driving behaviors among young drivers from Low-and Middle-Income (LMIC) and High-Income (HIC) countries. Method: Data were collected from a cross-sectional sample of n = 3,989 young drivers aged M = 22.25 years, of whom 52 % were male and 48 % female. Participants completed the BYNDS, a 44-item behavioral questionnaire administered across 12 countries (48.6 % LMICs; 51.4 % HICs) spanning five continents. Results: The findings indicate that the BYNDS supports a five-factor structure with good fit indices, strong factor loadings, and acceptable reliability, and invariance between countries of different income levels. Furthermore, the validated BYNDS-42 (comprising 42 items distributed across five factors) also showed the ability to distinguish between drivers with and without self-reported crashes or traffic fines. Conclusion: This study provides robust evidence supporting the cross-cultural validity and reli-ability of the BYNDS, reinforcing its value as a tool for assessing young driver behavior. These findings offer empirically grounded insights that can inform behavioral interventions aimed at improving young drivers' road safety.
To improve traffic safety at the entrance of highway tunnels, a comparative analysis of the traffic environment inside and outside the tunnel was conducted, and an improvement scheme based on “linear visual guiding” was developed by considering the human factors. Before and after the improvement of nine experimental tunnels, two batches of vehicle experiments were conducted to analyze the improvement effect of linear guiding scheme on traffic safety. The results show that the linear guiding scheme warns drivers and enables them to make preparations to enter the tunnel earlier. After improvement, the starting position for deceleration (SPD) was 61% earlier and the length of the deceleration section (LDS) has increased by 42%; the starting position for trajectory change (SPTC) was 153% earlier and the length of the trajectory change section (LTCS) has increased by 44%. The improved deceleration and trajectory change are earlier and smoother, and the dramatic changes in speed and trajectory in the tunnel entrance are resolved. When entering the tunnel, drivers sequentially complete deceleration, vehicle trajectory adjustment, and visual adaptation to black-hole effect, disperses driving tasks, reducing the coupling of driving risks. And use linear guiding facilities to enhance the local brightness of the tunnel, enhancing the driver’s visual perception ability in the black-hole effect area. Linear guiding scheme has good results during day, night, and fog, and is able to improve traffic safety at tunnel entrances in all-weather and multiple time periods.
Promoting public transport is widely regarded as a key strategy for advancing sustainability. However, concerns about women's safety continue to pose a significant barrier to its regular use. A growing number of studies have highlighted the vulnerability of female commuters to harassment and crime, yet there is limited evidence on how these experiences -and the fears they generate- translate into changes in travel behavior. This knowledge gap makes it difficult to develop evidence-based interventions. Accordingly, this study examined the interrelations between sexual harassment, fear of crime, and travel-related behavioral adaptations among female public transport users in Spain. The analysis was based on a cross-sectional sample of 720 female public transport commuters. The average age of participants was 29 years. They responded to an e-survey addressing commuting patterns, perceptions of safety, and behavioral responses. Our results suggest that both direct and indirect experiences of harassment are consistently associated with higher levels of fear of crime, which in turn influence changes in travel behavior. Specifically, fear of crime was found to partially mediate the relationship between harassment and travel-related adaptations. These findings provide further insight into how psychological and contextual factors shape women's use of public transport, and highlight the need to address not only actual incidents but also the broader perception of insecurity.
Introduction: Public health campaigns have begun to employ various emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) and Big Data for their design, implementation, and evaluation. These technologies offer new opportunities to enhance the effectiveness of health communication strategies by enabling more precise audience segmentation, personalized messaging, and real-time impact assessment. However, despite their potential, their application in public health campaigns remains a relatively new field of study. This systematic review aims to identify and analyze the scientific literature that examines the role of these tools in optimizing communication strategies aimed at promoting healthy behaviors and attitudes among the population. Methods: Following the PRISMA methodology, 129 potentially relevant articles were initially identified from the search in the WOS, Scopus and PubMed databases. However, only 18 met the established inclusion criteria. Results: We identified a scarcity of scientific articles focused on presenting findings on the application of emerging technologies in public health campaigns. Most of the research focused on the use of these tools for audience segmentation and impact assessment, while their use in campaign design was a minority. Conclusions: This study supports the usefulness of the application of these technologies at any stage of the campaign implementation process, and presents some limitations that can help optimize this approach and improve the reach and effectiveness of public health communication strategies.
