BACKGROUND: Health information disorders (HIDs) are becoming increasingly prevalent and can have detrimental effects on individuals and society. This study aimed to identify the types and origins of HIDs through a qualitative content analysis of interviews. MATERIALS AND METHODS: This study was conducted with a qualitative method through contractual content analysis. The 26 participants were health professionals, medical librarians and information specialists, patients, and media members in the field of health. The accuracy and robustness of the data were ensured by the triangulation technique using multiple sources and methods in data extraction, interviews with different groups, reminders, and domains. RESULTS: For HIDs types, four main categories and 12 subcategories emerged: sender (includes public, patients, specialists, and media professionals); message or content (includes misinformation, disinformation, malinformation, pseudo-information); channel (type of media and information dissemination); and receiver (includes literacy, communicative language, reading comprehension). The origins of HIDs have emerged into four main categories and 12 subcategories: sender (includes purpose and motivation, educational issues, psychological issues); message or content (includes content validity, content type); channel (includes media, access issues, type and manner of information dissemination); and receiver (includes educational issues, psychological issues, personal issues, social issues). CONCLUSION: It seems for a clear health communication process without any information disorder, it is necessary for the situation of each component of this process to include the sender, the content, the channel, and the receiver is properly considered and executed to ensure the accurate and intended transfer of health information.
Background: Evaluation of scientific productions to attract, maintain, and promote faculty members is one of the necessary processes of academic societies and is of interest to policy makers in the field of higher education. This study aimed to provide a uniform and native framework for evaluating the scientific productions of researchers in the fields of science and health in Iran. Methods: The current research used the single-stage fuzzy Delphi technique and AHP. The research community comprised 50 top scientific experts and researchers from the country. The data collection tool was a researcher-made checklist obtained from the review of literature and laws and regulations of Iranian universities and research institutions. Results: Data analysis led to the identification, prioritization and weighting of eleven criteria and 124 items for the intended framework, which are, respectively, author’s authority (scientific leaders) (15 items); database used in calculating the index (3 items); Innovation and technological impact (18 items); Gaining rank in national and international festivals related to the specialized field (6 items); Citations (7 items); subject area (3 items); level of cooperation (15 items); Types of scientific productions (54 items); scientific age (3 items); Evaluating, refereeing and monitoring of research, technology and innovation activities (2 items) Author`s role and position (1 item). Conclusion: The final framework obtained for evaluating Iranian researchers has 11 criteria and 124 items that can be used to compile an author-centered and native scientometrics index that leads to the same evaluation of health and science researchers.
Background: The purpose of this scoping review is to identify the models of Health Information Disorders (HIDs), the components of these models, their study setting, and their designing approaches. Materials and Methods: In this study, PubMed, Web Of Science (WOS), Scopus, ProQuest, and Embase databases were searched to identify relevant articles. After screening the identified studies, 22 studies were selected. Data was extracted based on objectives and was combined and summarized by a narrative method. Results: The analysis of articles showed most of the included studies presented conceptual models or frameworks that provide a more structured and comprehensive view of a topic. The elements and components of the HID models were categorized into five main components, including information issues, communication issues, psychology issues, social issues and theories. Most studies employed, existing theories, evidence, or principles to design their approaches. The main setting of studies were COVID-19 and related topics such as vaccination. Conclusions: By synthesizing the HID models we tried to find the gap among types, components, designing approaches and setting of models. It seems we need some HID models based on contextual frameworks to understand deeply the way of being born, spread and death of HIDs in society. Also, future advancements in HID models should focus on other diseases rather than COVID-19 to provide a holistic approach in diverse healthcare landscapes.
The H-index has been investigated in various studies; this index has many strengths that have made it popular. However, it also has weaknesses, due to which other indicators have been developed. This study aims to identify the strengths and weaknesses of the H-index and provide the minimum set of necessary components for developing a comprehensive author-level index. In this systematic literature review, Scopus, PubMed, Web of Science, Emerald, and ProQuest databases were searched to identify relevant studies. From the number of 14,253 retrieved studies, after two stages of screening, 81 studies were selected according to the eligibility criteria for data extraction. The findings of the study led to the identification of 15 strengths in the three categories of Quality Features, Simplicity, and Suitability, and 13 weaknesses in the six categories of Publications, Citations, Academic Age, Author Credit Allocation, Variety of Fields, and mathematical calculation for H-index. Finally, 28 components were identified as the minimum set of necessary components to develop a comprehensive author-level index to help evaluate researchers more realistically and fairly. The minimum components that need to be considered in developing a comprehensive author-level index can be proposed as follows: Quality Features, Simplicity, Suitability, Publications, Citations, Academic Age, Author Credit Allocation, Variety of Fields, and mathematical calculation.
The services of medical libraries and information centers has changed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This study aims to identify the innovative services of medical libraries and information centers during the COVID-19 pandemic. In this scoping review, PubMed, Web of Science (WOS), Scopus, ProQuest, Library, Information Science & Technology Abstracts (LISTA) databases were searched to identify case studies and case series. After screening the identified studies, 18 studies were selected. The results showed that the main users of medical libraries and information centers during COVID-19 were health care providers and recipients, researchers, organizational staff, and ordinary library users. Innovative services during the COVID-19 were also provided in these libraries, including distance education services, virtual information services, virtual guidelines, providing information resources, and evidence-based response to treatment teams. To provide these new services, medical libraries used traditional, semi-traditional, and modern information and communication technologies such as telephone, email, online library platforms, e-learning, and social networks. Medical libraries and information centers changed the way they provide services in the face of the COVID-19 crisis. Analyzing the services provided during this period can provide a model for policymakers, and medical librarians and information professionals to improve their services. The information presented here can be used to inform library services during future, similarly critical situations.
Purpose: Knowledge management is not a new issue or concept. For hundreds of years, family business owners have been passing down their knowledge to their children. Professional masters teach their craft to their students with enthusiasm, and workers exchange ideas and knowledge in the workplace. In fact, it can be said that the concept of "knowledge is power" has evolved into the idea that "sharing knowledge is power" for quite some time. Based on this, the current research aims to investigate the exchange of knowledge among teachers participating in lesson study courses and its impact on innovative teaching in Khorramabad city. Method: This research is applied in terms of its purpose and uses descriptive-correlative methods for data collection and structural equations for analysis. The research population consists of 180 participants who took part in lesson study courses in Khorramabad city during the academic year 2021-2022. From this population, 118 participants were randomly selected as the statistical sample for the study, using the Karjesi and Morgan table. In order to gather respondents' opinions on knowledge exchange, the questionnaires from Ouakouak et al.'s research (2021) were utilized, and Alizadeh's questionnaire (2008) was employed to measure the variable of innovative teaching. Data analysis was conducted using SPSS and SmartPLS software. Findings: The analysis of the respondents' demographic information revealed that 95 (80.51%) of the respondents were women and 23 (19.41%) were men. In terms of educational qualifications,74 people (62.71%) had a bachelor's degree, 42 people (35.59%) had a master's degree, and 2 people (1.70%) had a doctorate degree. In terms of work experience, 65 people (55.09%) had less than 10 years of experience, 26 people (22.03%) had 11 to 20 years of experience, and 27 people (22.88%) had more than 21 years of experience. The analysis of the descriptive indices of the research variables revealed that the average scores for the receiver's openness to receive knowledge, receiver's openness to share knowledge, provider's knowledge sharing behavior, the receiver's knowledge utilization,and innovative teaching are 3.878, 3.725, 4.228, 3.975, and 4.384, respectively. The results of the structural equation modeling in the research indicated that the receiver's openness to receiving knowledge had a significant effect (0.292) on the provider's knowledge sharing behavior. The value of the t-statistic is 2.428. Therefore, with 95% confidence, we can conclude that the receiver's openness to receiving has a positive and significant effect on the provider's knowledge-sharing behavior. The impact of the receiver's willingness to share knowledge on the provider's knowledge-sharing behavior has been measured at 0.407. The value of the t-statistic is 3.808. Therefore, with 95% confidence, it can be said that the acceptance rate of the receiver's openness to share knowledge has a positive and significant effect on the provider's knowledge-sharing behavior. The impact of the provider's knowledge-sharing behavior on the receiver's knowledge utilization is 0.504. The value of thet-statistic is 7.572. Therefore, with 95% confidence, it can be said that the provider's knowledge sharing behavior has a positive and significant impact on the receiver's knowledge utilization. The impact of the provider's knowledge-sharing behavior on innovative