As cycling grows in popularity as a sustainable transport mode in Europe, cyclist safety has become a priority. Advanced Cyclist Assistance Systems (ACAS), inspired by Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), offer potential safety improvements but remain underexplored. This study examines ACAS acceptance among 5,991 cyclists from 19 European countries, focusing on public perceptions and adoption drivers. Participants evaluated various ACAS types-crash prevention, visibility enhancement, environmental monitoring, and post-crash assistance-based on safety, usability, and reliability. Acceptance varied across countries, with higher rates in areas with strong cycling infrastructure. Safety and reliability were universally valued, though gender differences emerged: women prioritised safety and visibility, while men favoured usability and added features. The findings highlight the importance of infrastructure, reliable technology, and awareness efforts to promote adoption. Policymakers and developers can use these insights to tailor ACAS innovations, ultimately enhancing cycling safety and supporting the broader development of smart, cyclist-focused technologies.
Population aging is a macrosocial trend with growing implications for mobility and public health. In the coming decades, many countries are expected to experience a marked increase in the average age of their populations, raising new challenges for healthcare and mobility systems. The promotion of active mobility, widely supported in the literature for its role in maintaining health in later life, has gained visibility. However, it remains unclear whether existing digital tools, such as lifestyle apps, effectively contribute to this goal. Methods: This study examined the effectiveness of applications and tools designed to promote walking among older adults through a systematic literature review, complemented by additional sources, including sentiment analysis of user reviews. Results: Many walking apps offer features such as step tracking and personalization, but few address both physical activity and social isolation simultaneously. Available evidence suggests potential benefits in gait quality, balance, and reduced sedentary behavior in specific contexts. User feedback also points to high satisfaction, especially with simple and accessible interfaces. However, the scientific literature supporting these outcomes remains limited in scope and generalizability. Conclusion and practical insights: This multi-source review suggests that walking apps may support more active lifestyles among older adults, though current evidence is not yet conclusive. Future app development should prioritize usability and incorporate features that address both physical and social well-being, while ensuring accessibility and affordability for a broader range of users.
While urban cycling is gaining ground worldwide as an active and sustainable mode of transport, various safety-related risks continue to threaten cyclists. In this regard, some studies suggest that cycling risk-related outcomes could be closely linked to development indicators beyond cycling infrastructure, including health, income, and welfare indices. This study aimed to analyze the relationships between different country-level development indicators (e.g., income level, life expectancy, internet access, healthcare coverage, and national health expenditure) and cyclists’ behavioral and safety-related outcomes in 19 countries with diverse socio-economic backgrounds. The findings of this multinational study indicate that country-level development indicators are significantly and consistently related to both cycling safety behaviors and crash records, with the situation being more pronounced in developing (LMIC) countries. Overall, these differences highlight (although not linearly) the inequity and the high vulnerability faced by cyclists in countries with low or medium levels of economic development and point to the need for targeted interventions in areas such as information access, healthcare, and road safety training. Such measures could support the promotion of cycling and other active transport modes from a user-centered perspective. All in all, this may help multidimensionally enhance the promotion of the bicycle as a sustainable means of transport, fostering increased safety and equity among countries.