teaching is 0.397. The value of the t-statistic is 4.011. Therefore, with 95% confidence, we can conclude that the provider's knowledge sharing behavior has a positive and significant impact on innovative teaching. The impact of the receiver's utilization of knowledge on innovative teaching is 0.251. The value of the t-statistic is 2.489. Therefore, with 95% confidence, it can be concluded that the receiver's utilization of knowledge has a positive and significant impact on innovative teaching. Conclusion: The findings of this study confirmed the significance of knowledge exchange and innovative teaching. Policymakers in the country's education system should be aware that the shift from "discovery-based innovation" to "learning-based innovation" requires the creation of interactive environments for generating, sharing, and utilizing employee knowledge. This is an effective approach to achieving the objectives outlined in the fundamental transformation document and fostering quality and innovation in the educational system. One of these interactive environments is lesson study courses, which can enhance the innovative behavior of employees. In fact, employees, as producers and consumers of knowledge, facilitate the process of knowledge management and play an important role in the primary processes of knowledge, namely creation, sharing, and use. Employees are the human capital of the organization and the creators of its intellectual capital. Therefore, managers should not only encourage employees to acquire the knowledge needed for innovation, but also to share their knowledge with others.
Introduction: Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is one of the most common and costly gastrointestinal diseases which results in disturbances in the performance of intestines. In this study, the most important historical references of IBS were identified using spectroscopy method. Methods: This was a bibliometrics investigation carried out using Reference Publication Year Spectroscopy (RPYS) approach. Data gathering was carried out from the Web of Science database, and by searching for the term irritable bowel syndrome in the subject field. 13841 records and 320218 citations were retrieved and analyzed using the RPYS.exe software application. Results: The distribution of the number of references in the IBS documents was divided into four time periods: 1900-1950, 1951-1975, 1976-2000, and 2001-2015. The first group of highly-cited articles focused on the introduction of IBS, its diagnostic methods, and possible causes, and the second group focused on the pathophysiological and physiological aspects of the disease. The next group dealt with other aspects of IBS, including epidemiology, medicine, financial costs, and physiological and clinical factors, and the large number of citations in the fourth group was due to the type of review articles and their potential for receiving more citations. Conclusion: The results indicate that the articles compared to other resources have the greatest impact on the formation of the historical origin of the topics in the field of IBS, and the most highly cited resources follow the historical process of the disease.
Background and aim: Co-word analysis is a tool for depicting the scientific structure of outputs. Therefore, the aim of this study was to evaluate the co-word analysis in nursing science by examining the keywords of Master's and Doctoral dissertations in the Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery of Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences. Materials and methods: In this scientometric study used co-word analysis method, the research population included 473 master's and doctoral dissertations in the field of nursing in the Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery of Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences. Data were analyzed using Ravar, Gephi, UCINET and SPSS. Findings: The results showed that 902 keywords were used in the dissertations that the highest frequency of words in the nursing dissertations of Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences was related to the nurse (117), neonate (58), quality (53), respectively. Results associated with hierarchical clustering by Ward’s method led to the formation of seven clusters in this field: "Nursing Management, Community Health Nursing, Neonatal Nursing, Neonatal Intensive Care Units, Nursing Research Methodology, Community Health Nursing" and "Nursing Emergencies" so that cluster 6 (Community Health Nursing) and cluster 1 (Nursing Management) had the highest and lowest centrality among different clusters, respectively. Moreover, cluster 7 (Nursing Emergencies) and cluster 6 (Community Health Nursing) had the highest and lowest density among other clusters, respectively. Conclusion: In nursing research, the issues of quality, health and self-care play a central role, but the issues of stress, anxiety and mortality have not been considered in this field.
Introduction: Scientometric study is one of the efficient methods of academic evaluation in authentic databases. Hierarchical clustering is also a useful instrument in providing an overview of a studies in a field and understanding of its knowledge structure. Therefore, this study tries to explore the intellectual structure of the studies carried out in the field of gastric cancer. Methods: This study was carried out using co-word analysis and hierarchical clustering of scientometric methods with an analytical approach. The study population included keywords of articles indexed in Web of Science database in the field of stomach cancer from 1979 to 2019. The population included 58,709 records indexed on the Web of Science database from 1979 to 2019 and included 207,625 keyword extracted. Data were analyzed through strategic and dendrogram chart. Results: Findings related to hierarchical clustering by Ward method led to the formation of four clusters in this domain: Cell signaling in cancer, Oncogenes and cancer, Roll of cell cycle and check points in cancer, Reasons and diagnosis. The clusters 2 and 1 (Oncogenes and cancer and Cell signaling in cancer) had the highest and lowest concentration among the clusters, respectively. Besides, clusters 1 and 2 (Cell signaling in cancer and Oncogenes and cancer) had respectively the highest and lowest density among the clusters. Conclusion: Hierarchical clustering has the potential of providing a clear image of the academic structure of studies in the gastric cancer domain. The results of the analysis of articles in the field of gastric cancer that led to the identification of underdeveloped areas can be an academic basis for future researchers.
Purpose: The purpost of this research is to provide a theoretical model for educational planning in the field of Knowledge and Information Science (KIS) in Iran. To do so, while addressing the concepts of ecology and cybernetics theories and combining them with each other, a new approach called “Eco-cybernetics Appraoch” is introduced and explained. Method: This research was conducted using the documentary-analytical method. To gather the required information, a literature review of the cybernetics' and ecology's concepts and of the studies carried out into the future of KIS education was conducted. Findings: Eco-cybernetics approach to KIS education, like biological ecosystems, concerns simultaneously the environmental factors and pillars of education. Eco-cybernetics approach studies the interactive relationships between the pillars of KIS education and its environment. This approach regards the future of KIS education as a function of the interaction between the pillars of KIS education and its einvironment as well as its feedback and feed-forward systems. Originality/value: The attitudes put forward about the future of KIS can be divided into four groups. The first group includes a pessimistic approach to the future and a belief in the extinction and destruction scenario. The second group distinguishes between the "Library Science" and the "Information Science" and other new titles. They have warned the library science community against the pure optimism about their high share in the future jobs of the information society. In fact, they are concerned with the challenge of library science in its traditional concept and information science and other similar disciplines in its modern sense. The third group maintains that the path to the future passes through the past and present. In order to survive, KIS must focus on the intradisciplinary and extradisciplinary factors. In fact, this perspective refers to the progression and survival in a steady manner without major changes. The fourth group believes in a favorable future for KIS. They see planning and designing an education system aimed at educating the future generation students as the key to achieve this desirable future. The present research, for the first time, has addressed the Eco-Cybernetics approaches to the analysis of KIS education planning in Iran and can serve as a basis for the KIS education.
Background: The aim of the current study is to determine the Comparison of intellectual structure of International Journal of Preventive Medicine (IJPM) with Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) based on author keywords and index terms of Scopus database and the degree of compatibility among these two groups of keywords. Methods: This study was carried out using a co-word technique, which is one of the bibliometric methods. The study population consisted of 1104 articles published in IJPM and indexed in Scopus database. After retrieval the articles, data for co-word analyses was extracted using UCINET and VOSviewer software applications and centrality criteria. Then, the compatibility of author keywords and MeSH terms was examined by Jaccard's similarity index. Results: During the investigated years and among 2402 author keywords, on average, 561 author keywords (23.36%) were exact matches, 417 author keywords (17.36%) were partial matches, and 1424 author keywords (59.28%) were not matched with the terms contained in the index. Author keywords matching or not matching with index-term categories formed the largest portion of partial match keywords. Conclusions: The use of MeSH as a standard tool by medical journals for the selection of keywords in scientific publications could improve the visibility and retrieval of articles, and increase the number of citations and journals’ impact factor.
BACKGROUND:This study aimed to use social network analysis (SNA) indicators and clique analysis to investigate collaboration between different departments and research centers in Journal of Research in Medical Sciences (JRMS) in 2012-2016.MATERIALS AND METHODS:The study was a scientometric study using micro- and macro-indicators of SNA to investigate the performance of departments and research centers in JRMS. The population consisted of 1073 articles published in JRMS in 2012-2016. Ravar Matrix, UCINET, and VOSviewer software were used for data analysis.RESULTS:According to the productivity and triple centrality indicators, "Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics," "Department of Pathology," and Department of "Internal Medicine" allocated the first three ranks. Analyzing the cliques of co-authorship network for departments and research centers showed that this network consists of 19 cliques with at least 7 members in each clique. Furthermore, only 30 nodes (8.90% of all nodes in the network) had the presence in minimum clique size of at least 7.CONCLUSION:Given the importance and position of scientific collaboration in medical research and its effect on other performance indicators such as efficiency, effectiveness, and number of citations, it is necessary for policy-makers to propose new strategies for improving scientific collaboration.