Background: The driver's license point-based system is a preventive measure for penalizing offenses committed by drivers with the aim of reducing road accidents, which has been applied in a large number of countries to date. The aim of this systematic review was to examine a set of studies that analyze the effectiveness of point-based licensing in relation to the reduction of road accidents, as well as its impact on other variables documented in the scientific literature. Method: In this systematic review and meta-analysis, we searched PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science for reports published between date of database inception and September 2023. The review process was conducted following the PRISMA recommendations and requirements. This procedure acquired 26 items that met the eligibility requirements of the study. Results: It is noted that point-based driving licenses are beneficial for road safety as they discourage drivers from committing infractions or risky behaviors and, consequently, contribute significantly to reducing road accident rates in the regions where they are applied. Specifically, meta-analysis indicate that point-based driving license reduced, as an overall, around 21% the negative outcomes related to traffic, 10% fatalities, and 9% non-fatal injuries. In addition, it is identified that users value the measure positively, and perceive that its purpose is to raise awareness and improve road safety, rather than its sanctioning or collecting role. Conclusions: The findings support the implementation and expansion of the point-based license system in more countries around the world as a valuable strategy to reduce traffic accidents and promote a safer driving culture. This study explores the slack effect of highway tunnel entrances and exits and analyses its impact on traffic safety. Forty-five drivers were recruited to conduct vehicle experiments and to collect eye movement data while driving in highway tunnels. Analyze the variation patterns of various indicators in different areas of the tunnel, and explore the relationships among the light environment, visual adaptation, visual search and attention distribution. The study shows that at the tunnel exit during the day and at the tunnel entrance at night, the illuminance changes dramatically and the white-hole effect occurs. In the area affected by the white-hole effect, the risk of accidents is high, but the fixation frequency in the safety gaze areas (PSGA) is low, and the driver’s attention is abnormally reduced. When the traffic environment transitions from poor to good, there is a slack effect due to optimistic psychological expectations, where drivers are psychologically relaxed and tend to ignore driving risks. Compared to open roads (during the day), tunnels are dim and enclosed, with a higher driving load and a negative driving attitude. When the driver sees the tunnel exit, they feel relaxed due to the slack effect, which triggers abnormal phenomena such as abnormal decrease in attention and abnormal acceleration. Similarly, the traffic environment at the tunnel entrance at night transitions from poor to good, and there is also a certain degree of slack effect. There is a concomitant phenomenon of slack effect and white hole effect, and the combination of abnormal decrease in attention (slack effect) and visual interference (white-hole effect) can seriously threaten tunnel traffic safety.
The Sensation Seeking in Cycling (SSC) scale represents the first scale developed specifically to measure this risk-related personality trait in the context of urban cycling. It operationalizes the tendency to pursue novel or intense experiences while riding, addressing variance that generic sensation-seeking measures overlook in specific traffic settings. This Data in Brief (DiB) article appends and describes an extensive dataset covering the cross-cultural application of the SSC scale, presented alongside cyclists' demographic and individual features, as well as self-reported riding behavioral indicators. This dataset was collected using a structured self-report questionnaire, with responses from 5108 participants across 17 countries on four continents, covering diverse riding contexts, city sizes, cycling frequencies, and trip purposes. This paper presents descriptive and comparative analyses, with the goal of enabling further researchers to conduct their own analyses, rather than offering precise interpretations or inferences about the data.
Las campañas institucionales de comunicación social son una importante herramienta para concienciar a la población sobre distintas problemáticas sociales, conductas y factores de riesgo. Particularmente sobre seguridad vial, se han desarrollado de forma constante en España desde los años 60, y dada su importancia desde una perspectiva epidemiológica, las referentes al riesgo del consumo de alcohol, drogas y fármacos ha sido constante hasta la actualidad. En este contexto, este estudio tiene como objetivo analizar la evolución del mensaje y las estrategias comunicativas de las campañas sobre el consumo de sustancias en la conducción en España. Se emplea una metodología basada en un exhaustivo visionado de todos los spots históricos difundidos por la Dirección General de Tráfico y emitidos a nivel nacional, registrando y evaluando el contenido de estas piezas comunicativas, incluyendo eslóganes y tratamiento del tono del mensaje, con el objetivo de identificar patrones en el enfoque comunicativo. Se observa una transformación significativa en la naturaleza de los mensajes a lo largo de los años, iniciando con campañas que adoptaron un tono predominantemente informativo y educativo para evolucionar, con el paso de los años, a un aumento del impacto, mediante la intensidad y realismo de los mensajes y las imágenes emitidas y, más recientemente, a desarrollarse una tendencia hacia estrategias de comunicación más diversificadas y heterogéneas. Se identifican ciertos déficits en el contenido de los anuncios de tráfico sobre el consumo de alcohol, drogas y/o psicofármacos, para lo que se realizan propuestas para el desarrollo de futuras campañas.