Background: Reference citation analysis and reference publication year can help to demonstrate the historical context of a research field. Therefore, this study aimed to determine the most important historical publications regarding depression prevention. Methods: This was a bibliometric study carried out using reference publication year spectroscopy (RPYS) method. Data gathering was carried out using Thomson Reuters Web of Science in the period of 2007–2016. A total of 17,043 records were retrieved which were uploaded as full record and cited references in plain text format. Then modified data were analyzed using RPYS.exe software. Results: Distribution of cited references in the area of depression prevention based on publication year revealed nine peaks in the twentieth century in years 1921, 1935, 1944, 1977, 1983, 1990, 1994, 1999, and 2000. Moreover, our analysis showed that some peaks occurred in the 21st century in years 2001–2005. Conclusions: Researchers have investigated depression prevention with physiological, epidemiological, biological as well as physical approaches. Furthermore, created criteria for measuring depression in different target societies have played an important and vital role in depression prevention.
Objective: Cross-impact analysis approach is deals with the direct and indirect influences of key driving forces on a given system to plan for the future. The purpose of this research is to show Knowledge and Information Science Education foresight in Iran with cross-impact analysis approach. Methodology: The study is applicable and carry out using a survey and cross impact analysis methods. The study population consisted of faculty members, students and researchers in knowledge and information science education. A 110 matrix were returned and using MicMac software was analyzed.Findings: The findings show that the key driving forces tends to reconsider the structure of the research and education in the fields of humanities and social sciences, establishment of validation and quality assurance, graduates' employment status, position in the field of public opinion and people's attitudes towards it, equation of supply and demand and selection of students in higher education, new employment opportunities with a focus on information and knowledge, the development of parallel academic disciplines, specialization in curriculum development, the inclusion of entrepreneurial element in KIS education, impact of information technology on business environment, interaction with industry and Improvement and development of faculty members have a greatest impact and influence on the future of education field.Originality: According to previous studies, this research tries to analyze the direct and indirect influences of key deriving forces in knowledge and information science education in Iran for the first time. Also cross-impact anlysis technique was used as a new method in KIS education studies.
Purpose: This study aims to present a picture of the fundamental issues of Knowledge and Information Science (KIS) education in Iran Methods: Uses systematic review, content analysis and co-word analysis. Overall, 194 articles were retrieved and analyzed. Findings: Findings are presented in 17 categories. These include Pathology, seeking a model for learning, searching for specific theory or model for education, curriculum content, training history, the names given recently to the field vs job positions, the failed School of Knowledge and Information Science at the University of Tehran, specialization in the field, foreseeing, attitudes towards the discipline, employment & job market, training & education needs, quality assessment & accreditation, distance learning, ICT & education, educational resources, and other issues. Originality/value: The dynamics of KIS Education depends on internal and external key driving forces. Findings showed that researchers pay less attention to external driving forces influencing KIS education. This is for the first time that a picture of the most important research subjects of KIS education in Iran is presented
BACKGROUND:The study aimed to assess interdisciplinary communication among various Educational and Research Departments of Isfahan University of Medical Sciences (IUMS) in clinical medical sciences using social network analysis.MATERIALS AND METHODS:The study was carried out using scientometrics method and interdisciplinary communication network analysis. Interdisciplinary network of 1298 articles in medical sciences published in Journal of Isfahan Medical School was evaluated using macro- and micro-level criteria of network analysis. Ravar Matrix, UCINET, and VOSviewer software were used to analyze the interdisciplinary network of medical sciences articles.RESULTS:Findings showed that "Students Research Committee" and "School of Medicine," the affiliations of the medical students in general practice with scores of 272 and 197, "Epidemiology and Biostatistics," "Community Medicine," and "Internal Medicine" with 170, 101, and 99, respectively, possessed the first ranking of productivity index in scientific communication. Furthermore, in betweenness centrality index, "Epidemiology and Biostatistics" (3427.807), "Students Research Committee" (2967.180), and "Community Medicine" (1770.300) have an appropriate position in the network. Based on the centrality index, "Epidemiology and Biostatistics" (22.412), "Students Research Committee" (22.185) as well as "Community Medicine" and "School of Medicine" (both 21.554) acquired the least amount of distance with other nodes in network.CONCLUSION:Given the increased specialization in medical fields in recent years, communication between researchers with various specializations and creation of interdisciplinary or multidisciplinary departments had turned into an undeniable necessity. Therefore, communication between educational or research departments can facilitate the flow of information between researchers; and consequently, the top ranking departments in this study had more participation in scientific production of IUMS and getting more scores in annual evaluation by scientometrics department. This network analysis showed that researchers in various medical fields closely collaborate with each other and are able to connect with <2 intermediates.
Purpose: This research aimed at the investigation of factors influencing complaining behaviors of public libraries customers of Lorestan province in Iran. Methodology: survey method was preferred for this research and we used a questionnaire as a data gathering tool. The study population consisted of 27000 members of public libraries in Lorestan province. 302 members selected by simple random sampling method and the final data analysis were carried out using 302 completed questionnaires. Data were analyzed using SPSS software. In order to perform statistical analysis, Regression and Pearson Correlation tests were used. Findings: The results showed that “external attribution” has the largest influence on “exit” with Pearson coefficient 0.30. The second most influential factor was “service importance” with Pearson coefficient 0.13. Two predictor variables (social benefits and likelihood of success) have the highest influence on “direct voice”. Also, “likelihood of success” with a value of 0.31 has the highest influence on “indirect voice”. Originality/Value: complaining is a valuable feedback, which can help managers to identify and solve problems, improve the quality of library services and meet the demands of the users. The valuable finding of the research was eventfulness of “external attribution” and “service importance”.
Introduction: ResearchGate is one of the first social networks aims to foster collaboration and communication between researchers and their readers. The goal of the present research was to study the degree of presence of Isfahan University of Medical Sciences researchers in ResearchGate. Methods: The current study was a survey research using altmetrics data. The data of Isfahan University of Medical Sciences and its researchers were loaded through ResearchGate social network in February 2015. Then, the data were analyzed based on indicators ResearchGate score, total publications, total impact, loads, and views and descriptive statistics. Results: 947 of the researchers in Isfahan University of Medical Sciences had joined and loaded 2984 scientific works in ReseachGate. In addition, School of Medicine was the most active school with 659 active researchers and 200 scientific works. Moreover, in terms of the number of researchers, Department of Pediatrics was known as the most active department with 237 researchers. Conclusion: Despite the great number of university researchers in Isfahan University of Medical Sciences which is one of the great universities of Iran, the results showed that the amount of researchers’ presence in ResearchGate is relatively low. This may indicate the researchers’ limited use of ResearchGate network facilities.
This research used a scientometirc approach and social network analysis indices to investigate the co-authorship network between Iranian researchers, universities and research institutions in Iran’s engineering education field. The corpus of the study included 444 articles published in Persian in the Iranian Journal of Engineering Education from1999 to 2014. The network co-authorship matrix was drawn using a Ravar-Matrix; and then two types of social network software, UCINET and VOSviewer, were utilized for data analysis. The productivity index results revealed that the largest number of articles were written by M. Yaghobi (20 articles), J. Hejazi (15 articles), GH. Daneshi (15 articles), H. Memarian (15 articles) and P. Davami (14 articles). Moreover, based on centrality indices of the Iranian Journal of Engineering Education researchers like M. Yaghobi, P. Davami and J. Hejazi were assumed to play leading roles in the co-authorship network. In terms of the scientific productivity index, Sharif University of Technology (65 articles), Shiraz University (58 articles), and University of Tehran (57 articles) achieved the highest ranks.In addition, based on indices of degree centrality, between ness centrality, and closeness centrality, universities like Sharif University of Technology, Shiraz University, University of Tehran, and Islamic Azad University were the most effective universities in terms of scientific productivity in the Iranian Journal of Engineering Education.
